Totally Should’ve… Book Tag

top-ten-tuesday43

I was tagged to do this ages ago by Anna @ My Bookish Dream, sorry this has literally taken me forever to do but thanks Anna for tagging me! Be sure to head over and check out Anna’s answers as well as her blog she’s fantastic and super fun to chat books with!

Totally Should’ve…Gotten A Sequel:

I just loved this world and these characters so much I would have loved for this to have a sequel if not a series! Granted it was a combination of retellings as well as its own story but I feel like the author could have kept going using different fairy tales (similar to what Marissa Meyer did with her Lunar Chronicles). Now excuse me while I go cry over this book again….

Totally Should’ve…Had A Spin Off Series:

There really aren’t too many series that I have personally finished that I think would have a spin-off series work so I’ll just go with the Chronicles of Alice duology by Christina Henry. To be more specific I’d love to read a book/duology/series about Henry’s Cheshire character which I thought she did a remarkable job on, I also think it’d be pretty easy since there was more than enough information left unsaid about him too!

An Author Who Totally Should’ve…Written More Books:

Gillian Flynn! She only has 4 books out total and one of them is a short story! She is an exceptional writer and I have loved every single one of her books and I need more, hopefully she’ll be getting back in the game eventually…..

A Character Who Totally Should’ve… Ended Up With Someone Else:

I don’t really care too much about any romances in the books I’ve read or if I do (which takes a LOT, trust me) I actually like who the end up with. But I suppose for the sake of answering this question I’ll go with Harry Potter who I thought would have been better with Hermoine. I didn’t really like Ginny (especially in the movies) I felt she was just kind of blah and I just felt Harry and Hermoine would have been better.

Totally Should’ve…Had A Movie Franchise:

Okay so this may be cheating a little since I don’t think this book would need a franchise but it DOES need a movie adaptation stat! It’s got morally ambiguous, super-powered characters and there’s a dog, what more could you want in a movie? Plus the powers in this book are straight up awesome and pretty unique!

Totally Should’ve…Had A TV Show:

I think this book/series (from what I’ve read) would make an excellent TV show because there’s just a lot of content and it can also get pretty dark at times. It’d be interesting to watch for sure!

Totally Should’ve…Had Only One Point Of View:

Not sure about this one since I usually enjoy multiple POVs but I think maybe one that I didn’t particularly  enjoy was “The Rose & The Dagger”. I didn’t like Shazi’s sister’s POV really at all.

Totally Should’ve…Had A Cover Change:

Most of the time I like the original covers better but one I think could use a cover change is “Truthwitch” even though the series is currently ongoing (I hate when there are cover changes mid-series). The covers just aren’t that pretty and I don’t think it really shows exactly what the books are about either.

Totally Should’ve…Kept The Original Covers:

I do NOT like the new covers for the Winner’s Trilogy (the ones on the bottom) because I don’t feel like they show Kestrel as she is at all, especially that first cover! Sure Kestrel was trained to use weapons but if you’ve read the book then you know she is NOT good with them and instead is more focused on strategy. Not that the original covers show her much better but at least they’re nicer looking in my opinion.

Totally Should’ve…Stopped At Book One

I think you guys all know how I feel about this book being marketed as a standalone and then all of a sudden it’s a trilogy? No. Do not wrap up a book completely and say it’s a standalone and then go and decide to make it a series. Just no. Like I said this book was wrapped up nicely and with no loose ends, so why couldn’t we just leave it that way? Should have stopped at book one.

I’m not going to tag anyone to do this one because I feel I tag the same people and you all have a huge pile of tags to do because of me, haha!

Feel free to do this tag if you want!

Agree with Ginny being ‘blah’, she’s so annoying, but still think Hermione and Ron are perfect ❤ 😉

Glad you agree with me, I always feel like there are more people that liked Harry/Ginny than not. I do like Hermoine and Ron far better! 🙂

Thank you, glad you agree with me on The Diabolic. I definitely liked it and wouldn’t HATE to see it as a series but it was supposed to be a standalone and it worked like one just fine so I agree it’s a little annoying. :/

Truthwitch’s cover game was pretty weak. There was so much potential and that’s the best they could come up with? Ugh! And Kingdom of Ash and Briars could have been split into multiple books. I loved the story and all of the ideas but it could have been expanded on.

Exactly! Fantasy books I feel are so much easier to come up with pretty covers so I was pretty disappointed with Truthwitch!
I definitely wish Kingdom of Ash and Briars was a series because as much as I loved it I agree it could have been expanded on but I still think it was excellent! 🙂

A movie for Vicious would be amazing!! ❤ As you know, I adore that book and I would love to see it as a movie. I hope that we will get a sequel to Vicious…soooo then it can be a movie franchise! 😀
The Monstrumologist would make an amazing tv show! I think it has a lot of potential – with the setting, time period, the creepy elements and the characters. Plus everyone loves Sherlock Holmes as a character and the Doctor (forgot how his name was spelled) reminded me a lot of him. I would seriously love for this to become a tv show – especially since I do tend to enjoy darker shows more. 🙂

I NEED a sequel for Vicious immediately! Need it! Haha! I’d love to see it as an entire franchise!
The Monstrumologist as a tv show I thought would work so well because it’s so creepy and dark! Plus there’s just a lot of content they could use! And like you said the Doctor would just be a great character on tv because he’s also just a great character period. 🙂

Definitely one of my favorite ships too! I really wish it would have ended up that way in the books but it was kind of a thing in the movies so that was awesome! 🙂

I agree about the Winner’s trilogy. Why did they have to change such beautiful covers? Also, I heard a lot of great things about Vicious but haven’t read it. Maybe I’ll give it a try soon.
