The Bohemian Rhapsody Book Tag

Top Ten Tuesday (2)

I was tagged by the always wonderful Michelle over at Book Adventures where she hosts a weekly feature called Book Tag Thursdays (which this tag was a part of) so be sure to head on over and check that out. Book Tag Thursdays is tons of fun so I hope you decide to participate! This tag was originally created by Emma at The Bookish Underdog.

Also I’m just going to say who doesn’t love this song? I mean just hearing the words “Bohemian Rhapsody” instantly gets it stuck in my head and I love it.

I’ll link up each book I choose with my reviews if I have them as well! Also there will be excessive use of gifs!

Mama,  Just Killed A Man: A fictional character’s death that really upset you.

****Spoilers for The Knife of Never Letting Go!!!!!****

I’m following suit with Michelle and saying Manchee from “The Knife of Never Letting Go” because honestly I felt like a shallow husk of my former self after reading through that. I mean he’s a sweet, loyal, talking dog! Who does that?! Patrick Ness apparently.

Carry On, Carry On: Pick a book that was hard to keep reading, but was worth it in the end.

I don’t really have many of these and I didn’t want to pick the same book as Michelle again (because “Gone Girl” is the perfect answer) so I’m going with “The Winner’s Curse”.  This wasn’t anything excruciating to read through but the beginning was pretty slow and uneventful, however pushing through to the end was very worth it. All of the action and politics picked right up and makes you scramble for the sequel!

Sends Shivers Down My Spine: Pick a book with a beautiful cover/spine.

“Vengeance Road” even though this book wasn’t my favorite I still think the cover is absolutely gorgeous, so much detail!

Goodbye Everybody, I’ve Got To Go: A book that you couldn’t finish.

“Once Upon A Dream”, a twisted retelling of Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. Sounds awesome right? Wrong. It is not awesome. The writing and characters and story were all bland, bland, bland. I couldn’t even finish half of the book let alone the whole thing.

Thunderbolt and Lightning, Very, Very Frightening: Which book did you find very, very frightening.

“The Girl From The Well” because I’m a big baby, some people didn’t find this book scary at all but I was terrified. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I watched “The Grudge” when I was in the 4th grade and I was so scared I couldn’t sleep alone for a week. So if you want to scare me…..Asian girls with long dark hair in their faces.

Don’t get me wrong though this was the FUN kind of scared, if that makes sense.

Bismillah, No! We Will Not Let You Go: Which book/series do you wish there had been more of.

Percy Jackson & The Olympians (but really who wouldn’t say Harry Potter for this? I figured everyone would say that though). I zipped right through this entire series and I KNOW Rick Riordan has other series based in the same setting but I loved Percy okay?

Mamma Mia, Mamma Mia: Which book/series should be made into a musical?

Okay, okay picture this “A Song of Ice and Fire: The Musical”. Can you imagine the Red Wedding with song and dance? I can and it’s glorious. I apologize for not really taking this question seriously….

The Head Banging Bit: Which book made you face-palm?

“Blackhearts” because I wanted actual pirates and not this whole insta-love-fest that I actually got….. with zero pirates.

And to this book I say:

Oh Baby, Can’t Do This To Me, Baby: Pick a moment from a book where you felt the author was being mean to you.

“Nimona” because it ended and there wasn’t more.

Nothing Really Matters To Me: Which characters did you not care about?

Pretty much everyone from “City of Bones” I was not a fan of this book at all and I could have cared less about any of the characters.

I’m not going to tag anybody this time around but PLEASE feel free to do this tag if you want to! You’re tagged! Spread the “Bohemian Rhapsody” love!!

Book Tag Thursday: My Life in Books

book tag thursday

It’s once again time for Book Tag Thursday, which is hosted by the wonderful Michelle over at Book Adventures!

This week we’re doing the “My Life in Books” tag, so let’s get started shall we?

1.) Find a Book for Each of Your Initials

Well my initials are HCS and I’ll just use books I’ve actually read. “Half a King” and “Snow Like Ashes” are both YA fantasy novels and “Coraline” is more of a Middle Grade Fantasy. I recently finished “Coraline” and I’ll be posting a review soon I promise!

Half a King (Shattered Sea, #1)

CoralineSnow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes, #1)

2.) Count Your Age Along Your Bookshelf – Which Book Is It?

Dark Places

Since I’m not actually home right now while I’m doing this tag I went onto Goodreads and counted along my digital bookshelf. Close enough right?

I got “Dark Places” by Gillian Flynn, which is one of my favorite authors! This is a very dark and gritty book, you can check out my review for it for more details.

