The TBR Book Tag

Top Ten Tuesday(4)

I haven’t done a good ol’ book tag in such a long time! I’ve got a looooong list of them as well and I’m very behind so sorry to all of you who’ve nominated me recently I’ll get to it….eventually! I was nominated to do this tag by Reg at She Latitude and Ashley at Dreaming Through Literature thank you to you both and all of you readers be sure to head over and check out both of these ladies’ blogs, they’re awesome!

How Do You Keep Track Of Your TBR Pile?

I pretty much just use Goodreads to add books to my TBR and keep track of what all is on there, I’m a hardcore mood reader so I don’t really prioritize any books unless it’s an ARC. I just kind of read whatever I feel like reading. *shrugs*

Is Your TBR Mostly Print or eBook?

Definitely mostly print books but I do have quite a few eBooks as well, I’m just a sucker for pretty covers…..

A Book That’s Been Been on Your TBR List The Longest

Um…..I don’t think I can quite pinpoint the book that has been on it the longest but it’s probably “The Lord of the Rings” by JRR Tolkien. Love the movies, read “The Hobbit”, but haven’t quite gotten to these books yet. A day may come when I finally get to read them but……

A Book You Recently Added to Your TBR

I Hate Fairyland, Vol. 1: Madly Ever After

This was recommended to me by Ashley at Dreaming Through Literature and I very much trust her opinions on graphic novels so I checked it out of course and then added it to my TBR. I’m really new to graphic novels still so I definitely appreciate recommendations for newbies like myself.

“An Adventure Time/Alice in Wonderland-style epic that smashes it’s cute little face against grown-up, Tank Girl/Deadpool-esque violent madness. Follow Gert, a forty year old woman stuck in a six year olds body who has been stuck in the magical world of Fairyland for nearly thirty years. Join her and her giant battle-axe on a delightfully blood soaked journey to see who will survive the girl who HATES FAIRYLAND.”

A Book In Your TBR Strictly Because of its Beautiful Cover

Labyrinth Lost

I saw “Labyrinth Lost” floating around for a while and just had zero interest in it but the more I saw it the more I just loved the cover and the more my interest grew. I mean look at it! It’s gorgeous! So eventually I added it to my TBR because it was too beautiful and then the description actually sounded pretty good as well, I have an eARC of this too. I almost regret getting an eARC because now I won’t have the beautiful physical copy.

A Book on Your TBR You Never Plan on Reading

House of Leaves

Honestly I do plan on reading all of the books on my TBR, because what’s the point of adding them and taking up virtual space if you’re not going to read them? I like to keep my list remotely organized.

But if there is a book I may never get to it would be “House of Leaves” by Mark Z. Danielewski. It’s something that sounds interesting and the format is unique buuuuuut I probably won’t ever read it.

An Unpublished Book on Your TBR That You’re Excited For

And the Trees Crept In

Soooo excited for this since I really enjoyed Dawn Kurtagich’s debut book “The Dead House”, the title sounds deliciously creepy, and the cover is gorgeous! I love some creepy YA horror and I think this one will be amazing.

A Book on Your TBR That Basically Everyone’s Read But You

A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1)

Pretty much everyone has read this book! Everyone! Since it’s by Sarah J. Maas that’s no big surprise considering how insanely popular her Throne of Glass series is. I do have a physical copy of this book waiting on my shelf for me but since I didn’t really love “Throne of Glass” I’m a little leery of reading this one.

A Book on Your TBR That Everyone Recommends To You

The Night Circus

This is a book that’s very popular, everyone has read it, everyone re-reads it, and everyone recommends it. At least it feels that way to me, a lot of my blogger friends loooove this book so that’s basically all the recommendation I need!

A Book on Your TBR That You’re Dying To Read

My Lady Jane

“My Lady Jane”!!!!!! I’m putting myself on a bit of a book-buying ban otherwise this baby would be in my hands now! From the sample I read it sounds hilarious and charming, I just can’t wait to read it!

The Night Circus is one of my favorites. And I literally just finished reading I Hate Fairyland (like two minutes ago), and it was so fun! Definitely looking forward to the next volume. Great list 🙂

Thank you! I’m glad to hear you loved I Hate Fairyland, I’d never heard of it before so that’s great news! I’m really new with graphic novels so I’m never sure about which ones I’d like! 🙂

Well, I can only recommend The Lord of the Rings, after all they are some of my all time favourite books. They do take quiet a lot of time to read though, so I totally understand you putting them off. 😀

Wow. The cover for The Trees Creep In is seriously amazing and…well creepy! I haven’t read anything scary/creepy in a long time, so I should probably check this one out!

