More 2019 Releases I’m Pumped For!

Top Ten Tuesday(44).jpg

Judging by how much everyone seemed to enjoy my last 2019 releases post (which you can view here) I decided to do another one, there’s certainly no shortage of releases to discuss! It’s a bit early to be hyping up this many books for next year but I cannot be stopped! Mwahahahaha!

Ship of Smoke and Steel by Django Wexler
Release Date: January 22nd

A YA fantasy about a female main character whose abilities allow her to access the “Well of Combat” which she should have declared to His Imperial Majesty and placed herself in his service. When she is discovered they send her on an impossible mission to steal a legendary ghost ship from which no one has ever returned and if she fails her sister’s life is forfeit.

This sounds so awesome, I mean especially since there’s a GHOST SHIP!

The Sword & The Dagger by Robert Cochran
Release Date: April 9th

Another Tor Teen publication, woohoo! This is set during the time of the Crusades where a princess, her affianced prince, and a Muslim assassin set out to the court of Ghengis Khan.

See? These are the kinds of books I need! Historical fiction set in different time periods and different settings!

An Anatomy of Beasts (Faloiv #2) by Olivia A. Cole
Release Date: April 16th

You guys know how much I loved “A Conspiracy of Stars”, it’s such a YA sci-fi hidden gem and I wish more people would give it a read! It’s a lot like James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ with the native peoples, flora, and fauna it’s so interesting and unique! It does start off a bit slow but it’s such an interesting world and the action picks up significantly by the end. I cannot wait for the sequel especially after that cliffhanger ending.

(You can read my full review here.)

Tarot by Marissa Kennerson
Release Date: February 19th

It’s about a fantasy world inspired by Tarot cards and that right there is really neat. The main character is born of a queen and the tyrannical king’s archnemesis and is locked away in the Tower with her mentors and friends being the Hermit, the Fool, and the Magician. I think this is a super neat idea, seriously, I’m curious to see how it plays out!

Dragon Pearl by Yoon Ha Lee
Release Date: January 15th

A Middle Grade space opera with Korean mythology and a main character who is descended from a long line of fox spirits. This just sounds amazing and you know it’s going to be good since it’s by Rick Riordan presents.

Queen’s Shadow by E.K. Johnston
Release Date: March 5th

It’s a YA Padme Amidala book by E.K. Johnston! This is not a drill!

Avatar: The Rise of Kyoshi by F.C. Yee
Release Date: July 16th

A Kyoshi book is happening! This is also not a drill! One of my favorite Avatars and we finally get a whole novel of backstory!

Girls on the Verge by Sharon Biggs Waller
Release Date: April 9th

This is something that is outside of my comfort zone but it sounds really good! It’s a coming of age story about a young woman going on a road trip with two friends to get an abortion after learning she is pregnant the very night she is accepted into a prestigious theater program.

I just feel this is going to be a very powerful read.

    Great list!

    1. I read an ARC of Dragon Pearl a little while ago and really enjoyed it. Loved the main character.
    2. Did you read the YA book by Claudia Grey about Leia? It was excellent. Looking forward to this one about Padme.

Oooh, this list! I haven’t heard of a few of these. The Sword & The Dagger sounds so cool and I’m adding it to my TBR! Tarot also sounds really interesting but I’m a teensy bit nervous about it, as someone who reads tarot cards, so I hope it does tarot justice!! And yessss to the Kyoshi book! *heart eyes forever* I’m also definitely adding Girls on the Verge to my TBR. I’ve only ever seen abortion really discussed in one YA book and that was Aftercare Instructions by Bonnie Pipkin, but I think it’s something we need to see more of because it’s a reality for so many teens!
