March Book Haul!

Top Ten Tuesday(1).jpg

I feel like I’ve been doing a haul every month now which is both a good and bad thing! The good thing is: books! The bad thing is: my bank account probably isn’t too happy with me….

There are so many great books though I mean how can I resist? As usual I’ll do the eBooks first and then move onto physical ARCs and copies I have purchased.

February Book Haul: 20 Books!

Top Ten Tuesday(25)

I wasn’t really planning on doing a book haul this month but I have gotten so many ARCs that I decided, why not? Normally I don’t get tons of ARCs at all but recently I have been which is really exciting for me! I did purchase four books on here but that’s it, the rest are review copies sent to me by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This is my book haul composed of Christmas gifts, my Book Outlet Boxing Day sale haul, some super cheap Kindle deals, and ARCs!

my page divider

Mary: Unleashed by Hillary Monahan

I really enjoyed the first book and this one is super short so I’m really excited to have it. I love YA horror books especially when they are this creepy!

The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows

I wasn’t too sure about this one but I love YA Fantasy and I did love “My Lady Jane” which Jodi Meadows co-wrote, so I want to give it a shot. Plus Book Outlet is super cheap!

House of Furies by Madeleine Roux

Another YA Horror book I got cheap from Book Outlet!

Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer

This one is a Sleeping Beauty retelling but it hasn’t gotten the best reviews, but I’m hoping I’ll still enjoy it.

The Freemason’s Daughter by Shelley Sackier

A historical fiction set in Scotland, I absolutely adore Scotland settings so I’m excited to read this one.

Jane, Unlimited by Kristin Cashore

I’m not exactly sure what this book is actually about but it seems like it might be interesting…

I am Princess X by Cherie Priest

I get a very good “geek girl” vibe from this book and it’s got some of the fictional web comics throughout it as well. It seems fun!

The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis

A book about rape culture and also a mystery/thriller, it sounds fantastic.

Warcross by Marie Lu

Super hyped book with a gorgeous cover, I used a giftcard from Christmas to buy a signed copy. I love video games so I’m excited to read this one and see what all the hype is about.

A Map For Wrecked Girls by Jessica Taylor

The cover is super vibrantly colored and it seems like an okay story, I got it for 60% off since my local bookstore is going out of business.

Golden Son by Pierce Brown

My boyfriend got this for me for Christmas so I am SUPER pumped to continue this series because it’s freaking amazing!

The Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco

I received this ARC for review and I loooooved “The Bone Witch” so definitely looking forward to reading the sequel!

Furyborn by Claire Legrand

Another ARC I received for review and it sounds fantastic with assassins and Sun Queens and Blood Queens. Hopefully it’s as amazing as it sounds.

Roar by Cora Carmack

A YA Fantasy with characters who can control storms, it sounds so badass and so I got a copy from Book Outlet.

Beautiful Broken Girls by Kim Savage

I was sent this copy from Kim Savage herself, she’s amazing and I’m super grateful and very excited to read it!

The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Maxwell’s other book “Unhooked” but everyone seemed to really love this one and I adore the cover so I wanted to give it a shot.

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

The other book my boyfriend got my for Christmas, I was super excited since it’s the 10th anniversary edition and it is absolutely gorgeous!

my page divider

**** And now for the eBook portion of the haul! These were all super cheap Kindle deals and ARCs! ****

Untitled design (19).jpg

Geekerella by Ashley Poston

A “geeky” retelling of Cinderella, I think it sounds like it’s worth reading because I love retellings and books with geek culture!

Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia

I usually don’t go for YA contemporaries or romances but this one sounds adorable and everyone seems to love it, it’s also about a girl who writes web comics so it comes with a side of geeky which I always love.

The Seventh Bride by T. Kingfisher

A Bluebeard retelling and it’s also super short, I figured it’d be worth a read since I love retellings.

The Butterfly Garden by Don Hutchison

I’ve actually seen quite a few good reviews for this one and once again it’s pretty short so I wanted to give it a read.

Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

Vikings! A YA Fantasy that’s Viking inspired, I am here for it and so excited to read it!

Fatal Throne by Various Authors

This is an anthology of stories all featuring the wives of Henry VIII, each other contributes a story for each wife. It sounded interesting so I requested it hopefully it doesn’t disappoint.

The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton

This is a READ NOW on Netgalley guys! So if you want it go get it! I am so excited to have a copy of this book, although I did hear it might just be a sampler but that wasn’t stated on Netgalley and it seems to be the full book I downloaded onto my Kindle. So.

Blood and Sand by C.V. Wyk

This is about gladiators and also I think Spartacus, so I am pumped to read this. Hopefully it’s as badass as I think it will be!

