This week’s theme is series we have been meaning to start and haven’t yet! I am notorious for starting series and usually never finishing them so there really weren’t that many series on my TBR that I haven’t started at all, but here are the few!
These aren’t in any specific order either!
10.) The Mistborn Series by Brandon Sanderson
I actually own the box set of the trilogy but just haven’t gotten to it yet. As a huge fantasy fan reading this seems to be an absolute must and I’m definitely excited to get to it, or really any Brandon Sanderson book!
9.) The Diviners Series by Libba Bray
I’ve owned the first book for a while and just haven’t gotten to it yet, I am definitely a huge fan of creepy and spooky books so I’m hoping to get to it this October!
8.) The Falling Kingdoms Series by Morgan Rhodes
Why haven’t I read this?! I bought the first book when it came out and still haven’t read it! I know I’m a terrible person, I will read it eventually especially since it’s such a popular series and was being marketed as a sort of YA Game of Thrones.
7.) The A Court of Thorns and Roses Series by Sarah J. Maas
Sarah J. Maas and her books are HUGELY hyped and while I did give the first book in her other series “Throne of Glass” a go , I also want to see what the big deal is with this series as well. I may turn out to be that person who just doesn’t click with her writing.
6.) The Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan
I read and adored the Percy Jackson series but just haven’t gotten around to this one yet. I know, I know shame on me! I have a lot of catching up to do as far as Riordan’s series go though, but I definitely need to binge this series soon!
5.) The Firebird Trilogy by Claudia Gray
I actually wasn’t too interested in this series right away since I thought, for some dumb reason, this was a contemporary series. It’s actually sci-fi and once I found that out and actually read the premise I was sold!
4.) The Magicians Trilogy by Lev Grossman
I actually wasn’t SUPER interested in this trilogy right away but then I started watching the SyFy show on Netflix and could not get enough! No I haven’t finished season one yet but I’m in love and would definitely love to read this series now!
3.) The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix
Not really sure why I want to read this series so much but the premise sounds like it promises a badass heroine and it seems to be another staple series in fantasy so I need to read it!
2.) The School For Good and Evil Trilogy by Soman Chainani
I know this is a middle grade series but honestly it sounds so good! There are schools for training “good” princes and princesses and also to train the “evil” villains, what about this doesn’t sound interesting? I’m definitely excited to give it a try!
1.) The Insignia Trilogy by S.J. Kincaid
I could always use more YA sci-fi on my TBR and after loving S.J. Kincaid’s other novel “The Diabolic” I really wanted to give her other books a try so I bought the first book in this series!

I would love to read A Court of Thorns and Roses once I’m finished with Throne of Glass. I’ve read the first two books and I think the second is much better than the first. And I need to check out The Magicians. Like I need more on my TBR… Haha The first book used to be on mine.

That’s good to hear, I have been told the Throne of Glass series does get better so I’m thinking I will continue.
I was actually really back and forth with The Magicians since I’ve heard so many mixed things but after watching some of the TV show I decided I was interested enough to add it!

From what I hear, they do get better, and I think there are more characters introduced that play big roles. That may be why people love the later books so much.
Maybe I should check out the TV show as well. That may tell me if I want to read the books or not.

We share a few series. I’m slowly powering my way through the Percy Jackson books and loving them! I had no idea there was going to be another book in the Diviners series… I’m super excited & I just added that to my calendar, thank you for letting me know!
The firebird trilogy, I just want to read those books because gosh look at those covers! 😀 My friend was reading the School for Good & Evil and she really liked them, she keeps telling me I should read them, so they must be good!

Percy Jackson is straight up amazing, I devoured that whole series so I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying them too!
No problem, I was surprised to see there was another Diviners book as well since at first I thought it was a standalone. It’s a little annoying that there has been a different cover for every book in the series too!
I also hear lots of good things about the School for Good & Evil series, even if it’s Middle Grade, so I’m definitely excited to give that one a try too! 🙂

I’m slowly devouring them! I have one left of the Olympians series, but I plan to read all of what Rick Riordan has written!
I thought the Diviners was a standalone too! When the second book came out I was excited, now there’s another & I’m happy to go back to that world because it’s so fun! 😀
I read a lot of middle grade books; they’re just so funny and cute!

I LOVED The Diviners, it’s probably one of my favorites of the year so far. It was so mysterious and glamorous.

