The Reader Confession Tag

Top Ten Tuesday(7)

I was tagged to do this by Beth over at Betwixt The Pages, thanks Beth!

1.) Have you ever damaged a book?

Well….not on purpose. I think the worst thing I ever did was spill grape juice on part of my copy of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix when I was little so the last half of the book is wrinkled and stained at the top.

2.) Have you ever damaged a borrowed book?

Nope, never. I try to treat other people’s books even better than I treat my own because they don’t belong to me.

3.) How long does it take you to read a book?

This really depends both on how much free time I get and the book itself. If I’m enjoying the book I can easily finish it in maybe 3 days, so usually I can finish at least 1 to 2 books in a week.

4.) Books that you haven’t finished?

I don’t DNF books very often, even if the book is really bad I can usually stick it out to the end but sometimes it happens. I have only officially DNF’d two books: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Once Upon a Dream.

5.) Hyped/ Popular books you didn’t like?

Please don’t kill me but I loathed:

“City of Bones” by Cassandra Clare

“Fallen” by Lauren Kate

“Cinder” by Marissa Meyer

The House of Night series by PC & Kristin Cast

Although I m going to continue with the Lunar Chronicles!

6.) Is there a book you wouldn’t tell anyone you were reading?

I never feel like I have to hide what I’m reading although I might be the teensiest bit embarrassed about reading any fluffy romance books just because that’s not what I usually read.

7.) How many books do you own?

Around 300 including eBooks, I really don’t keep a proper count.

8.) Are you a fast reader or a slow reader?

This kind of goes right along with question #3, it depends on how much I’m liking the book I’m reading. If it’s enjoyable I’m a faster reader but if it’s not enjoyable it will take me forever. Normally though I’m just kind of a …medium reader.

9.) Do you like to buddy read?

Yes! I love being able to read a book with a friend and discuss since…I don’t really have any family and friends that like to read as much as I do! So bring on the book buddy friendship!

10.) Do you read better in your head or out loud?

In my head for sure. The only time I ever enjoy reading out loud is if it’s a funny book and I think others want to listen.

11.) If you were only allowed to own one book, what would it be and why?

“The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien because technically they’re one giant book and weren’t actually meant to be published as three separate books. Besides if it was the ONLY book I owned maybe I’d finally read it.

Thanks so much for this tag Heather, it seems like such a fun one to take part in. Although I’m not sure how interesting mine will be, I’ve never damaged a book or a friends book before, not even on accident, and I don’t really DNF books either. I guess everyone has different reading habits though 🙂 and admittedly there are a fair few popular hyped books I’m not fans of as well, The House of Night series is definitely one for me.
Great answers as well, I loved reading them, and thanks again for the tag! 😀

So glad to hear it wasn’t just me who didn’t like The House of Night series! I don’t know why I ever even read them sometimes.
Thanks Beth and I can’t wait to see more of your answers for this tag! 🙂

Thank you so so much for participating! I had a TON of fun reading through your answers (and found myself gasping when I read you couldn’t finish PPZ–sorry, knee-jerk reaction? I know those books are definitely not for everyone!)

      Thanks for tagging me! 🙂
I know, I felt horrible DNFing it, but I just couldn’t do it!

No worries–it happens to all of us! There are just some books we cannot get into, or finish, and that’s okay! 🙂 Life’s too short to force yourself to read something you’re not feeling, after all.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who wasn’t a fan of City of Bones 😂 Funnily enough my most damaged book is Order of the Phoenix.

Thanks so much for the tag 😊!!

Nope not just you! I’m always a little scared of the TMI fans mobbing me or something though, haha.
Really? That is too funny, what a weird coincidence! Our poor HP copies, haha. 🙂

I feel as if I’m both a fast and slow reader, depending on the book and language I’m reading in. Sometimes I can finish a whole book in a day and then there are times where I can only read 50 pages…It’s really weird! XD
I love buddy reading as well! Though I haven’t done it nearly as much as I wanted to. It’s simply wonderful reading with someone else and then being able to discuss the book while reading it!
The only time I read out loud is when I’m reading poetry…which is basically never. 😀
Thank you for the tag! ❤

Yes I agree it is weird but I am a mood reader so maybe that explains it haha.
Buddy reads really are awesome, that way you have someone to unleash character feels on haha!
No problem Anna! Can’t wait to see the rest of your answers! 🙂

Thank you so much for the tag, Heather! 🙂
I’m a little bit scared to answer the “how many books do you own” question…haha! I’m the same way with reading speed. I generally think of myself as a slow reader, but then I can speed through a book like nobody’s business if I’m enjoying it! 😛
Buddy reading is the best (as we found out!)! It’s particularly awesome over the internet like we did it because not only is it cool that we can be practically on opposite ends of the country and do something like that, but on top of having someone to discuss (fangirl) with, it’s a great way to get to know your blog friends a bit more! I definitely hope we can do another buddy read again soon; it was so much fun!

No problem! I hope my tags aren’t stacking up too bad! I agree 100% on the buddy reads they are a fantastic thing and it is so amazing to be able to talk about books with blog friends! We will definitely have to do another one sometime soon! 🙂