If it makes you feel any better I haven’t read A Court of Thorns and Roses either! I have it on my shelf as well, just haven’t gotten around to it yet! XD I did enjoy her Throne of Glass books (well, I read the first one and the prequel novellas), sooo I have no idea why I haven’t read it yet. Well, hopefully some time soon. 🙂

I know it will definitely take me a while but I do want to get to LOTR…eventually, haha.
Yes isn’t that cover for Trees absolutely gorgeous, I love how it’s both creepy and pretty haha. I hope it’s as creepy as we think it will be!
Glad I’m not the only one who has yet to read ACOTAR! I hope you enjoy it when you get to it since you liked the Throne of Glass series, I’m a little more leery but I heard the sequel is AMAZING! 🙂

Well, you got enough time in the world to do that! XD
Yeah, I’m really looking forward to reading ACOTAR and I heard that the sequel is even better which makes me really happy. And I have also heard that Crown of Midnight is a lot better than Throne of Glass – so I’m exited to read that one as well. (Though who knows when it will happen!)

I feel ya on that one! Apparently Maas makes amazing sequels haha 🙂

Thanks for doing the tag! I’ve given up a long time ago on having any Tolkien on my TBR, haha. His writing style is just too… old-school? Literary? and I don’t really have patience for that at the moment. 😛

Hope you enjoy Labyrinth Lost! The cover is so beautiful… and hey, if you love the story that much you can always get a physical copy later.

I haven’t read ACOTAR either and am not really planning to… Maas is more of a miss for me in terms of characters and romance, and both are very important elements in a book for me. Hope you like it, though!

His writing is definitely both of those in my opinion, old school and very literary. I feel ya, haha. I keep hoping since I made it through The Hobbit and I can make it through LOTR!
I definitely thought that as well about Labyrinth Lost….just buying another copy because it’s gorgeous!
I didn’t really love Maas’s Throne of Glass either but I’m willing to try ACOTAR because everyone is saying how amazing the second book is!
      Thank you Reg! 🙂

I hear that The Hobbit is more accessible because it’s more of a children’s book – did you feel that, reading it?

Hope you like ACOTAR! I’ve heard great things about it (though I’ve also heard bad things about it, haha).

It does have a little more of a Middle Grade feel to it but I can also see some younger kids struggling with that writing style these days.
I think since I didn’t like Throne of Glass I may not like ACOTAR so much but everyone seems to like the sequel more so I’m more so doing it for that reason haha 🙂

Glad you did this tag! I haven’t read A Court of Thorns and Roses nor The Night Circus yet either. I do own a copy of The Night Circus, and I should really just get around to it. I hope you like I Hate Fairyland when you get around to it. I thought it was delightful and it seems like it should be right up your alley 😀

Oh good it isn’t just me, haha! I’m the opposite I have a copy of ACOTAR and not the Night Circus so I’ll get there eventually.
I’m sure I’ll enjoy I Hate Fairyland it does seem like it’s up my alley thank you so much for the recommendation once again Ashley! 🙂

I haven’t read A Court of Thorns and Roses! I’ve started Crown of Midnight, but like Throne of Glass, I enjoy making fun of it more than I really love the story. I’m still waiting for Celaena to show me her badassness! And The Trees Crept In sounds so creepy, haha, I’ll never muster the courage to read it!

I have a feeling I’ll be the same way with all of Maas’s books too and I also have a feeling Celaena may never be as badass as we want, haha!
I hope And The Trees Crept In is as creepy as you think it will be, I love creepy books but my courage usually fails me at some point with them haha 🙂

I am super excited for And the Trees Crept In! I also really need to read The Dead House because that sounds amazing too. I really want to leave House of Leaves, but the size intimidates me and the physical copies I’ve found online have all been pretty pricey so it probably won’t be happening any time soon, haha. I was not a fan of ACOTAR at all so if you do decide to read it I’ll be super interested to see what you think.

I know right? So creepy and so gorgeous all at once! The Dead House was pretty good and I enjoyed reading it so I hope you love it when you get a chance to read it!
I agree about House of Leaves it’s a book I want to read but it doesn’t make it easy for me since!
I also have a feeling I won’t like ACOTAR either especially since I didn’t really like Throne of Glass but since everyone is saying how amazing the sequel is I think I’m willing to push through it and find out! 🙂

Thank you so much for tagging me! You should really read ACOTAR 🙂 Maas made a fantastic job with the sequel! If this doesn’t work out for you, I hope A Court of Mist and Fury does. So far, that book is one of my favorite reads this year. 🙂

No problem and I’m basically reading through ACOTAR just to get to ACOMAF! I’ve heard nothing but great things about the sequel so I’m pretty excited to hurry through the first one! 🙂

I’m such a mood reader as well! Every time I try to make a TBR and stick to it I end up having a bad reading month so now I just pick up whatever whenever 😊 The Night Circus has the most beautiful writing and descriptions I’ve ever read! I was so happy when I finally got around to it after seeing all the good reviews, it’s different but amazing, I hope you enjoy it once you get to it!

I can’t do a planned TBR for the month at all, it never works out for me either!
I hope I enjoy The Night Circus as well since I’ve heard nothing but good things about it! I’m also a sucker for pretty writing, haha. 🙂
