So this month was pretty great for me as far as both reading and posting! I’ve finally caught up with many old comments and posts since having a slump at the end of March, so I’m happy to be back! I also had a decent month for books as well I read 4 even though the average has been 5 for me per month I still read some great books!
I’m definitely looking forward to May because it’s going to be an AMAZING month for releases, I think I’ll be doing up a post about those this week too so keep an eye out!
Books Read This Month: 4
The only book I really disliked out of the ones I read this month was “The Roanoke Girls” which I just found to be very disappointing. However, the rest of these books were really great! I still have to collect my thoughts on “Living Dead Girl” since it’s a very short book and one that’s also pretty disturbing. I also don’t know how in the world I am going to write a review for the AMAZING “Red Rising” yet either!

What I’m Currently Reading:
So far this book is VERY good, I thought it was going to be another cookie-cutter YA Fantasy book but it’s actually pretty unique and I’m loving it!
Also as soon as I’m finished I’m going to start my ARC of “The Seafarer’s Kiss” which is a retelling of The Little Mermaid with a F/F romance!

I’m about to start reading The DaVinci Code, I have a special illustrated edition of it that I bought at a library book sale!

It has amazing photos of historical objects and paintings mentioned in the book and really add context. I finished it yesterday and loved it. I watched the movie too.

*whoop whoop* for Red Rising, always good to see a fellow howler in the blogosphere since that series (one of my faves) is highly underrated ;( so glad you enjoyed it. I’m currently reading & loving A Million Junes but I have no idea what I’m going to read next. I have a copy of Seafarer’s Kiss coming in the mail this week so I’m pretty hyped for that. Happy reading in April <3!

And oh my gosh fellow howler, I love it! The Howlers were one of my absolute favorite parts of that book! I still need to get my hands on the second book but when I do I will DEVOUR the rest of the series!
I’m currently trying to speed read through Seafarer’s Kiss and so far it’s very good, hope you enjoy it! 🙂

Do you recommend Red Rising for someone that is not the biggest fan of sci-fi?
LikeLiked by 1 person
I would say yes! It’s really more of a blend of genres than it is strictly sci-fi really the only thing that has a sci-fi feel to it is some of the technology and the fact that it’s set on Mars. Otherwise it has more of a dystopian and even has a bit of fantasy elements as well! Hope that kind of makes sense. 😁

Yes, thanks for explaining it to me! I am definitely intrigued by this blend of genres. I am not a fan of sci-fi but if it’s not heavy, I will definitely pick it up.

You’re so lucky to be reading them after the series is complete – the cliffhanger at the end of Golden Son is BRUTAL. But I’m excited for the sequel trilogy!

I’m terrified now! But you’re right at least I can dive right into Morning Star after Golden Son! 🙂

Glad you had a better reading/blogging month 😀 I totally felt the same way about The Roanoke Girls. I’ve really gotta read Red Rising!!! Looking forward to seeing what you think of Living Dead Girl. It was definitely an intense read, but I think it handled everything respectfully. Especially compared to The Roanoke Girls, anyway.

Thanks Lauren! I definitely did enjoy Living Dead Girl in its way and yes I think for such dark subject matter it handled it much better than The Roanoke Girls! 🙂