20+ Books! Black Friday/November Book Haul

Top Ten Tuesday(12)

So I didn’t end up getting TOO crazy on Black Friday with my book purchases since I didn’t buy anything from Book Outlet but I still did haul quite a few PLUS I got a ton of ARCs as well. So here they all are! I’ll do the physical copies first and then do the ebooks last!

I was also expecting another ARC to arrive and for some reason it hasn’t yet (wasn’t sent when I was told or got lost in the mail!) so I’m going ahead with this haul since there will probably be another one after Christmas!

my page divider

The Wicked + The Divine Vol. 5: Imperial Phase 1 by Kieron Gillen

I absolutely LOVE this series and some RUDE person decided they weren’t going to bring back the library’s copy so I went ahead and ordered my own. I’m really excited to continue with these graphic novels, they’re just so so good!

Artemis by Andy Weir

I have actually been hearing a lot of mixed things about this book which is kind of a shame since it sounds amazing, but I got it on Black Friday for a good price so I’ll give it a go!

The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman

I got this on Black Friday from the bargain priced section at Books-a-Million, it’s pretty and I’ve been curious about this one.

Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao

This one and the next three books were all ordered online on Black Friday.

I love the cover for this it’s a gorgeous green color and I think that it sounds amazing. It’s an East Asian retelling of the Evil Queen legend in which a peasant girl desires to become an Empress but must do evil things in order to get there.

The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty

Not only am I here for the fantasy but I’m also here for the Egyptian setting and characters.

Invictus by Ryan Graudin

Every time I read the synopsis I get REALLY excited to read this one, I mean they travel through time to steal things!

Berserker by Emmy Laybourne

This is based on the Norse wariors called Berserkers and a girl who has inherited the power, however, after killing someone her and her siblings must flee to America and out West onto the frontier to find their Uncle. They’re also guided by a young cowboy. So Vikings and Cowboys, count me in!

Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser

First of all I love the cover/spine on this book because the title is glitter, GLITTER! Plus it sounds amazing, it’s about a girl whose family is called to the river by the river god to go on voyages essentially. Then the main character must try and free her father by delivering  a crate and gets caught up in politics, lies, and PIRATES! I’m here for pirates.

The Kingdom of Little Wounds by Susann Cokal

Love the cover and it’s about a kingdom’s royal family falling ill under the influence of a mysterious plague and the two main characters, servants in the castle, become intertwined in the court’s politics and power plays. Plus it’s Scandinavian!

The Amateurs by Sara Shepard

My local bookstore is going out of business so books were 40% off and  this is one of the ones I nabbed, it sounds like a decent enough mystery/thriller so I decided to give it a try.

These Broken Stars by Meagan Spooner & Amie Kaufman

I have debated on buying this book so many times I finally just decided to do it, the cover is so pretty!

The Rogue Queen by Emily R. King

This is the third book in the Hundredth Queen series and I received this copy for review. I was also being sent the sequel “The Fire Queen” for review as well (and was the reason I waited so long to do this post) but haven’t gotten quite yet!

Night of Cake and Puppets by Laini Taylor & Jim Di Bartolo

I haven’t finished the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy yet and I know this story is a tie-in novella but I couldn’t pass it up at 40% off since I know I’ll read it! I adore Laini Taylor!

A Torch Against The Night by Sabaa Tahir

I finally got a copy of this! I’m ready to be completely stressed out again, but in a good way!

I received an ARC for the upcoming blog tour (December 27th is when I’m scheduled!) and it’s about Valkyries, it was excellent!

The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross

Image result for queen's rising

I was completely blown away when I recieved all of these next 9 ARCs via Edelweiss, honestly so surprised I got any of them and also super excited to read them!

This is a YA Fantasy about a girl who gets swept up in a plot to overthrow the king, I’m guessing lots of political intrigue so I am sold!

Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston

Image result for heart of iron book

I am SO PUMPED to read this book, honestly! I love YA sci-fi and this one is about a girl and her android who were rescued by crew in space and when the android starts glitching she will stop at nothing to fix him but is beaten to what she needs by a boy. Then when things go wrong they both end up as fugitives with the entire kingdom after them!

Beyond a Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake

Image result for beyond the darkened shore

Another YA Fantasy about a Princess who has the ability to control her enemies’ minds and actions but she starts having visions of an even worse threat, which everyone disregards. She meets an enemy leader who is having the same visions and they must team up to defeat the growing evil.

