Kindle Books I Forgot I Bought: Part 1

Top Ten Tuesday(23)

I am CONSTANTLY forgetting that I own copies of books on my Kindle and sometimes forgetting about the book completely before I see it again on there! I figured this would be a fun post to share with you all so please let me know if you’d like to see a “Part 2”!

These aren’t in any particular order.

P.S. These are all just the books I have not read, there are more on my Kindle that I have read! Plus ARCs.

Angelfall by Susan Ee

This is one of the first books I bought on my Kindle and probably one of the only “fallen angel” books I’m interested in reading because I’ve heard TONS of great things about it. It’s post apocalyptic and the angels are eeeviiil, so I’m in!

The Bird and The Sword by Amy Harmon

I bought this back when Amazon was having a sale for Goodreads Choice books (2016) because it sounded really interesting, I also read a sample and liked it. It’s about a girl with magical abilities whose mother cursed her when she died, the girl may never speak again. It’s a whole bunch of prophecy, a greedy father, and the main character has to marry a cruel prince/king I’m not 100%. It’s all hard to explain but it does sound cool!

My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

An 80’s flavored horror book about a girl whose best friend starts acting differently and she comes to the conclusion that the only reason that’s happening is because her friend is possessed and she must perform an exorcism! This one just sounds like a lot of fun.

All The Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood

This is one of those books where I’m not sure if I’ll like it or not since it depicts a sort of….dysfunctional? But it was on sale and everyone seems to love it. It’s about an eight year old girl with drug dealer parents who don’t care for her or her brother, therefore the responsibility falls on her. She then sees a man who works for her father and who also happens to be an ex-con, wreck his motorcycle and from there they begin a relationship. I’m not 100% sure on the nature of the relationship though.

The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig

I wasn’t too sure about this book since it kind of seems to have mixed reviews but I read a sample of it and it seemed alright with me! I love time travel especially when it includes traveling into myths and legends as well, and when they travel on an old ship…very piratey.

A Madness So Discreet by Mindy McGinnis

Mindy McGinnis has soooo many books I feel like and they all sound interesting! This one is about a girl thrown into an asylum and is then recruited from there by a doctor to help catch a serial killer, it’s historical fiction too. Just sounds like it might be an interesting read!

Nemesis by Brendon Reichs

Another book that sounds kind of odd, but I like books that break the mold and bring something new to the table! It’s about a girl who every two years on her birthday is murdered by a man in cold blood, but then awakens hours later in a clearing outside her home perfectly fine. There’s also an alternating POV of a boy named Noah plagued by nightmares but there’s also a giant asteroid hurtling towards the Earth. AND there’s conspiracies and all sorts of secrets uncovered!

See? It sounds like a TON of stuff going on but it also sounds really unique too!

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Everyone talks about “Graceling” especially if you love fantasy, like I do. I did finally snag a copy on sale for my Kindle so I’m planning on reading it here eventually.

Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen

This one seems like such a hidden gem because it’s hardly ever mentioned and has great reviews! It’s about a city of trolls bound beneath the mountain by a witch’s curse, they then kidnap a girl they think can break the curse.

Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta

Another highly recommended and loved YA fantasy series, so I wanted to give it a try! I got it cheap for my Kindle so now I’m just waiting to read it, which will probably be a while….

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

This was once again a really cheap deal and I’ve heard great things about Kagawa’s writing and I also heard it’s not your run of the mill YA vampire book. I’m all for originality in YA when I can find it!

A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston

I. Love. Retellings.

Avalon by Mindee Arnett

YA science fiction that people compare to “Firefly”, of course I needed to have it! And then forget about it on my Kindle…..

The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd

Anything being labeled as a Gothic thriller has my attention, even if the reviews for it are a bit mixed.

The Uninvited by Cat Winters

I kind of have this thing about buying every Cat Winters book because I enjoyed one. She makes historical fiction interesting to me and she also weaves in elements of the paranormal! In this book the main character can see ghosts that are omens of an impending death.

The Child Thief by Brom

A dark, horror retelling of Peter Pan is all I need to know.

Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

Because everyone and their mother raves about this book and it was on sale and I still haven’t read it! Ahhhhhh!

The Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers

Sooooo I know not a lot of people loved this one but I’m just so suckered in by the synopsis with rival families of assassins trying to kill each other!

Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

Middle Eastern inspired fantasy with mythical creatures and magic!

Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin

An alternate history where the Axis powers won WWII and every year to commemorate their victory they host a motorcycle race and the winner receives an audience with Hitler himself. The main character is a death camp survivor and the resistance has given her a job, to win the race and kill Hitler. This book sounds like it’s filled with action!

Our Lady of the Ice by Cassandra Rose Clare

A murder/mystery type of story with people living under a dome in Antarctica!

Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman

Historical fiction with maybe a bit of fantasy it seems like? I LOVE historical fiction that takes us back into the more ancient periods of time, so much more exciting.

Ohhh, you’ve actually got so many books on this list that are on my TBR too! I really want to read Legacy of Kings, Angelfall, Graceling, Finnikin of the Rock, A Madness So Discreet, All the Ugly and Wonderful Things, and Stolen Songbird.

I also cannot recommend the Wolf By Wolf duology enough. It’s such a unique and wonderful story!

This is such a fun blog post idea! Every time I skim through my kindle, like I have everything sorted by most recent, and once I get about halfway down, I’m like, “When did I buy this? And this? What’s this?! Why haven’t I read THIS yet??” Lol! So I might have to steal this post idea!

Thanks Destiny and go right ahead and give this a try, I’d love to see what’s on your Kindle! 🙂
I also do the same thing, thus the post, I get down to the older books and realize I had books I didn’t even know about or remember! And there’s some really good ones too and then I feel so ashamed of myself!

So many of these are either books I loved or that are on my TBR! Immortal Rules is one of my favourite YA series! It is definitely not your run of the mill Vampire series and it has my all time favourite villain!

Same, I totally forget the ebooks I have on my tablet! And whoa, The Child Thief sounds pretty awesome! I love Peter Pan, so a scary retelling seems up my alley. 😉

I don’t even wanna think about all the Kindle books I’ve bought and never read! The only book I’ve read from your list is Angelfall and it’s a fun read but nothing amazing from what I remember.

My Kindle is still fairly new to me so I’m scared to see what happens the longer I have it, haha, so many unread books! I’m still glad to hear Angelfall was enjoyable, better than it being terrible that’s for sure! 🙂

Of this list, I’ve only read Simon vs. and A Madness So Discreet and I loved both of them! I don’t even want to count the number of books on my ereader, but I will never make it through all of them.

My Kindle is still pretty new to me but I’m sure I’ll accumulate quite a few as well, haha, all of those poor unread books! Glad you enjoyed both Simon and A Madness So Discreet, I don’t hear much about the second one so it’s good to know it’s an enjoyable book! 🙂

I always do this! I’m like “I never buy any books” to myself and then go onto my kindle and buy any book that’s on sale and interesting. I do it more for new adult books than young adult though. And I get A LOT of NA books cause they’re free. I don’t know why but for some reason I don’t like investing the cost of a physical book on a NA novel! 😂 great post anyway. Looks like you got some good books!

Yes, I am the same haha clearly! I always buy sale books too and yeah why invest in a more expensive physical copy when you get get an ecopy for free or a really good price?! 🙂

I have a few of those in physical copy that I still haven’t read; the struggle is so real! I did read A Madness So Discreet but didn’t like it much. I felt like the story lost its focus sometimes and felt like I would’ve enjoyed more of the actual mental asylum more than the murder mystery aspect…

Angel Fall is a book I really like so many people have read and loved, I’ve never read it myself and always forget about it. I’ve also never read anything by Julie Kawaga so excited to see what these books are like when you get round to picking them up!

I tried e-books but I´m exactly the same, I forget that they are there and I never read them. I have read exactly 2 books as e-books and it´s just because I read them in one go, then I downloaded another book and I have never started it.

I have read Angelfall and that my bookish friend is an really awesome book! I was so surpriced afterwards, the world they live in are horrible and just great 😛

Great post! A lot of these are on my TBR too. I read and loved Angelfall but I wasn’t a fan of A Thousand Nights or Stolen Songbird. I hope you enjoy them when you do get around to reading!
