Fall Book Haul!

Top Ten Tuesday (29).jpg

These are some books that were SUPPOSED to be a part of my last book haul (which you can check out here) but I did the post after I ordered them soooo here we are with another book haul!

This will be kind of a short post since I don’t really have too much to say about any of these books but I am excited to read them all!

Hope you guys enjoy!

ARCs Received:

Fire and Bone by Rachel A. Marks

The Upside of Falling Down by Rebekah Crane

These are two ARCs I received unsolicited from the publisher but I’m looking forward to reading both of them with release dates in January and February!

Books I Purchased or Were Gifted To Me:

Scythe by Neal Shusterman

The Passion of Dolssa by Julie Berry

I’ve honestly been waiting forever to get my hands on this book, I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I want to try and broaden my reading horizons a bit. I don’t usually like historical fiction but I’m hoping this one is as good as I’ve heard!

To Catch A Killer by Sheryl Scarborough

American Street by Ibi Zoboi

Once again I’ve heard a lot of good things plus this is a diverse read! I also have to say the Haitian Vodou beliefs that are supposedly represented in this book have me very intrigued as well.

Ten by Gretchen McNeil

A kind of horror/thriller/slasher book based off of Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None” which I am here for.

Bone Gap by Laura Ruby

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

I’m really not sure if I’ll actually enjoy this book or not but it’s a sci-fi with a gorgeous cover so I have my fingers crossed.

Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo

Positive reviews, Wonder Woman, and Leigh Bardugo. I’m sold.

The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo

The hardcover is so gorgeous and the book has some illustrations around each page, it’s seriously beautiful. Plus I’m here for Bardugo’s short stories!

E-Books Hauled

(I forgot to mention a few of these in the last book haul, oops!)

(Also these were ALL purchased on sale for under $5)

Hunted by Meagan Spooner

I was reluctant to read this one since I think Beauty and The Beast retellings are overdone but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it so I decided to give it a shot!

Violet Grenade by Victoria Scott

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

I know this is a book about an incestual relationship between siblings and knowing the content I’ve still heard it’s a good book so I decided to pick it up.

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden
Image result for the bear and the nightingaleOf curse there’s been a slew of great reviews for this one so I wanted to give it a read!

Bird Box by Josh Malerman

Nice fall book haul! 😀 I also picked up copies of Leigh Bardugo’s Wonder Woman novel and The Language of Thorns. I absolutely looooved The Language of Thorns. Her short stories combined with that stunning artwork were just amazing. ❤ (I still need to read my copy of WW: Warbringer though.) Too many good books to read, never enough time! 😛

Thank you! I’m so glad you enjoyed Language of Thorns! I’ve already peeked through the pages and the artwork is stunning, as you said, glad to know the stories are just as amazing!
There definitely are too many great books to read and not enough time, a bookworm’s #1 problem! 🙂

I wonder what you’ll think of Forbidden as I didn’t care for it. I read it & I couldn’t get past the incest relationship sadly.

Yeah I can definitely see why it’d be hard to look past it but I’m hoping I’ll be okay since I know about it going in. I read the whole Flowers in the Attic series by VC Andrews which also featured an incestual relationship and I made it through so hopefully I can make it through Forbidden! It’ll definitely be an interesting book that’s for sure.

Good luck, and should I say enjoy? I feel like it’s one of those books it’s weird to enjoy. Can’t wait for your review! 🙂

I gosh that’s hilarious, I definitely understand what you mean. It’s like hey enjoy but also it’s got really tough subject matter so don’t enjoy that but enjoy the book, haha! Thanks Meghan! 🙂

Nice haul! I finally gave in and bought Language of Thorns…it just called to me lol. I can’t recommend Passion of Dolssa and Hunted enough. Hunted is the best retelling I’ve read since I read The Forbidden Wish last year (and before that was back in high school for my favorite). I’m also reading Bear and the Nightingale and loving it 🙂

Thank you! I don’t blame you at all for giving in to Language of Thorns, it’s beautiful! Really glad to hear you enjoyed both Passion of Dolssa and Hunted! That makes me waaay more excited to read Hunted because I thought The Forbidden Wish was fantastic and probably one of my fave retellings as well!
Glad you’re enjoying Bear and the Nightingale I’ll be on the look out for your review, I’m excited to read that book! 🙂

Thanks! Hunted doesn’t have a prominent romance like Forbidden Wish, but that was one reason why I loved it so much. Yeah Bear and the Nightingale is good; it’s very atmospheric and you definitely learn stuff about Russia which is always a bonus 🙂

Yes, I love the font for Fire and Bone I believe it’s about the daughter of a Celtic goddess which is something pretty unique! 🙂
