July Wrap Up

Top Ten Tuesday(11).jpg

I feel so freaking accomplished! Overall I had a fantastic month with both blogging and reading and I’m pretty proud of myself. I read 9 full books and did a whole lot more posts than I usually do and actually kept on top of things pretty well. I’m not going to get my hopes up too much for August but hopefully I’ll do well this coming month too!

Books Read This Month: 10 (Including 1 DNF)

The Final Empire by Brandon SandersonCampfire by Shawn SarlesContagion by Erin BowmanI Am Still Alive by Kate Alice MarshallHullmetal Girls by Emily SkrutskieScream All Night by Derek MilmanIn the Vines by Shannon KirkGirls' Night Out by Liz FentonSea Witch by Sarah HenningHeart of Thorns by Bree Barton

This has honestly got to be one of my greatest reading months all year, especially since there isn’t a single graphic novel or novella used as filler for me! It’s also one of the few times I managed to fully complete my entire TBR for the month as well! I am so freaking proud of myself. But I digress, this was a pretty mixed month for books with some good and some bad.

Favorite reads of the month: Mistborn, Contagion, I Am Still Alive, Scream All Night, and Sea Witch.

Least favorite reads of the month: Campfire (kind of meh and in the middle), Hullmetal Girls, In The Vines (DNF), Girls’ Night Out (another meh one), and Heart of Thorns.

So it’s pretty evenly split with more overall good reads than really bad reads. Which I was pleased with, personally. Also a random tidbit that I noticed while doing this, I only read two books that are a part of a series this month. So strange since I feel there aren’t many YA standalones out there!

Currently Reading:

The Dark Beneath the Ice

I’m over half way through this book and so far I’m not really impressed with it at all. It’s not all that creepy and it’s so, so, so boring. Hopefully my next read “Ruin of Stars” by Linsey Miller goes much better!

Heading to your Sea Witch review now! So many people have not loved this one so we have been debating whether or not to do it.

I’ve seen many mixed reviews as well for Sea Witch and I can see why, it’s very different from what was expected but still a good read. I hope you decide to give it a shot! 🙂

Woooo, awesome reading month! Look at you go! 😀 I hope The Dark Beneath the Ice picks up for you. I have heard such mixed reviews on that one that I’ve been very hesitant to add it to my TBR so I think I’ll just wait for your review lol.

I’m getting better about comments but still not the best and I know you already read my review, haha, but don’t do it! So not the horror book I was expecting, it was definitely more of a psychological thriller that tried to be creepy.

Awesome month Heather! That’s awesome 🙂 I didn’t like Dark Beneath the Ice, ended up DNF’ing it about 35% through. Hopefully is even more awesome!

Thanks Amanda, once again I’m a bit behind with comments (I’m working on it, haha) but I agree with you. I wish I had DNF’d it, but you saved yourself some time because I thought it was just really disappointing overall!

It’s all good! I feel like I get behind as well. Yeah it was sad that it wasn’t worth it :/

    You kicked BOOTY last month!
I read Dark Beneath the Ice and really didn’t like it at all, I hope you wind up enjoying it more than I did.

Wow, sounds like you had an amazing reading and writing month in July! I haven’t read any of the books you read, but have Sea Witch on the TBR pile!