I too am awful at finishing series but great at reading the first book! I literally just finished the first book in the Mistborn series and was BLOWN AWAY by it. I definitely recommend reading it for sure! I’ve also read two out of the three books in the ACOTAR series and will say that the first book definitely drags. It takes a massive turn so definitely get to that before DNFing it. The second book ACOMAF was excellent, so maybe try it to get there if you’re into the end of ACOTAR. As for The Magicians series, I’ve heard that the TV series and the book series are very different. I have not read the book, but enjoyed the TV show. Also, I want to read The School for Good and Evil too. I really like the premise as well.

That’s awesome to hear about The Final Empire! I just know I’m going to love it but just haven’t gotten to it yet!
I’ve also heard from other people that ACOMAF is much better than ACOTAR but thanks for letting me know, I will definitely have to stick it out to the end with that one since it gets better!
I have heard really mixed things concerning The Magicians but I just couldn’t NOT try it after loving the TV show so I’ll have to see how differently it compares to the show.
The School for Good and Evil just sounds so interesting, even if it is technically Middle Grade. 🙂

The Diviners, The Heroes of Olympus, and The Magicians are all series I started but have yet to manage to finish. I did very much enjoy the first book in the Diviners series in both print and audio (I’ve read it twice, but haven’t moved on). Great list, and happy reading!

I have had a copy of The Diviners forever, glad to hear you enjoyed it! I think I’ll save it for October this year since it seems like it’s a little spooky!
I also don’t want to commit fully to the Heroes of Olympus because I know once I start it will consume me until I finish, haha! 🙂

The Firebird series is sci-fi ish, but I think I would classify it as a adventure/romance more than anything. It’s really a lot more centralized on the romance aspect than I had expected going in and that disappointed me a little.
I LOVED the Magicians series! But all the reviews I’ve seen for the actual books seem pretty negative
So I haven’t picked them up yet.
Mistborn and Falling Kingdoms are still on my TBR too. Too much fantasy, too little time!

Thanks for the heads up on the Firebird Trilogy, romance is not my thing! However, perhaps if I go in knowing that I won’t be too disappointed with it.
I’ve seen the same kinds of reviews for The Magicians which is why I didn’t add it until after watching some of the series. I’m curious to see how it compares to the show.
Fantasy is such a time consuming genre! 🙂

I strongly recommend both the Diviners series and the Firebird trilogy! The Diviners series is definitely a little bit on the spooky side, and would be great for October.

Good lord, our reading tastes are very similar!! I’ve had Mistborn, The Diviners, The Court series, The Heroes of Olympus Series, and the Magicians series on my shortlist for far too long. Gotta make them a priority soon!

It’s always nice to find people with similar tastes! So many great series and not enough time. I’m saving the Heroes of Olympus and Mistborn for when I have more time because I know once I read them I’ll have to binge! Fantasy is a very time consuming genre! 🙂

The School for Good and Evil is really cute and is more of a parody about fairytales than anything. Though it’s a bit annoying cause they get too caught up in the romance which stops them from thinking straight.

Great list! If you’re a fantasy fan and haven’t read Brandon Sanderson yet then you’re in for a treat. I love that you have the Insignia Trilogy on your list…it’s tragically unknown, IMO. That third book…wow! Good luck and happy reading!

The Heroes of Olympus series is amazing! ACOTAR was decent, but the second book is much better. I still haven’t read the finale.

I have heard that ACOTAR is not as good as ACOMAF so I think I’ll have to march through the first book to get to the good stuff! 🙂

I have Mistborn and Diviners on my list too. Had them on my shelves for years and have yet to read them. I also need to read the Magicians. The TV shows is hit or miss. Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don’t, but it’s all interesting.

Same here although Mistborn only has been on there for maybe close to a year, I still need to start getting through my TBR. I’ve heard mixed things about the Magicians but you’re right it’s all interesting so I’d like to give the books a try too. 🙂

You’ve got to read the Mistborn trilogy! I haven’t read the last book yet, but the first two were so good! I think you’ll really enjoy it. As for the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, from what I heard, those who didn’t like the Throne of Glass series liked the ACOTAR series much more. Awesome post! ❤

That’s the thing about the Mistborn trilogy is that I KNOW I’m going to be obsessed with it but I also want to give it the time it deserves.
I’m hoping I’ll like ACOTAR more and I have heard that series only gets better with that one! 🙂

I haven’t tried Throne of Glass yet but I have to say I love ACOTAR so much. I got really hooked, I’ve heard mixed reviews about Throne of Glass and I have been apprehensive to give that one a try in-case it’s not as good. I haven’t tried any of the other series on your list myself yet though 🙂

I’m really hoping I’ll love ACOTAR more than ToG but I have heard that the ending and also sequels to ACOTAR is all worth it! Definitely excited to get to it at some point here but also the hype unnerves me too! 🙂
