So as promised here is another week’s edition of Down The TBR Hole in which I attempt to eliminate books until my TBR is in a bit more manageable size! Also I will be getting rid of more than one book this time so it’s a bit more exciting!
If you missed last week’s edition here it is: Down The TBR Hole #1
This was “created” by Lost in a Story!
The Rules:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current TBR Count (793)
Book #11
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
Date Added: June 18th, 2015
I bought a little cheap mass market paperback version of this book because I did enjoy the movie for the most part and a bunch of my friends were reading it when the movie came out. However, I just don’t really feel like it interests me that much anymore and I don’t think I’ll ever get around to reading it. If I do then that’s fine but for now I think I’ll give it the boot.
The Judgment: Go
Book #12
The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell
Date Added: June 18th, 2015
This book sounds interesting with all of the psychic phenomena and such but it is long and I just feel like I would get bored with it and DNF it. So I’ll get rid of it.
The Judgement: Go
Book #13
Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
Date Added: June 18th, 2015
Yes, yes the only reason I have this on here is because I loved the movie and am interested in reading the story in it’s original form. Will I be bored by it? Maybe. But I’m still going to keep it for now.
The Judgement: Keep
Book #14
The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker
Date Added: June 18th, 2015
I really, really like the idea of two mythical beings meeting up in 1900’s New York City and becoming friends. I also like the idea of learning more about said mythical creatures and the cultures in which they originate. So I’m definitely planning on reading this eventually.
The Judgement: Keep
Book #15
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
Date Added: June 18th, 2015
I like the idea of this book with it’s unique format and slightly creepy story but I honestly am not going to buy a copy and my library doesn’t have one. Also I’m not sure if it would hold my attention as it should.
The Judgement: Go
Book #16
Angelfall by Susan Ee
Date Added: June 18th, 2015
The premise with evil apocalyptic angels sounds amazing and I’m here for it. I also have a copy on my Kindle so I do plan on reading this one!
The Judgement: Keep
Book #17
The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
Date Added: June 18th, 2015
Such a hyped up and popular book plus there are aliens! I own a copy so I’m hoping to read it eventually.
The Judgement: Keep
Book #18
The Ruins of Gorlan (Ranger’s Apprentice #1) by John Flanagan
Date Added: June 18th, 2015
This is a book I actually do still kind of want to give a try since it’s just Middle Grade medieval fantasy but I just don’t think I’ll ever, ever get to it. Therefore even though it still sounds interesting I’m going to have to give it up.
The Judgement: Go
Book #19
Unwind by Neal Shusterman
Date Added: June 18th, 2015
I own a copy and am still interested in this darker dystopian just to see how twisted it gets.
The Judgement: Keep
Book #20
Prince of Fools by Mark Lawrence
Date Added: June 18th, 2015
So I think I honestly WANT to still read this book but I’m not even sure if I like Mark Lawrence’s books yet. I own a copy that I decided to keep on my TBR of one of his books “Prince of Thorns” so I think I’ll see if I like that one first before adding this one back on to my TBR.
The Judgement: Go
I actually got rid of some this time, woohoo! I kind of have hoarder tendencies so actually deleting books off of my TBR is a little hard but if I don’t plan on reading them ever and they don’t scream my name I’m just going to have to get rid of them! It feels good too!
Have you read any of these? What did you think?
Do you think I should have kept any of these books?
Do you agree with any of my keeps or discards?
Let me know in the comments!
I really enjoyed The Bone Clocks. It was a long read, but I thought it was worth it. Also, I had it on an eReader – I might have felt differently if I had to drag the book around with me. 🙂

I always have an easier time with long books on my e-reader than with physical copies too. I might add The Bone Clocks back onto my TBR later but for now I don’t think I’m going to get to it soon, glad you loved it though it sounds really interesting! 🙂

House of Leaves is definitely an interesting read and probably not for everyone. Not only is the format very very different, but there are three stories, two of which are told in the footnotes and you have to read it all for it to make any semblance of sense. I only read it because it was a recommend from a friend. Great idea for a post! 🙂

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed House of Leaves it seems like a really unique reading experience having to keep track of 3 different stories! 🙂

It was! But there’s a chance I wouldn’t have read it if my friend didn’t recommend it/ tell me to read it haha

I’ve heard of some of these books but never read them. It’s awesome that you’ve been able to lower your TBR!

Thanks Ashley! It feels really good to clean up my TBR a bit, of course I’ll probably just fill it right back up again though, haha! 🙂

I was told by a librarian about how great Unwind was so I took a chance on it. I just really didn’t like that book. I just didn’t really click with the writing. I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance though!

Thank you! 🙂
That stinks that you didn’t enjoy Unwind, of course not every book is for everybody though hopefully you read something fantastic after that to make up for it! 🙂

I did actually enjoy Jurassic Park. It’s not the best thing I’ve ever read, but if you like the movie, I think you’ll like the book. And The Golem & the Jinni is amazing! (I need to reread that one.)

That’s awesome to hear! I was so unsure about keeping Jurassic Park, it might just take me a really long time to get to it! And yes I’m so excited to read the Golem and The Jinni it just sounds so good, glad you loved it! 🙂