The Tombs by Deborah Schaumberg

Image result for the tombs deborah schaumberg

A YA Fantasy/Historical Fiction about a girl who starts developing the same powers that got her mother locked up in the Tombs asylum, however, when she causes an explosion at the factory she must run and hide and learn to use her power.

Devils Unto Dust by Emma Berquist

Image result for devils unto dust

A plague has gone across the West Texas desert and infected people, called shakes, attack the living (basically zombies) and when Willie’s dad steals money from the most dangerous shake-hunter in town she is sent into the desert to find her dad.

It’s very much horror meets western and I am here for it!

A Conspiracy of Stars by Olivia A. Cole

Image result for a conspiracy of stars

I actually JUST finished this ARC yesterday and it was excellent! It’s very reminiscent of James Cameron’s Avatar, very imaginative and fascinating.

Honor Among Thieves by Rachel Caine

Image result for honor among thieves by rachel caine

A YA Sci-fi about a girl who is recruited into the Honors which is an elite team of humans selected by the Leviathan, a race of sentient alien ships, to explore the universe as their passengers.

This seriously sounds awesome.

Image result for dread nation

In Civil War era America the dead have risen and the new nation’s law requires children (Native and African American) to train in combat schools and learn how to put down the dead. However, all Jane wants is to return to her home in Kentucky but soon gets caught up in conspiracy when families start to go missing.

It’s diverse and it’s got zombies, I am ready to love this!

Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody

Image result for ace of shades

I honestly am so excited I recieved an ARC of this! Casino families, gangs, and secrets!

Fall Book Haul!

Top Ten Tuesday (29).jpg

These are some books that were SUPPOSED to be a part of my last book haul (which you can check out here) but I did the post after I ordered them soooo here we are with another book haul!

This will be kind of a short post since I don’t really have too much to say about any of these books but I am excited to read them all!

Hope you guys enjoy!

ARCs Received:

Fire and Bone by Rachel A. Marks

The Upside of Falling Down by Rebekah Crane

These are two ARCs I received unsolicited from the publisher but I’m looking forward to reading both of them with release dates in January and February!

Books I Purchased or Were Gifted To Me:

Scythe by Neal Shusterman

The Passion of Dolssa by Julie Berry

I’ve honestly been waiting forever to get my hands on this book, I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I want to try and broaden my reading horizons a bit. I don’t usually like historical fiction but I’m hoping this one is as good as I’ve heard!

To Catch A Killer by Sheryl Scarborough

American Street by Ibi Zoboi

Once again I’ve heard a lot of good things plus this is a diverse read! I also have to say the Haitian Vodou beliefs that are supposedly represented in this book have me very intrigued as well.

Ten by Gretchen McNeil

A kind of horror/thriller/slasher book based off of Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None” which I am here for.

Bone Gap by Laura Ruby

A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray

I’m really not sure if I’ll actually enjoy this book or not but it’s a sci-fi with a gorgeous cover so I have my fingers crossed.

Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo

Positive reviews, Wonder Woman, and Leigh Bardugo. I’m sold.

The Language of Thorns by Leigh Bardugo

The hardcover is so gorgeous and the book has some illustrations around each page, it’s seriously beautiful. Plus I’m here for Bardugo’s short stories!

E-Books Hauled

(I forgot to mention a few of these in the last book haul, oops!)

(Also these were ALL purchased on sale for under $5)

Hunted by Meagan Spooner

Image result for hunted meagan spooner

I was reluctant to read this one since I think Beauty and The Beast retellings are overdone but I’ve heard a lot of good things about it so I decided to give it a shot!

Violet Grenade by Victoria Scott

(Over Due) Huge Book Haul!

Top Ten Tuesday (26)

Honestly I should have been doing book hauls every time I got a decent amount of books but here I am piling them all together into one! These are books I collected over the summer and part of fall here and there definitely are a ton to share!

I did actually order another small haul from Book Outlet here as well as a few other books I just picked up but I decided instead of waiting to include them I’d just maybe do another book haul here shortly.

So without further ado let’s get into this book haul!

my page divider

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling 20th Anniversary Edition

This was something I was super pumped to get for my birthday because I didn’t think anyone would actually get it for me! This is the UK hardback Ravenclaw edition (because I am a Ravenclaw, of course!) and it’s absolutely gorgeous it has blue edged pages with yellow stripes. There’s also just some fun little “facts” about Ravenclaw house as well as a beautiful map of Hogwarts inside as well.

I also received those gorgeous Harry Potter bookmarks with it!

The Wood by Chelsea Bobulski

Mostly I wanted this for the cover which is gorgeous and creepy all at once with a leaf dripping blood. It seems creepy but also not, if that makes sense? There’s portals and woods and it all sounds super interesting!

Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi

I literally waited forever for Book Outlet to get copies of this one in! I’ve been wanting to read something by Tahereh Mafi for a while but her Shatter Me series doesn’t seem up my alley and so I wanted to try this one. Plus the cover is really vibrant and colorful.

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

Another Book Outlet purchase, I wasn’t originally going to buy this book but since everything is so cheap on Book Outlet I decided I might as well. I’m always a sucker for pirate books so hopefully this one lives up to some expectations.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

Everyone was hyping this book up quite a bit and normally I’m not a huge contemporary reader but I thought it sounded interesting and I do want to broaden my bookish horizons a bit!

Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman

Norse Mythology plus Neil Gaiman? I was sold instantly! Of course I needed to buy it!

Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza

This one had pretty good reviews and I honestly need more great YA sci-fi books in my life, that’s all!

The Valiant by Lesley Livingston

A female gladiator? Once again, sold instantly.

Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios

The cover is gorgeous and this seems like a really unique contemporary since it focuses on a dysfunctional and abusive relationship.

A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

I haven’t read AGOS yet but I figured while Book Outlet still had copies of this that I would buy it that way I had the next book right away!

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Of course I bought this because I adore Laini Taylor and need ALL her books in my life.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

So originally I wasn’t going to buy this book either since I’m iffy on whether I’d enjoy it or not but once again Book Outlet! I figured since it was cheap I’d just buy it and hopefully enjoy it, if not at least it’s pretty.

Little Monsters by Kara Thomas

I loved Thomas’s other book “The Darkest Corners” and so I had to buy her newest book, she really knows how to write some great twisted thrillers!

Because You Love To Hate Me stories selected by Amerie

A good amount of hype plus short stories told from the villains POV and some great YA authors collaborating with Booktubers? I definitely had to check this one out.

It by Stephen King

Yes, yes I did just buy this book after seeing the movie! The movie of course was excellent and I highly recommend seeing it! This is a pretty intimidating book but I do want to read it eventually because I also adore Stephen King.

The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima

More fantasy books, woohoo! I really need to start reading some of her books because now I have two from each of her series….

The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

I wasn’t going to buy this one but I’ve decided to start ignoring reviews on certain things and just try it myself especially since I really love fantasy books.

Sabriel by Garth Nix

Moooooore fantasy books….

The Devils You Know by M.C. Atwood

Horror book for Halloween, right? This was an ARC sent to me for review.

No Saints in Kansas by Amy Brashear

Another ARC sent to me for review, this one is based off of “In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote which sounds super interesting.

The Hollow Girl by Hillary Monahan

Another ARC that I have reviewed already, it was absolutely freaking fantastic.

(Review Here)

The Hanging Girl by Eileen Cook

An ARC once again. Very fast paced with some great twists, it’s perfect for non-horror readers for Halloween.

(Review Here)

Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan

I finally bought the entire box set from Book Outlet! Super excited to dive back into some Riordan books because of course they’re always fun, fast, and fantastic!

The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson

The year I started blogging this was a new release and it’s a fantasy about a girl going “undercover” in order to infiltrate the rulers who conquered her homeland, there’s also a F/F romance. Sounds super good and Book Outlet had this one on sale so of course I scooped it up!

HUGE Christmas 2016 Book Haul

It’s finally book haul time! Woohoo! These are books that I bought a few days before Christmas, got for Christmas, and got right after Christmas! There are quite a few books here guys so buckle in!

my page divider

The Physical Books!

(I got a lot of these from Book Outlet during their Boxing Day Sale just a little FYI)

Night Film by Marisha Pessl

I actually have already finished this book since I got it and will hopefully have a review up for it soon because it is dark, twisted, and just all around amazing! I can already say I highly recommend reading it.

In Real Life by Corry Doctorow

One of the many graphic novels I see others reading and recommending so I wanted to give it a try especially since it’s about female gamers…which I am also.

Adulthood is a Myth by Sarah Anderson

A collection of hilarious mini comics that I found to not only be funny but also very relatable! I am not sure if I’m going to have a mini review for this one or not and I’m also not sure it’s worth $10 even if it is hilarious because it was so short and quick….hmmmm.

Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger

This one I am a little leery of because it’s out of my comfort zone and it seems people either love it or hate it but I might as well give it a go because I got it pretty cheap from Book Outlet! This is a steampunk/historical fiction combo about girls attending a boarding school where they learn…well etiquette and espionage.

The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North

I actually picked this one up after seeing Regan talk about it on her Youtube channel Peruse Project. It sounded really interesting and the title is pretty self explanatory.

