Darkdawn (The Nevernight Chronicles #3) by Jay Kristoff
Release Date: September 3rd

NO I HAVEN’T READ “GODSGRAVE” YET, I AM SO ASHAMED! I usually don’t talk too much about books releasing that I haven’t read the predecessors for yet. BUT! It’s just such a good series and I have a lot of love for Jay Kristoff so I’m going to mention it anyways. I can’t wait to finish this series, it’s just awesome.

Loki: Where Mischief Lies by Mackenzi Lee
Release Date: September 3rd

It’s a Loki book. It’s a Loki book where the character is actually being shown as genderfluid. It’s YA. Let’s rock.

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
Release Date: September 3rd

A surprise marriage between a witch and a witch hunter of the Church (sworn to kill witches). I’m game for anything with witches but forbidden romance really hits it home for me!

American Royals by Katharine McGee
Release Date: September 3rd

The title really speaks for itself here, I think. It’s about America but with a royal family instead, filled with all the drama you can possibly imagine! I’m a huge sucker for books about modern royalty.

There Will Come A Darkness by Katy Rose Pool
Release Date: September 3rd

A YA fantasy where long ago the Prophets that led humanity disappeared and left behind a prophecy. The prophecy foretold the coming of an age of darkness and the birth of a new Prophet that will either save the world or destroy it.

The Lady Rogue by Jenn Bennett
Release Date: September 3rd

I mean, I think this little blurb says it all:

The Last Magician meets A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue in this thrilling tale filled with magic and set in the mysterious Carpathian Mountains where a girl must hunt down Vlad the Impaler’s cursed ring in order to save her father.

Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron
Release Date: September 3rd

Failing to call forth her powers in a family of witch doctors she resorts to selling years of her life in exchange for magic. She discovers the Demon King is stirring and she must pay the price for the magic capable of stopping him.

To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers
Release Date: September 3rd

A sci-fi novella where instead of terraforming planets to sustain human life, explorers of the solar system instead transform themselves to inhabit and explore new planets. Sounds interesting and novellas are always such great, quick reads!

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
Release Date: September 10th

Honestly there’s so much about this book that sounds AMAZING and it’s already got a ton of hype but it’s about lesbian necromancers!

The Magnolia Sword: A Ballad of Mulan by Sherry Thomas
Release Date: September 10th

An OwnVoices Mulan retelling, need you know more?

A Treason of Thorns by Laura E. Weymouth
Release Date: September 10th

A girl living in exile wishes to return to her house, one of the great houses of England. The house’s magic kept the countryside well and her father was executed for treason, trying to free the house from the king’s control.  When she’s given the chance to go back to the house she discovers it crumbling and the magic has turned dark and deadly. She now must decide how far she’s willing to go to save it.

His Hideous Heart by Various Authors
Release Date: September 10th

This is an anthology where Edgar Allan Poe’s works are re-imagined! I’m currently reading it and it’s as awesome as it sounds!

Mother Knows Best by Kira Peikoff
Release Date: September 10th

I’m not sure hot to sum this up to be shorter, but it sounds really good! Definitely a unique concept I think!

Claire Abrams’s dreams became a nightmare when she passed on a genetic mutation that killed her little boy. Now she wants a second chance to be a mother, and finds it in Robert Nash, a maverick fertility doctor who works under the radar with Jillian Hendricks, a cunning young scientist bent on making her mark—and seducing her boss.

Claire, Robert, and Jillian work together to create the world’s first baby with three genetic parents—an unprecedented feat that could eliminate inherited disease. But when word of their illegal experiment leaks to the wrong person, Robert escapes into hiding with the now-pregnant Claire, leaving Jillian to serve out a prison sentence that destroys her future.

Ten years later, a spunky girl named Abigail begins to understand that all is not right with the reclusive man and woman she knows as her parents. But the family’s problems are only beginning. Jillian, hardened by a decade of jealousy and loss, has returned—and nothing will stop her from reuniting with the man and daughter who should have been hers.

Stormrise by Jillian Boehme
Release Date: September 10th

A girl who disguises herself as a man will do whatever it takes to awaken the dragons and save her kingdom. One word: DRAGONS!

A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie
Release Date: September 17th

I think Joe Abercrombie writes great fantasy so I’m basically going to add anything he has coming out. This one his multiple characters and POVs in a world where machines are on the rise but magic refuses to die.

The Umbrella Academy, Vol. 3: Hotel Oblivion by Gerard Way & Gabriel Ba
Release Date: September 17th

Volume 3 of Umbrella Academy, finally! I haven’t read the prequel about Number Five yet but honestly I’ve been waiting to find out what happens after the events in “Apocalypse Suite”!

The Babysitter’s Coven by Kate Williams
Release Date: September 17th

I’m always here for the witchy books and this sounds super fun!

Adventures in Babysitting meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer in this funny, action-packed novel about a coven of witchy babysitters who realize their calling to protect the innocent and save the world from an onslaught of evil.

The Chilling Effect by Valerie Valdes
Release Date: September 17th

A hilarious, offbeat debut space opera that skewers everything from pop culture to video games and features an irresistible foul-mouthed captain and her motley crew, strange life forms, exciting twists, and a galaxy full of fun and adventure.

Basically it sounds like a ton of fun plus CATS!

Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall
Release Date: September 24th

Okay, so I really enjoyed Kate Alice Marshall’s novel “I Am Still Alive” so I was excited for her new release. But then I found out it was like a book version of ‘The Blair Witch Project’ and I was PUMPED! Bring it on!

In the faux-documentary style of The Blair Witch Project comes the campfire story of a missing girl, a vengeful ghost, and the girl who is determined to find her sister–at all costs.

The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones
Release Date: September 24th

A girl scraping by with her siblings working as gravediggers in a remote village on the edge of a deadly mountain range. The dead rise and attack the living as the result of an age old curse and when an apprentice mapmaker arrives in town they attack with a new ferocity. Together they must enter the mountains and search for a way to end the curse.

The Tenth Girl by Sara Faring
Release Date: September 24th

A YA gothic psychological thriller with lots of Patagonian myth. Set in Argentina it’s about a girl fleeing the military regime that took her mother and takes up as a young teacher at an elite finishing school. The school, however, is harboring strange and dark secrets and when one of the students goes missing she must uncover these secrets through spirits.

The Monster of Elendhaven by Jennifer Giesbrecht
Release Date: September 24th

A new Tor novella!

The city of Elendhaven sulks on the edge of the ocean. Wracked by plague, abandoned by the South, stripped of industry and left to die. But not everything dies so easily. A thing without a name stalks the city, a thing shaped like a man, with a dark heart and long pale fingers yearning to wrap around throats. A monster who cannot die. His frail master sends him out on errands, twisting him with magic, crafting a plan too cruel to name, while the monster’s heart grows fonder and colder and more cunning.

These monsters of Elendhaven will have their revenge on everyone who wronged the city, even if they have to burn the world to do it.
