Most Popular Books On My TBR

Top Ten Tuesday(30)

I thought this would be a fun, quick post to do! This is all according to ratings on Goodreads with #1 being the one with the most ratings. That’s pretty much all there is to it too, so enjoy and let me know if you’ve read any of these!

16.) Stardust by Neil Gaiman
Goodreads Ratings: 292,000+

I mean it’s Neil Gaiman so of course I’m keeping it!

15.) The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
Goodreads Ratings: 318,000+

I really liked “The Monstrumologist” by Yancey and I think alien invasion books sound neat as hell.

14.) Graceling by Kristin Cashore
Goodreads Ratings: 318,000+

It’s kind of my mission in life to read all the popular/staple YA fantasy books so this one of them!

13.) Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Goodreads Ratings: 332,000+

Keeping all Neil Gaiman!

12.) Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard
Goodreads Ratings: 335,000+

Another book I’m just really not sure I’ll like but it’s so hyped I want to try it.

11.) Shiver by Maggie Steifvater
Goodreads Ratings: 384,000+

Well not sure if I’ll enjoy this one since it was part of the whole YA paranormal romance phase but I really like Maggie Steifvater…..

10.) Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
Goodreads Ratings: 420,000+

Yeah, I’m not really sure if I’ll actually enjoy this one or not but Rowell is one of those authors that is so popular that I feel like I should at least give her a try.

9.) The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
Goodreads Ratings: 507,000+

An epic fantasy that I’m super excited to read…eventually…because it’s also kind of intimidating.

8.) Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
Goodreads Ratings: 473,000+

I read “The Husband’s Secret” and while it wasn’t anything spectacular it was a pretty addictive read and what I would classify as a “guilty pleasure” book even though I have no problem saying I read it. It’s just not my usual genre. Anyways I do want to give this other book of Moriarty’s a read especially since HBO has the mini series!

7.) The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan
Goodreads Ratings: 515,000+

Still kind of ashamed of myself for not reading this one yet, but I have the complete series so there’s no excuse. It’s on my TBR for the year too! Riordan books of course are always pretty popular.

6.) It by Stephen King
Goodreads Ratings: 569,000+

This one is going to be a doozy when I get to it, it’s so long!

5.) Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton
Goodreads Ratings: 681,000+

Well one of the reasons I have this on my TBR at all is dinosaurs…..everyone needs a good dinosaur book right?

4.) The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
Goodreads Ratings: 1,000,000+

I read part of it and it’s hilarious, can’t wait to read the rest!

3.) Eragon by Christopher Paolini
Goodreads Ratings: 1,200,000+

Yeaaaaah……as big of a fantasy fan as I am I still haven’t read this one and it sort of is a staple in YA books I feel like.

2.) The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Goodreads Ratings: 3,000,000+

Probably one of the few classics I would have enjoyed reading in school but we just never did. I have my own copy and will give it a read eventually but it’s not going anywhere!

1.) Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone: Illustrated Edition
Goodreads Ratings: 5,000,000+

And of course anything Harry Potter related is going to be at the top of the list! Even though I have read the non-illustrated edition I still think this can count as separate on my TBR.

I’m a Neil Gaiman fan so I’m going to stress the fact that one can NEVER go wrong with a Gaiman text! πŸ™‚

I’m glad you enjoyed it! There’s so many Rowell books out there that I don’t know where to start but Fangirl seems like a good enough one to start with! πŸ™‚

Great Post Heather! Graceling is also on my TBR, I feel like it is loved by so many and like you I definitely want to try reading all the YA staples. I adored Red Queen and became hooked on the series so I hope you do end up enjoying it and also The Great Gatsby is my favourite classic (so far, I don’t read many).

Thank you Hannah! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed both Red Queen and The Great Gatsby, I’m not big on reading classics either but hearing you liked it gives me hope! πŸ™‚

I’m shocked to see Graceling with so many reviews. Graceling was good when it first came out because it was different, but since then there have been SO MANY similar books it may have lost it’s nuance if you read it now. But it was pretty good. I loved the 5th Wave and I think it holds up even though there are similar books. The movie was TERRIBLE tho. Although I loved Eleanor and Park, Fangirl was not my fave-the MC’s voice was annoying but it’s a relatable story. Unpopular opinion-I didn’t like the Red Queen because I already read it when it was called The Hunger Games but lots of people love it as I’m sure you know. I didn’t read Big Little Lies but the show was GREAT and I highly recommend it.

I definitely understand you with Graceling, the strong female protagonist I feel like wasn’t as big of a staple at the time, which it clearly is now. I might have to check out some of Rowell’s other books too, she definitely has quite a few so I’m glad you enjoyed Eleanor and Park! I also have a feeling I won’t enjoy Red Queen, I kept it on my TBR just to read it and give it a try. πŸ™‚

Great post. I loved Big Little Lies. Read the book and watched the show and both were so good. I hope that you will also get to do both. I have FanGirl on my TBR. I haven’t read anything by Rowell yet but like you, I plan to do so especially since her books are so popular.

Thanks for sharing this post. Adding a few more titles to my TBR:-)

I’m glad you liked both the book and show with “Big Little Lies” since I never know when one might be more worth reading/watching than the other! Hopefully we both enjoy Fangirl (or any of Rowell’s books) when we get to them! πŸ™‚

This is a great list Heather. Thanks for sharing and good luck with your TBR pile. I think you have a really good variety of genres here. I have a TBR pile myself that seems to be never-ending. I do have a book that you might want to add to your list! It’s called “To Have and to Hold” by Ketley Allison and it’s got romance, suspense, mystery and more! Emme has been kidnapped and the reader is along for the ride in a POV style that definitely left me chilled. On top of that Emme’s long lost college love, Spence, is now a prosecutor and determined to find her when he’s found out she’s been taken. There are a ton of twists and turns along the way and some major A-HA! moments (which I LOVE). The author has a few book series and some other books I have already added to my TBR list as well (https://ketleyallison.com/). If you do check out this book tell me what you think! I can’t stop thinking about it. Happy reading!