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein

I actually find the WWII era very interesting but unfortunately I don’t always enjoy historical fiction. This book is about a pair of women on a vital mission for the Allied war effort but one has to bail out of their plane over enemy territory and is capture, she then recounts her tale for her captors.

Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol

Another graphic novel I’ve had recommended to me many times about a girl who finds herself befriending a ghost who she meets at the bottom of an old well.

Burial Rites by Hannah Kent

Another book I picked up because of Regan at Peruse Project, this book is about a woman convicted of the murder of her former master and is sent to live with a family and await execution. So I’m thinking this will be a sort of character study/family study.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I FINALLY GOT A COPY! I can hopefully start it soonish but right now I have too many ARCs that need reading. I don’t think I need to explain why this one is so exciting.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller

Once I read the description I was SOLD, I absolutely love Greek mythology so a sort of retelling of the Trojan War sounds amazing! Plus I like picturing Achilles as Brad Pitt from “Troy”……if you haven’t seen that movie I highly recommend it not only for the plot but also the eye candy…..

Related image

(I’ll just leave this right here.)

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

This just sounds like a fun book and a little out of my comfort zone but I’d like to give it a shot. It’s about a Southern belle who suddenly finds herself part of an ancient order of guardians and must protect a school reporter. Like I said it just sounds like a fun book.

The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma

I like Nova Ren Suma’s type of “weird” and I think she has a unique style of writing just that had me interested in this book. It’s also apparently a mystery/thriller with a horror/paranormal twist, which I’m all about.

Strands of Bronze and Gold by Jane Nickerson

This one is a retelling of the Bluebeard fairy tale and just that had me sold on this book plus it was only $0.99 on Book Outlet so that helps.

Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

I’m actually not quite sure how to describe this book or really what it’s even about but it’s a contemporary and it’s highly recommended by everyone who’s read it. I have very good feeling it will make me cry and break my heart though.

The Rook by Daniel O’Malley

Lots of reviewers I trust enjoyed this book and it sounds interesting, like a good mystery/thriller on top of some urban fantasy.

In The Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters

I read and loved her other book “The Steep and Thorny Way” she blends historical fiction and the paranormal together seamlessly. So for someone like me who gets bored pretty easily with historical fiction Cat Winters makes it very interesting.

The Women in the Walls by Amy Lukavics

I thought Lukavics other book “Daughters Unto Devils” was fantastic and actually scary and suspenseful! So of course I want to read her new book that sounds and LOOK equally as terrifying!

The Call by Peadar O’Guilin

A YA horror book that also has some Irish mythology and I’ve seen this book floating around with great reviews so I’m excited to see what this one’s all about.

The Queen of Blood by Sarah Beth Durst

An epic fantasy book (that will be a series) about spirits who want to rid their land of humans and the queens who use magical abilities to protect them. Just sounds awesome and I am a stickler for fantasy.

Survive The Night by Danielle Vega

I really liked Vega’s other book/series “The Merciless” so of course I’m curious about this other book of hers. I haven’t exactly heard too many great things about it but for $5 I figured I’d take my chances.

Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella

I’m kind of “meh” about this book because on one hand I hear it’s FANTASTIC and on the other hand I hear it pokes just a little too much fun at social anxiety to the point where it can be taken as offensive or insulting. Now I wouldn’t say my anxiety is directly linked to being social because I get it whenever, wherever but I DO suffer from anxiety so is this book offensive to me? I guess I’ll find out! I also got this for free so really I’m not losing anything here.

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel

Um…this book’s description is kind of a jumble of a lot of different things I’m not even sure I understand what it’s about. I know it’s a dystopian and it’s about a theater troupe. That’s about it. Yet another recommendation from Reagan at Peruse Project.

Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst

A YA fantasy about a princess who falls in love not with her prince but the prince’s sister instead. That right there makes me want to read it even though I’ve seen a few negative reviews I still want to see what this one’s like myself.

The Leaving by Tara Altebrando

This is a YA mystery/thriller about six kindergartners who go missing and 11 years later only five of them come back. I think this sounds super intriguing!

The Enchanted by Rene Denfeld

Yet another book recommended by Reagan at Peruse Project and it’s got a very unique premise. It’s told from the perspective of a death row inmate who watches as an investigator tries to uncover the truth about the prisoners and save them from execution. That’s the overall gist of it anyways.

The Gigantic Beard That Was Evil by Stephen Collins

Another graphic novel that comes pretty well recommended that I picked up on Book Outlet.

Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson

A pyschological mystery/thriller that has some stellar reviews and is also a movie starring Nicole Kidman that I have yet to watch.

