Longest Books On My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday (41)

And also probably the books that intimidate me the most because of their longness! These will be listed in order with the longest book at #1.

It’s a pretty straight forward post!

10.) Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone #3) by Laini Taylor

Number of Pages: 613

I still need to read “Days of Blood & Starlight” but I’ll get here one day! Laini’s writing is gorgeous and her creativity is awing. I can’t wait to dive back into this world she created!

9.) Obsidio (The Illuminae Files #3) by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff

Number of Pages: 615

I CAN’T BELIEVE I HAVEN’T BOUGHT AND READ THIS YET! AHHHHH! Honestly, this one doesn’t intimidate me at all because once I sit down with one of these books I devour it.

8.) Iron Gold (Red Rising Saga #4) by Pierce Brown

Number of Pages: 624

The other book on this list I can’t believe I haven’t bought and read yet because this series is also very addictive and I would love to see how the story continues and get back to some of my favorite characters of all time!

7.) The Way of Shadows by Brent Weeks

Number of Pages: 645

I’ve had a copy of this forever and I’ll read it eventually, because I love a good assassin story. The only problem is I have a mass market paperback and I hate those…

6.) The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

Number of Pages: 647

This is one of those books that I feel like I need to read being a fan of fantasy books and I will. I just need to get to it! I’ve also just heard great things about Brandon Sanderson in general!

5.) The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Number of Pages: 662

Starting to see a pattern here? That all of these are fantasies because fantasies always seem to be super duper long. But I’ve heard great things about this one of course!

4.) Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King & Owen King

Number of Pages: 715

I’m not quite sure what I’ll think of this one but the premise with every woman falling into a sleep and becoming shrouded in a cocoon.

3.) The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks

Number of Pages: 726

Another one I’m a little hesitant with since I’ve heard this one is a bit tedious and I know there’s a TV show as well. Let me know what you thought of this one!

2.) The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

Number of Pages: 1,007

The second Brandon Sanderson book on the list! The size of this one does intimidate me but I also read the entire Song of Ice and Fire series so I think I can handle it!

1.) It by Stephen King

Number of Pages: 1,116

And the second book by King on this list and it’s a whopper! Of course I own a copy and will eventually tackle it but I’ve got to build up the courage (and time) first!

I didn’t like Illuminae but really enjoyed Gemina…. so now I’ve been putting off reading Obsidio… but that one is on my TBR too! Hopefully I’ll get to it soon. And good luck with all of those big books! A lot of them sound really good!

    1. I have not read any of these books, but at least 4 are on my TBR.

    2. Big books don’t intimidate me too much because if it’s interesting enough I’ll stick through. If I need to, I might spend one week reading the first half and put it down to read a different book and come back to it.

    3. What’s the longest book I’ve read? I think the longest book I’ve read is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (US Hardcover is 870 pages). I’ve read thicker books like East of Eden by John Steinbeck, too.

    4. The longest books on my TBR are Anna Karenina, The Fountainhead (maybe?), Le Mis, A Conjuring of Light (ADSOM #3), and Cassandra Clare’s The Dark Artifices books are pretty thick as well.

This was fun. I might consider making a blog post about my big books TBR, too!

The longest book I’ve ever read was 1,178 pages and the longest book currently on my want to read shelf is 1,156 pages. Big books don’t intimidate me at all, I actually enjoy reading big books, I love the challenge.

Yes, I definitely recommend Daughter of Smoke and Bone especially if you already love Laini’s writing style! I think her writing is just gorgeous! 🙂

I agree! But with the Illuminae Files series I just remind myself there’s a lot of pictures and such and it becomes a little less intimidating, haha! 🙂

The Way of Shadows is great. It’s long, but the pace picks up about a few pages in and if you end up loving it as much as I did, then you’ll speed through it. I completed it in about 4 days, but that’s because I had to do daily life stuff, like work.

I’m currently watching the Sword of Shannara series on Netflix and really liking it. I’ve heard a lot of negative reviews about the book but I don’t care. I plan to read it anyway because the world is so interesting. I need to know more about it.

I think I read a sample of Way of Shadows once upon a time, and thought it seemed really fast paced so I bought a copy. Hopefully I will zip through the rest of it like you did!
I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the show too, I’ve debated on starting it or if I should wait and read the book first. I might just watch the show first though, haha! 🙂

Omg IT was sooo long that I found the central part just boring. My longest book is The Lord of the rings, but I managed to read 1 “book” at the time, divided it like the movies.

I’m worried I’ll get bored with IT I mean there’s just know way that long of a book will keep my attention the entire time but I guess I’ll try, haha! Lord of the Rings is definitely a hefty book but if you break it up like you did it does seem less intimidating, I still have yet to read the whole thing! 🙂

The Final Empire looks like a long book but once you start reading, you will never want to stop!
