Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.
It has now been moved over to That Artsy Reader Girl.
I’d just like to say I’m not really a fan of the idea of slaying/hurting a lion (which was the original post title/theme) so that’s why I tweaked the post title a bit, plus it sounds more badass this way in my opinion.
As usual these are in no particular order.
10.) The Boneless Mercies by April Genevieve Tucholke
Release Date: October 2nd, 2018
While I haven’t been the biggest fan of Tucholke’s books in the past I do admit her writing is gorgeous and the idea of a feminist retelling of “Beowulf” has me very excited!
9.) Realm of Ruins (The Nissera Chronicles #2) by Hannah West
Release Date: October 2nd, 2018
I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS FOREVER! I absolutely adored the very underrated “Kingdom of Ash and Briars” and I’m finally getting a sequel!!!!!! This one will weave in retellings of “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid” as well, so freaking pumped!
8.) What The Woods Keep by Katya de Becerra
Release Date: September 18th, 2018
This one sounds so, so good! It’s about a girl who inherits her childhood home on the condition she uncovers its dark secrets. It sounds like it has a lot going on in a good way: her mother’s disappearance a decade ago, her father’s theories on a lost race of supernatural beings, and the main character’s dark dreams of rituals performed in the woods.
It’s like paranormal, fantasy, and thriller all rolled into one!
7.) Beneath the Citadel by Destiny Soria
Release Date: October 9th, 2018
A gorgeous, gorgeous cover for one! It’s a fantasy revolving around rebellion and prophecies.
6.) Nightingale by Amy Lukavics
Release Date: October 1st, 2018
I’ll basically always be excited for anything Amy Lukavics writes.
5.) City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab
Release Date: August 28th, 2018
All I need to know is it’s about ghosts and it’s written by Victoria Schwab.
4.) The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein by Kiersten White
Release Date: September 25th, 2018
This one’s about a girl who is adopted into the Frankenstein family and befriends young Victor. But as years go by she must deal with Victor’s temper and increasingly depraved requests.
3.) In the House in the Dark of the Woods by Laird Hunt
Release Date: October 16th, 2018
An adult horror story set in colonial New England about a Puritan woman who gets lost in woods and must navigate through them. It’s filled with creepy sounding things too!
2.) The Lady’s Guide To Petticoats and Piracy (Guide #2) by Mackenzi Lee
Release Date: October 2nd, 2018
Of course after loving “The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue” I’m so ready for a book all about Felicity!
1.) Vengeful (Villains #2) by V.E. Schwab
Release Date: September 25th, 2018
I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS BOOK FOREVER ALSO! I am so excited to finally be getting this, “Vicious” is seriously perfection! I CANNOT CONTAIN MY EXCITEMENT!
What are some books you’d love to get your hands on early?
Do we have any books in common?

YES!! You’re one of the only people I’ve seen that included Vengeful in their list. We shared that title and Lady’s Guide.
Also, I’ve NEVER heard of Realm of Ruins, but your description makes it sound fantastic! Checking it out today!

Great list for this week! Both Vengeful and The Ladies Guide to Petticoats and Piracy made it on my list this week as well. I feel like I’ve been waiting for Vengeful since even before it was announced (plus it’s by V.E. Schwab, what more so I need to add a book to my TBR list right?) and I LOVED The Gentleman’s Guide so I can’t wait for more from Mackenzi Lee and more from Felicity as well. 🙂

Thank you! I think it’d be really interesting to combine Tucholke’s gorgeous writing with a Beowulf retelling, we shall see I suppose! 🙂