The Emperor’s Blades by Brian Staveley

An epic fantasy book that comes with some pretty good reviews and I was interested enough to give it a try.

my page divider

Now onto the E-Books I picked up as well!

These were all part of a one day Kindle deal for 80% off of Goodreads Choice Award nominees.

The Bird and the SwordAll the Ugly and Wonderful ThingsMy Best Friend's ExorcismRebel of the Sands (Rebel of the Sands, #1)

The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon

I’m not actually 100% sure what this book is about other than it’s a fantasy novel and about a girl with magical abilities.

All The Ugly And Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood

I’ve honestly heard nothing but good things about this book and also I need to prepare myself to cry while reading it apparently. I’m not ready! This one is about a daughter of a meth dealer who tries to raise her younger brother and also develops a relationship with one of her father’s thugs.

My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

I was actually a little miffed when I saw this book as a part of the Goodreads Choice deals because I didn’t even know it existed! And it combines two of my favorite things: horror and ’80s things! So this is about two BFFs Abby and Gretchen and when they enter high school Abby notices Gretchen is acting differently and thus comes to the conclusion that she must be possessed.

Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

I STILL haven’t read this book and I love YA fantasy!

Black Friday Book Haul 2016!

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving (if you celebrate it) and if you all went out shopping I hope you got everything you went out for!

I picked up more than a few books for Black Friday and even a few other books this last week as well so I’ll be throwing those in with this book haul too. 15 of these books were from Book Outlet which is my absolute favorite online shop to buy books from because they’re so cheap, no I am not an associate for them I just really LOVE good deals on books! So if you guys want in on their Black Friday deals it’s 30% off the entire website until Tuesday November 29th!

my page divider

These are a few of my other great deals during the week  I got on my Kindle that are unrelated to Black Friday shopping but hey it’s a book haul! “Replica” is the only book in this bunch that I got during shopping Black Friday at Target.

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray

I got this on Amazon Kindle Books for only $1.99 and everyone seems to like Libba Bray’s books so here I go. Also this is still on sale if any of you are interested I’ll leave a link!

Amazon Link: “A Great and Terrible Beauty”

The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker

This was only $2.99 on Kindle and even with quite a few negative reviews I’d like to give this one a shot. Since my library doesn’t have a copy (but they do have the sequel for some reason) I figured getting it at this price was the best way to read it. It’s currently $3.50 if any of you are interested I’ll leave a link for this as well.

Amazon Link: “The Witch Hunter”

The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shepherd

This was on sale for $1.99 and it sounds like it may be interesting regardless of the few negative reviews I’ve read. Might as well try it especially at this price and once again I’ll leave a link!

Amazon Link: “The Madman’s Daughter”

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

This was a day only sale for $1.99 and I’ll tell you I have been waiting for a good deal on this book FOREVER! I have yet to see any negative reviews for it and I love YA Fantasy so I’m looking forward to reading it.

Replica by Lauren Oliver

I’ve been up and down about this book but seeing it for sale for $9.99 at Target on Black Friday I couldn’t let it go since this is a new release.

The rest of these books are ALL of the Book Outlet website as a part of their Black Friday sale.

After The End by Amy Plum

This is a book about the world after it’s been ravaged by nuclear radiation from World War III and a girl who comes back from a hunting trip to find her entire clan gone. She sets out to find them and discovers that the world in intact and there was never any war and everything she was told is a lie.

Doesn’t that just scream interesting? I think so.

Blackbringer by Laini Taylor

A middle grade book about warrior fairies and all I have to say is: Laini Taylor. That is all.

Blood Red Road by Moira Young

This one is dystopian and for some reason it really reminds me of Mad Max so combine that with the fact that it has fabulous reviews I had to buy it.

Half the World by Joe Abercrombie

Because I need to finish this series.

Half A War by Joe Abercrombie

Again…I need to finish this series.

Charm & Strange by Stephanie Kuehn

I actually have one of Stephanie Kuehn’s other books “Delicate Monsters” which sounds amazing and so I don’t know what compelled me to buy another one when I haven’t read the other. It sounds unique and has good reviews so I couldn’t go wrong with how cheap it was as well, like $2.00 I think.

Half Bad by Sally Green

Witches and Bad Witches! There’s a lot of mixed reviews but I think the premise sounds worth reading. Plus I don’t have enough witchy books.

Jackaby by William Ritter

Recommended to me by Ariana @ The Quirky Book Nerd and I’ve been dragging my feet on borrowing it from the library so now that I have my own copy I won’t have an excuse.

Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott

I was curious about this book before but after reading Lauren @ Wonderless Review’s review of it I had to get it.

