Top Ten Tuesday(2)

It’s a new month and once again time to discuss those amazing new book releases! There definitely aren’t as many as there were last  month in October but there’s still a few good ones!

This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada

Release Date: November 7th

A hacker main character, DNA that can be recoded and allow people to change how they want, and a plague that has brought the human race to the brink of extinction. Sounds pretty badass and I have an ARC of this I’m starting soon.

Renegades by Marissa Meyer

Release Date: November 7th

Basically a good old fashioned superheroes vs. villains book which I am here for.

Retribution Rails by Erin Bowman

Release Date: November 7th

The sequel to “Vengeance Road” and I’m all for that gorgeous cover and a YA western.

Rosemarked by Livia Blackburne

Release Date: November 7th

A sort of typical sounding YA fantasy with a healer and a soldier forced together to spy on an empire, I love fantasies with a political edge though!

Jade City by Fonda Lee

Release Date: November 7th

Magical jade is used to enhance warrior’s abilities in order to protect their island but when a new drug is released that allows others to use the jade as well leading to a clan war on the island. I think this sounds really interesting and exciting!

The November Girl by Lydia King

Release Date: November 7th

I’m not quite sure how to describe this one so I’ll just leave the synopsis here:

I am Anda, and the lake is my mother. I am the November storms that terrify sailors and sink ships. With their deaths, I keep my little island on Lake Superior alive.

Hector has come here to hide from his family until he turns eighteen. Isle Royale is shut down for the winter, and there’s no one here but me. And now him.

Hector is running from the violence in his life, but violence runs through my veins. I should send him away, to keep him safe. But I’m half human, too, and Hector makes me want to listen to my foolish, half-human heart. And if I do, I can’t protect him from the storms coming for us.

This sounds really unique!

Devil in Ohio by Daria Polatin

Release Date: November 7th

Horror is always up my alley! This one is about a new girl, Mae, that shows up in town and is accompanied by a lot of strange happenings, Jules soon discovers that Mae used to belong to a strange cult that wants her back.

The Becoming of Noah Shaw by Michelle Hodkin

Release Date: November 7th

So I included this book only because I know a lot of people are probably looking forward to it since it’s a spin off of the Mara Dyer series. I personally have not read that series yet but I’m not sure it’s my cup of tea.

Untitled design(3)

The Speaker (The Reader #2) by Traci Chee

Release Date: November 7th

Sequel to “The Reader” which I have not read yet but it’s on my TBR!

Artemis by Andy Weir

Release Date: November 14th

NEW ANDY WEIR BOOK! And it’s about a heist on the moon! Sold.

The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty

Release Date: November 14th

A con artist with healing abilities set in a magical Middle Eastern kingdom. A unique sounding fantasy and it seriously sounds amazing!

Whichwood by Tahereh Mafi

Release Date: November 14th

A spin off of “Furthermore” about a girl who prepares the bodies of the dead but a pair of strangers turn up and change her world for the better.

Into The Drowning Deep by Mira Grant

Release Date: November 14th

Two words: sea monsters. Isn’t that all you need?! A crew is assembled in order to hunt down ancient sea creatures in the Mariana Trench. I am here for it!

Runebinder by Alex R. Kahler

Release Date: November 14th

A new fantasy about an unending war between once human monsters and corrupt necromancers and only Hunters can fight against them. Hopefully this is as good as it sounds!

No Saints in Kansas by Amy Brashear

Release Date: November 14th

I have an ARC of this one and it’s essentially a retelling of Truman Capote’s true crime novel “In Cold Blood”.

Fragments of the Lost by Megan Miranda

Release Date: November 14th

Jessa is asked to pack up her ex-boyfriend’s room after his accident and as she boxes his belongings away she starts remembering that their relationship may not be what she thought and questions what really happened to him.

I like a good YA mystery/thriller and this one sounds like it might be worth while.

Are you also looking forward to any of these books?

Have you read any of them yet (ARCs etc)?

What are some November releases I didn’t include that you’re looking forward to?

Let me know in the comments!

Retribution Rails, The City of Brass, Renegades, and Rosemarked are the ones I’m most looking forward to. I’ve been hearing mixed things about Renegades lately though, so I hope my expectations aren’t too high. I also chose Artemis for my pick from Book of the Month Club and it’s on its way to me now. So excited!

Yes, I’ve been hearing the same about Renegades and I think I may have to lower my expectations a bit. I’d love to see what you think of it though it would definitely help me figure out if I want to buy it or not! Also can’t wait to see what you think of Artemis too! I hope it’s even better than The Martian! 🙂

I’m not too worried about the mixed reviews of Renegades because Heartless got the same initial reactions and I absolutely loved that book! But I’ll definitely be grabbing a copy and reviewing as soon as I can. My dad’s reading Artemis right now so it’ll be interesting to see what he thinks of it before I pick it up, haha.

I suppose that is true about Heartless and I loved that book as well! Still I think I’ll wait for your full thoughts on it, I trust your reviews! Hope you end up loving it and Artemis! 🙂

I think I need to add The November Girl to my TBR. I am definitely intrigued by the synopsis! I am excited about Artemis. I hope it is just as good as The Martian!

I know! I thought the synopsis for The November Girl sounded very interesting as well! And I hope we will both enjoy Artemis because I’m super excited for it as well, hopefully it will be as good if not better than The Martian! 🙂

A lot of these sound really good. I’ll be interested to hear what you think of Artemis! I still need to read The Martian, so I’m not sure if I’ll like the writing style or not, but I’m super interested. I’m looking forward to Future Home of the Living God by Louise Erdrich this month. 🙂

Thank you and I need to get my hands on a copy of Artemis stat! I liked The Martian but there were moments where it had an “overload” of science and math stats for me so I’m hoping this book will be a little….less of that, haha!

Hope you enjoy The Martian when you get a chance to read it, I thought Mark Watney’s humor was one of the best parts of it! 🙂

I’ve heard there’s a lot of humor in Artemis too! I’m looking forward to that 🙂

I am always up for a book by Marissa Meyer so I’m psyched to hear there’s a new one out. And I’ve been looking forward to Artemis! Sometimes I dislike Science Fiction books because they sometimes get so stuck in the Science that the fiction lags and ends up with a slow plot, but the Martian was satisfying on so many levels so I’m sure this one will be wonderful.

Same! Marissa Meyer + Super Heroes can only equal awesome, haha!
I’m also hoping Artemis is just as amazing as The Martian if not even better, it’s got some pretty high expectations to meet! Hope you love it when you get a chance to read it! 🙂

That’s so good to hear, especially since I still have to read it, I’ll have to go check your review out now!
There definitely aren’t a ton of books coming out this month which is a little disappointing but they overloaded us last month maybe to make up for it, haha! 🙂

Hope you enjoy it Destiny! I’ve seen some mixed things and I’m always iffy with Meyer’s writing so I will definitely be waiting for your thoughts before deciding if I want to get it or not! 🙂
