Friday Finds is hosted by A Daily Rhythm
FRIDAY FINDS showcases the books you ‘found’ and added to your To Be Read (TBR) list… whether you found them online, or in a bookstore, or in the library — wherever! (they aren’t necessarily books you purchased).
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
The monster showed up after midnight. As they do.
But it isn’t the monster Conor’s been expecting. He’s been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he’s had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming…
This monster is something different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor.
It wants the truth.
The Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey
These are the secrets I have kept. This is the trust I never betrayed. But he is dead now and has been for more than forty years, the one who gave me his trust, the one for whom I kept these secrets. The one who saved me . . . and the one who cursed me.
So starts the diary of Will Henry, orphaned assistant to Dr. Pellinore Warthorpe, a man with a most unusual specialty: monstrumology, the study of monsters. In his time with the doctor, Will has met many a mysterious late-night visitor, and seen things he never imagined were real. But when a grave robber comes calling in the middle of the night with a gruesome find, he brings with him their most deadly case yet.
I recently added these to my TBR as well. I really want to try a book by Ness and A Monster Calls has been frequently recommended to me and The Monstrumologist sounds awesome.

I’m so excited to go buy both of these, I heard there are some amazing illustrations in “A Monster Calls” and I’ve heard really good things about it. As for “The Monstrumologoist” it just sounds awesome, well put haha 🙂

For Ness, though, I’m holding out to get The Rest of Us Just Live Here. I want to try that one first before moving on to his other books.

I’ve been kind of undecided about that one, you’ll definitely have to let me know what you think of it. Maybe then I’ll give it a go!