Origin by Jessica Khoury

So I absolutely loved Jessica Khoury’s other book “The Forbidden Wish” and if the writing in this one is half as good as it was in that one it will be worth it.

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

Dragons. That is all.

The Book of Blood and Shadow by Robin Wasserman

I’ve heard this being referred to as YA “Da Vinci Code” and that’s all I need to know. I love “puzzle” books if that makes sense.

The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes

Great reviews have convinced me this book is worth my time and money.

The Unquiet by Mikaela Everett

Parallel universes have always interested me so a book about people being trained to kill their alternate selves and take their places sounds SO GOOD.

Zombies Vs. Unicorns by Various Authors

Just look at the title and tell me you aren’t at least a little curious.

So did you guys get any good Black Friday book deals?

Have you read any of these books? What did you think?

Giant Book Haul! February – April 2016

giant book haul.jpg

I haven’t done a book haul post in forever and that’s why I have so many books for this one so I apologize for the long post in advance!

These are books I’ve purchased within the last 3 months and I will be including Kindle E-Books that aren’t shown in the the picture below.

After The Woods by Kim Savage

I know I’ve feature this book on here before but I did manage to finally get a copy! It has some mixed reviews but all of the reviewers I trust have given it a higher rating so I’m hoping it’s as good as expected. I really love psychological thrillers (really it’s the only contemporary I like to read) and it should be pretty dark and twisted. Fingers crossed!

Revenge and the Wild by Michelle Modesto

First of all the cover is crazy gorgeous so even if the book itself doesn’t live up to expectations it’s still a beauty on the bookshelf! This book is apparently a misch mash of many genres including: western, steampunk, fantasy, paranormal, etc. Seriously it’s got a lot going on and I’m excited to see how those will all blend together!

The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury

I have actually already read this and have yet to get my review up (sorry! I’m really awful at getting my reviews up lately), but I did give it a full 5 star rating so you know it’s a perfect read! The cover is gorgeous and so is the story.

Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke

Another book I have already read and haven’t reviewed yet, this one was a little disappointing mostly because I had no idea what was really going on with it. I enjoyed it but also it was a bit too odd for my tastes.

Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell

I’m currently reading this, I’m a BIG fan of the Peter Pan story so of course I had to get my hands on this retelling. So far it’s a decent book like the little twists on the original characters and story.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Why haven’t I read this yet, you may ask. The answers is: because I haven’t. This is a pretty hyped book and with the sequel coming out this fall I really need to make time to read this soon. Plus the paperback was released and I looooove paperbacks.

Kill The Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky

This was an impulse buy if you want me to buy your book make it pretty and hot pink and you’ll increase your chances tenfold. Yes I loved the cover but I also just loved the title, I mean “Kill the Boy Band”? That screams interesting. I think the story is literally what the title tells you, a pack of fangirls get their hands on a member of their favorite boy band. You can imagine. Also I love books about fangirls, since I am one….

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

No I haven’t read this yet…..yes I do know the movie is coming out…no I haven’t seen the trailer because I live in fear of spoilers. NO SPOILERS. More than likely I will wait to the last minute for this one in which case I mean right before the movie comes out so I can go see it.

Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas

This comes highly recommended by a few of my blogger friends as well as trusted reviewers. So I got a copy for $5 and here I am. This is a sort of thriller mixed in with your usual YA contemporary  and while I do want to read it it’s not really high up on my TBR right now.

The Creeping by Alexandra Sirowy

It’s supposed to be creepy and I do love creepy stories, I also got it for $4 so of course I had to get a copy even if it does sit around on my shelf for a while…….

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

Ok I’m going to be honest: I bought this because I want to know what the big deal is. I love challenging hype that way like, “Yeah what’s so great about you? Let’s see”. Also I got sick of everyone talking about “The Raven King” and possible spoilers. I figured I would just read all of them (if I like this one) and avoid spoilers.

The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski

Because I read the other two and loved them and now I must see how it all plays out…..

The Rose and The Dagger by Renee Ahdieh

Once again…because I read and loved the first one and I desperately need to know how it ends! Seriously though, Renee Ahdieh can write DAMN well.

Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor

I love Laini Taylor and after that cliffhanger in “Daughter of Smoke and Bone” I need answers!!

Of Beast and Beauty by Stacey Jay

I got it for $3 and it has some good reviews so it was worth buying to check out. I like retellings and while I think Beauty and the Beast is overdone I figured I’ve give this one a shot. Did I mention I got for $3? That’s its winning quality right there.

The Stars Never Rise by Rachel Vincent

Great reviews, great premise. How could I not buy this one? It’s dystopia and paranormal mixed together.

