Book #495
How To Lead A Life of Crime by Kirsten Miller
Date Added: January 9th, 2017

I like the sound of this book with the school for criminals but overall it sounds like the main plot surrounds two “rival” students of opposite genders that are probably going to fall in love. That’s just not really my style.

The Judgement: Go

Book #496
Shadows on the Moon by Zoe Marriott
Date Added: January 9th, 2017

This seems like a really underrated book that’s about a girl who can shadow-weave and is bent on seeking revenge. Its also diverse featuring Asian characters, it just sounds really good!

The Judgement: Keep

Book #497
Splintered by A.G. Howard
Date Added: January 9th, 2017

I just don’t think I’m going to try my luck with Howard’s books, I never seem to hear that great of things about them and they’re either hit or miss. For me I feel like they’d be a miss, even if this one is an Alice in Wonderland retelling.

The Judgement: Go

Book #498
A Good Idea by Cristina Moracho
Date Added: January 9th, 2017

While the idea of this book sounds really good I just think it might end up being too slow for me or not what I signed up for (a mystery/thriller).

The Judgement: Go

Book #499
To Catch a Killer by Sheryl Scarborough
Date Added: January 9th, 2017

I mean the title is pretty self explanatory and if it’s even remotely similar to “I Hunt Killers” I’m definitely in.

The Judgement: Keep

Book #500
See What I Have Done by Sarah Schmidt
Date Added: January 9th, 2017

I was so excited for this book since it’s a sort of retelling of the Lizzie Borden axe murders but I heard it wasn’t all that great. Which is very disappointing.

The Judgement: Go

Book #501
The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich
Date Added: January 9th, 2017

Great premise but I heard the execution wasn’t so great.

The Judgement: Go

Book #502
Bird Box by Josh Malerman
Date Added: January 9th, 2017

This is a shorter book and seems like it’s a slower suspenseful/creepy horror book. I’m here for all the horror books so definitely keeping this one.

The Judgement: Keep

Book #503
Area X: The Southern Reach Trilogy by Jeff VanderMeer
Date Added: January 10th, 2017

Yeah….the only reason I added this was because I heard there was going to be a movie for the first book. I think I’ll just wait for the movie….

The Judgement: Go

Book #504
A Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge
Date Added: January 16th, 2017

I don’t think Hardinge’s books are for me, they’re too slowly paced.

The Judgement: Go

Book #505
Arcadia Awakens by Kai Meyer
Date Added: January 17th, 2017

Mafia families and Sicily. That’s kind of all I needed to know about this book.

The Judgement: Keep

Book #506
Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
Date Added: January 17th, 2017

I feel like I should hold off on adding a bunch of Nova Ren Suma’s books because she has an odd writing style and I do own one of her other already. I’ll wait until I read that ( I did read her short story in “Slasher Girls & Monster Boys” and that’s how I know I think it’s an odd writing style).

The Judgement: Go

Book #507
17 & Gone by Nova Ren Suma
Date Added: January 17th, 2017

See above.

The Judgement: Go

Book #508
Shift by Em Bailey
Date Added: January 17th, 2017

I just have zero interest in reading this one anymore.

The Judgement: Go

Book #509
Zeroboxer by Fonda Lee
Date Added: January 23rd, 2017

I feel like for me Fonda Lee’s books always sound great but leave me feeling “meh”, they aren’t horrible but they aren’t great either. So I think I’ll let this one go.

The Judgement: Go

Book #510
Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella
Date Added: January 23rd, 2017

I’m here for the character with anxiety!!!

The Judgement: Keep

Book #511
The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales & Dangerous Magic by Leigh Bardugo
Date Added: January 31st, 2017

Definitely keeping because the book is beautiful and I’ve heard great things even though I never finished the Grisha trilogy.

The Judgment: Keep

Book #512
Arrows of the Queen by Mercedes Lackey
Date Added: January 31st, 2017

I always feel bad about recommendations I get but I really don’t think I’ll ever make time for this one.

The Judgement: Go

Book #513
Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma
Date Added: February 3rd, 2017

Despite the taboo subject matter (this story has an incestual relationship) I’ve heard good things and want to give it a try.

The Judgement: Keep

Book #514
The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
Date Added: February 6th, 2017

Yeah…..I think I’ll just go watch the TV show instead.

The Judgement: Go

Book #515
The Holders by Julianna Scott
Date Added: February 7th, 2017

Not really sure why I ever added this one…

The Judgement: Go

Book #516
Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Date Added: February 7th, 2017

Just another book I don’t have any interest in reading anymore, it’s just a mystery/thriller.

The Judgement: Go

Book #517
Retribution Rails by Erin Bowman
Date Added: February 7th, 2017

I feel so weird about this one because its a companion novel to “Vengeance Road” which was just okay to me but these covers are just so gorgeous and they’re westerns! So I keep trying them.

The Judgement: Keep

Book #518
The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski
Date Added: February 8th, 2017

Why haven’t I read this yet? I love this series!

The Winner’s Kiss has also been sitting on my TBR for far too long, but there’s just too many books to read! Also Finding Audrey is a really great read, glad you decided to keep it 😊

I am so glad it isn’t just me! Like I sped through the first two books and the last has been sitting here forever, haha! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed Finding Audrey as well! I added it for the anxiety rep so hopefully that’s represented well too! 🙂

I have not read most of these, but I say out with See What I Have Done haha. It so missed the mark for me. The Bird Box is stellar, so I hope you enjoy. Netflix is picking it up *happy dance*. I would actually rec keeping The Handmaid’s Tale. I will say the show is doing a fantastic job, but there is something about Atwood’s writing that speaks to the core of me. I want a fan until these past few years. Happy reading!

I know I remember reading your review for See What I Have Done and a lot of others said it wasn’t that great as well, which is SO disappointing! But there isn’t time to waste with such books so out it did go, haha! WHAT?! Netflix is picking up the Bird Box?! That’s awesome, I’m definitely going to have to read that one here soon then! I may add Handmaid’s Tale back on eventually, which is the case for a lot of these other books too, but I feel like if I don’t currently own it or plan on reading it anytime soon it’s best to go for the time. But I’m glad to hear you enjoy both the book and the show, that’s always nice when the show does a good job! 🙂

I think I liked Retribution Rails better than Vengeance Road. It was such a good companion book. I do hope you read and enjoy it! 🙂

The tv show of The Handmaid’s Tale is really good. I’d highly recommend it! I finished the first season just recently 🙂

To bad for Splintered, because it was one of my favorite Alice in Wonderland retells (though I was never a fan of the original, or really Alice in general).-Sarah
