U.S. versus U.K. Book Covers: Part 2

Top Ten Tuesday(57)

I figured it’s been a while since I did a post like this and my original part 1 has been getting a lot of traffic for some reason. So here’s part 2 and I do have several others to discuss so please let me know if you’d like to see a part 3!

You can check out part one here!

Lost Boy by Christina Henry

Author Bio_.jpg

Winner: U.K. Cover

I actually love the U.K. covers for all of Henry’s books better, they’re a lot more detailed and just overall prettier. I also like that Peter is shown in this cover as well.

LifeL1k3 by Jay Kristoff

Author Bio_(1).jpg

Winner: U.S. Cover

I like the color scheme a lot better on the U.S. cover as well as the typography, the U.K. cover with the giant eye kind of freaks me out!

Circe by Madeline Miller

Author Bio_(2)

Winner: U.K. Cover

While I do enjoy the U.S. cover as well I like the design on the U.K. cover a lot more, this may also have to do with the fact that I normally don’t really like faces on my covers either.

The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw

Author Bio_(3)

Winner: U.S. Cover

They are both very pretty but I like the U.S. cover a lot more, it’s got that pretty opalescent shine as well as the tree branches.

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik

Author Bio_(4)

Winner: U.S. Cover

Normally I think I would pick the U.K. cover on this one but I like the colors and font on the U.S. cover ten times more. It makes it have that fairy tale feel!

The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green

Author Bio_(5)

Winner: U.S. Cover

I do like the pastel watercolor on the U.K. Cover but overall I love that purple and gold color scheme on the U.S. cover as well as the pawn/chess pieces.

Everless by Sara Holland

Author Bio_(6)

Winner: U.S. Cover

The U.S. cover is much more detailed and I like the black and orange a lot better than the red and white.

Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian

Author Bio_(7).jpg

Winner: U.S. Cover

Once again I think the U.S. cover is a lot more detailed, I like the gritty looking crown and darker colors than the bright blue and orange on the U.K. cover.

Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu

Author Bio_(8)

Winner: U.K. Cover

I do enjoy both covers but I adore the more hot pink cover in the U.K. and I like the fist with the stars and all of the typography better too.

Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody

Author Bio_(9)

Winner: U.K. Cover

Both covers are very similar but I like the falling cards and font a bit better than the house of cards and font on the U.S. cover.

I actually prefer the UK cover on all of these accept Spinning Silver and Ace of Shades. I have always been envious of the UK covers for the Christina Henry books though. The US ones are hideous haha. Although I love her work đŸ–¤

Same! I’m actually kind of mad I don’t have the UK copies of Henry’s books they’re quite literally 10x more beautiful, I still love her books as well though! đŸ™‚

I actually prefer the UK covers for Spinning Silver and The Wicked Deep, but I agree with all the rest! I generally think the US has better covers but I’m so thankful they did an amazing job with the UK cover of Circe because it’s one of my most anticipated releases of the year đŸ˜€

It’s a real toss up sometimes but I agree the US covers tend to be better but there’s always quite a few exceptions! I agree the Circe UK cover is STUNNING, I might have to double up on copies just to have it haha! đŸ™‚

I tend to prefer UK covers most of the time, which solidifies my reasoning that I was born in the wrong freaking country! Barring Ace of Shades and Wicked Deep, UK won all for me in this post.

I actually love having two choices for covers sometimes because I can always order the prettier one, haha, even if I’m envious of some of the covers the UK gets! đŸ™‚

That is actually so true!!! Although I am still not as well versed on how to get those special UK covers yet. Having the options is really cool.

Oh sweet I didn’t know it had them frequently! I ordered my UK cover for Legendary on there but that’s the only one so far I’ve looked for and the author linked to the page on Twitter. Thank you!

This is great. I’m UK and it always frustrates me that there are different covers, I want them all!!!! I wonder why they do it?…..

I’m not sure, other than to infuriate us with pretty cover choices (haha)! I definitely know what you mean though but the bright side is if you think one cover isn’t as gorgeous you can always order the other! Book Depository is great for that because free worldwide shipping! đŸ™‚

I love these posts haha! I agree with you on every single one except Ace of Shades, and that’s only because I love both cover options equally for that book!

This just solidifies my thinking that we are twin souls, haha! I agree that the Ace of Shades covers are both great because they’re so similar, which makes choosing all the more infuriating! đŸ™‚
