Ringing In The New Year Tag

top-ten-tuesday40

Of course I’m a little late doing this tag but hey it’s not THAT late so I think it’s safe! I saw Michelle did this tag over on Book Adventures so be sure to check out her post and blog as well!

Best book/series that you’ve read in 2016.

There are so many wonderful books that I read in 2016 but I just have to go with “Illuminae” because it was such a fast-paced, action-packed read!

Authors that you’ve recently found and would like to read more of in the new year.

d30e6-jay-kristoff-1006752

Jay Kristoff, of course! It is now my life’s mission to read all of his books period.

Most anticipated book turned movie/TV show.

(There isn’t an official movie poster out for “The Dark Tower” yet)

I’ll  go with “A Monster Calls” by Patrick Ness because it’s the only one coming out this year that I’ve actually already read. Otherwise I’d say “The Dark Tower” by Stephen King because it looks amazing but I have yet to read that book/series.

Name a character that you wouldn’t mind sharing a kiss with at midnight.

I don’t really have “book boyfriends” all that much, they have to be PRETTY good for that but I’ll go with Tyrus from “The Diabolic”. He was ruthless and deliciously clever!

What’s on your TBR for 2017.

There are so many! However the books I’m prioritizing this year are starting the Mistborn series with “The Final Empire” by Brandon Sanderson and finishing both the Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy and the Raven Cycle series!

How many books do you plan to read in 2017.

I set my Goodreads reading challenge at 80 books this year so hopefully I’ll read 80 or even more! Also there will be graphic novels sprinkled throughout so it’s kind of cheating but also not really, haha!

Will you participate in the Goodreads reading challenge or any  other.

Yes and I’m also probably going to try and participate in the Beat the Backlist reading challenge as well since I have loads of backlist books that need to get read sooner rather than later. My shelves can’t take it anymore and neither can my checkbook so I’m trying to read more so I can buy more!

Any New Year’s resolutions (Bookish, Blogging, Otherwise).

Noooot really, I’m boring like that. All I can say is that I hope to improve both my reading and blog this year!

Hope you have fun with it, it’s a pretty short tag which is why I figured it’ll be a little easier for everyone to squeeze in! 🙂

The more you mention Jay Kristoff the more I want to read his books! XD So hopefully I’ll actually get my hands on some of his books soon. I really want to read The Dark Tower series before watching the tv show. I have been interested in that series for ages, so it seems appropriate that I read it before watching. (Let’s see if I’ll be able to keep myself from watching the show before that!) 😀
Thanks for the tag!! ❤ I have already done this tag this year. You can check it out here:

Good, read them haha! I’d definitely love to chat about them with you!
I really want to read The Dark Tower series as well beforehand it’s just a little daunting since King books usually take me a while to get through. There’s just so much content!

I’m not sure if I’m going to read anything by Kristoff, especially by the way that handled people pointing out the problematic things in his books, he completely dismissed their concerns.

I’m not sure I’ve heard about it, were they all of his books or certain ones like Stormdancer?
I’ve heard people say some things about him not representing Asian culture accurately in Stormdancer but that’s about it.
I did still really enjoy all of his books though but I’d like to know what the problems with them are if you don’t mind my asking or pointing me to another website or something with the info I’d appreciate it! 🙂

Nevernight is the only one I’ve seen is problematic, due to poor racial and cultural representation. People on instagram and twitter pointed out the issues and he completely dismissed their concerns. I think some of the people that pointed out the poor representation might have been from one of the culture in the book.

Really? I haven’t heard anything about Nevernight at all so I wasn’t aware. I’m trying to think back now to what I read but most of the races in the book are fictitious so I’m wondering if maybe he didn’t base some of them off of real races. I might have to go do some poking around on Instagram and Twitter and see exactly what it is everyone’s saying.
Like I said I did enjoy the book but I’m always grateful to be updated on problems with any book so I can be aware of them and acknowledge it so thanks Ashley! 🙂

You are very welcome. It’s definitely a learning process right now with all the discussion about reading more diverse books, and listening to people when they say something is problematic. If I find things, I’ll DM you on Twitter.

Thanks so much for tagging me! I see you haven’t finished The Raven Cycle books yet. I really hope you enjoy them 🙂 Despite not being a fan of the last book, I enjoyed the whole quartet a lot because of the characters so I think that you will like the ones you have on your TBR 😀

I think I’ll definitely enjoy the last 2 Raven Cycle books since I enjoyed the first 2 so much!
I’m actually really interested in the last one because I’ve seen mixed feelings so I’d love to see where I stand.
