Books I Loved But Haven’t Reviewed (Yet?)

Top Ten Tuesday (51).jpg

I’m back (finally) with another quick list post, list posts are always my go to because they’re fun and easy! Which is what I need to do right now since I’m so..slumpy. The title of the post is pretty self explanatory, I may review these books at a later time but honestly the odds are, I won’t. There are just some books that I can’t review because they were so good I don’t feel I could properly articulate my experience, but I still want to hype them up!

I will provide reviews I have for books in the series that I have read or books by the same author I have read.

Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios

This was a hard book to read and an even harder one to review, but despite both I feel 100% that it’s a book everyone should read. It deals with abusive relationships both familial and romantic, it’s also the book I want to shove into the faces of those people who always say “why don’t you just leave?” and yell “THIS! THIS IS WHY!”. Extremely well written, heart-breaking, powerful, and important. Definitely can’t express my love for it properly but also a book I highly, highly recommend reading.

Golden Son (Red Rising #2) by Pierce Brown

This book killed me. The empty, soulless husk of my former self is currently writing this post. How do I even review a book that tore me up so much?! That’s why I haven’t done so. My review would probably be me repeating the fact that the ending killed me and all the twists and turns ripped my heart out. Still it is one of the best books I’ve ever read and is my favorite in the trilogy (now series), it’s just as brutal and addicting as the first book. I recommend having the third book on hand though…..trust me.

You can read my full review of “Red Rising” here.

The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson

The world building, the magic system, the character, the STORY! Everything is so in depth, complex, and well written that I feel like my review wouldn’t even begin to do it justice. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry……..you’ll cry some more. If you love fantasy and you you haven’t read this yet, do yourself a favor!

Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

What can I say about Madeline Miller that hasn’t already been said? Probably not a whole lot because she really is an all around amazing author. Her writing is gorgeous and she makes Greek mythology 10x more fascinating than it already was to start, the way she told Patroclus and Achilles’ story was just so engrossing and heart breaking. It’s the kind of story that’s hard to review because a lot of us already know how this ends from “The Iliad”.

Also a book even better than “Song of Achilles”? “Circe”. Another book I really enjoyed and you can check out my full review of that book here. (I reviewed it because I had an ARC )

Down Among The Sticks and Bones (Wayward Children #2) by Seanan McGuire

I very much enjoyed “Every Heart A Doorway” the first novella in this series, it’s something that is just so unbelievably relatable to me as a fan of all things fantasy as a child (and still now). The sequel(s) is also amazing and this one told us about Jack and Jill’s world they visited, which the world building was fantastic! I actually will probably review both this one and “Beneath the Sugar Sky” at some point.

Night Film by Marisha Pessl

I love this freaking book so much, honestly I should have reviewed it but it was just one of those books where I fangirled more than anything! This is the PERFECT blend of mystery, thriller, and horror I was just completely blown away by how amazing this book was! For a 600 page book I flew through it, which was surprising. It’s about a journalist and the mysterious suicide of a shut in, cult director’s daughter, I thought the mystery behind the horror movie director made the whole book but really the whole book is just so, so good.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Does this even need to be explained? You all already know how good this book is. I couldn’t even begin to write a comprehensive review of it, and to be fair it’s just one of those books that doesn’t even need a review. It’s just that good. Beautifully written and wonderfully atmospheric, I can’t recommend this magical book enough. Plus who doesn’t love a good circus theme?

The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle #2) by Maggie Stiefvater

When I read “The Raven Boys” I was not expecting to love it as much as I did, the hype was 100% real! I immediately went into the bookstore to buy “The Dream Thieves” once I finished it and devoured that one as well, I still need to finish the series but I know I’ll fly through the rest. Sequels are always hard for me to review especially spoiler free which is part of why I just never reviewed this one. Hopefully I can do one here eventually because I’d like to review the whole series.

I love this idea! I find it so difficult to review books that I have loved, especially when it seems like other people have reviewed them much more eloquently than me. Great idea doing this!