Dark Shimmer by Donna Jo Napoli

This is a book I got based purely off of the premise and the cover, it’s a retelling of the origin of the Evil Queen from Snow White and it’s also set in Venice. How does that NOT sound amazing?

A Book of Spirits and Thieves Morgan Rhodes

So I haven’t read “Falling Kingdoms” yet and it’s a little embarassing but I also saw fantastic reviews for this book and I was told you don’t have to read the Falling Kingdoms series first in order to read this one. So here I am with a copy of this!

Last But Not Least: Stalking Jack The Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

This is my very first physical ARC and I’m super pumped about it! The title is pretty self explanatory and I cannot wait to start this. The book isn’t set to be released until September 20th though.

my page divider

Now for the E-Books! Which aren’t picture but I will provide you with covers regardless.

The Uninvited by Cat Winters

I have loved Cat Winters’ writing ever since I read her other book “The Steep & Thorny Way” and even though this one is adult fiction rather than YA I couldn’t resist getting a copy on my Kindle since it’s only $0.99. (I think it’s still at this price by the way)

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder

Tons of great reviews for this book and pretty much everyone has read it but me so here I am with a copy, plus I love YA Fantasy.

Our Lady of the Ice by Cassandra Rose Clarke

This isn’t YA but it sounded super interesting and even though it has some mixed reviews I figured I’d give it a shot.

Starflight by Melissa Landers

This is the only ebook I have on this list that I actually paid full price for! It has stellar (get it? Stellar?) reviews and I had to buy it, especially since I’m looking for more YA science fiction books.

Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin

This was on sale for $1.99 for a day a while ago and I was screaming with excitement because EVERYONE loves this book and its super underrated so I HAD to buy it.

Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen

YA Fantasy? Check. On sale for a cheap price at the time? Check. Everyone seems to love it? Check.

Front Lines by Michael Grant

I loved Grant’s Gone series and this book is about an alternate WWII setting where women could enlist to fight. How does that not sound awesome?

Shallow Graves by Kali Wallace

This had mixed reviews but it sounded interesting enough and for $1.99 I’m not really going to be too judgemental.

Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers

Not the greatest reviews around and this may not be my cup of tea but the idea behind this book, mafia-style families of assassins, sounded too good to pass up for $1.99.

my page divider

Sorry for the long post! I’m going to try and do my book hauls a little quicker than this so my posts won’t be so long next time.

Are there any books on this list that you’ve read?

Any books here that you want to read or get your hands on?

Have you had any great hauls lately?

Let me know in the comments! I love hearing from you guys!

Christmas Book Haul Part 2

book haul

So the books I ordered FINALLY arrived! They’re a part of my Christmas book haul since I ordered them on Christmas with money I was given for Christmas.

Book Outlet is pretty awesome guys, and I promise you they aren’t giving me anything to say that! You can get some awesome books for $5 and under, so couldn’t stop putting books into my cart.

I already did some descriptions of these books in my other Christmas Book Haul post which you can find here. Since I already did that I’ll mostly just be showing off the pictures of these awesome books.

So I’m super excited to read all of these, although I’m starting to think one of these days my TBR pile of books will fall and crush me…..

Aren’t these covers gorgeous though? I love when hardcover books have “two” covers!

my page divider

I also finished off said Christmas money by buying FOUR more books, I really need to be stopped. I just really love buying books though!

I got 3 new releases that came out this last Tuesday AND one that was recommended to me.

  • “Truthwitch” by Susan Dennard
  • “Passenger” by Alexandra Bracken
  • “The Impostor Queen” by Sarah Fine
  • “Nimona” by Noelle Stevenson

All three of the new releases I bought because they sound AMAZING and there’s a ridiculous amount of hype around “Truthwitch” and “Passenger” so I’m expecting a lot.

“The Impostor Queen” has a lot of good reviews as well and it really piqued my interset, I do love fantasy books!

Last but not least I bought a copy of “Nimona” because not only does everyone seem to LOVE it but it was also recommended to me by Ariana at The Quirky Book Nerd. (Sorry I keep tagging you in stuff but I want you to get credit for these recs!) Since she loved it I’m sure I will too just because she recs great books and we seem to have a mostly similar taste!

Unfortunately none of these babies have come in yet, I’m expecting “Nimona” today and the others tomorrow. Remember that January TBR post I made? Yeah I might not be sticking to that quite so much anymore….shame on me!

Of course I’ll finish some I planned on reading this month but the lure of these four new books might be enough to tempt into reading them first….

Have you guys read any of these books? Did you pre-order any of those new releases as well? Let me know in the comments, I love to hear from you!