3.) Pick a Book That’s Set in Your City/State/Country

Sharp ObjectsDo they even HAVE any books set in North Dakota? I don’t think so because nobody lives here I’m telling you! So I’m sorry but I’m going to have to go with ANOTHER Gillian Flynn novel, “Sharp Objects”. I’m picking this because it’s set in Missouri and since Missouri and North Dakota are both in the Midwest it’s as close to something in my state as I’ll get.

4.) Pick a Book That Represents a Destination You Would Love to Travel To

A Darker Shade of Magic (A Darker Shade of Magic, #1)

Yes this is a fantasy book about parallel Londons but it does have a London based on OUR London. Therefore I’m going to use this book to answer. I would LOVE to go to London, England I have distant relatives who live there too. I’m sure realistically this would be a place I could end up going to someday!

5.) Pick a Book That’s Your Favorite Color

The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1)

Now black is actually my favorite color, it’s a color I love on a lot of things especially my clothes. Most people don’t consider it a color though so really my favorite color is green. I love green, it matches my eyes. (haha) Plus “Percy Jackson and The Olympians” is one of my absolute favorite series.

6.) Pick a Book You Have the Fondest Memories Of

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4)

I would normally just say ALL of the Harry Potter books, but “The Goblet of Fire” is actually one of my favorites in the series. I also read this when I was 11 so I remember being so afraid of Voldemort in this installment I had nightmares for a week. Not that it’s a fond memory really but it did make an impression.

7.) Which Book Did You Have the Most Difficulty Reading?

A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5)I didn’t actually have any difficulty reading this, what I did have trouble with was actually getting my butt in gear and finishing it. Since these are such LONG books it takes me while. So I’m counting that as having difficulty reading it.

8.) Which Book in Your TBR Pile Will Give You the Biggest Sense of Accomplishment When You Finish It?

Outlander (Outlander, #1)I actually made it into “Outlander” about 100 pages. I just have other books I’d like to read right now which is why I put this one down for a while. The 100 pages I did read though were VERY good and I definitely plan on going back to it. This book is BIG and usually I don’t go for any sort of romance book so when I finally finish it I will feel very accomplished.

So as usual I’m lazy and don’t have anybody to tag so if you want to do this tag go for it and leave me a link so I can check it out!

Book Tag Thursday: Ultimate Harry Potter Book Tag

This is a new book meme I discovered today called “Book Tag Thursday” created by Book Adventures!

Who doesn’t love doing book tags? I know I LOVE doing book tags, mostly because I love to ramble about bookish things I adore.

If you read this you can consider yourself tagged to do it as well!

This week is “The Ultimate Harry Potter Book Tag”, I’m sorry I don’t know who actually created this tag so if you did or you know who did please comment so I can credit you/them!

The Ultimate Harry Potter Book Tag

1.) Favorite Book

I know, I know it was the most heart breaking book of them all, but you know what? It was still my favorite because it really brought everyone and everything together one last time. I don’t know about you guys but I really love a good ending especially when they come full circle and everything is tied together with no loose ends.

2.) Least Favorite Book

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5)

I just remember being really confused and half bored during this one, I did read it in the 5th grade but…..still. For me “Order” is just the least exciting book, period. Plus Sirius died in this one, and for that I cannot forgive this book.

3.) Favorite Movie

Now I know a TON of people disliked “The Goblet of Fire” but it, personally, was my favorite. I loved the book and I thought they did a decent job with the movie, plus I love all these Dumbledore jokes. I also thought this movie had the most action since we got to actually watch all the trials and the Yule Ball, it was awesome.

4.) Least Favorite Movie

I don’t think I really actually have a least favorite movie since I do love all of them, but I’m going with “The Prisoner of Azkaban” I just felt like they didn’t do as good of a job with this one. My one big problem being that they cut out the best Quidditch match I ever read, you know the one were they had to keep “censoring” Lee Jordan and everyone was playing dirty? It was hilarious and I missed it being cut but I also understand why. Just not my favorite movie.

5.) Favorite Quote

“We’ve all got both light and dark inside of us. What matters is the part we choose to act on, that’s who we really are.”

That quote from Sirius Black, my favorite because it’s very true and fits perfectly with the entire series as a whole. Plus I really love Sirius.

6.) Favorite Weasley

I opt for picking two favorite Weasleys because you can’t pick Fred without Geroge or vice versa. I have always loved the twins the most, they’re hilarious and I could always relate to them better.

7.) Favorite Female Character

Luna Lovegood hands down. She was so quirky and sweet I can’t help but love her the most.

8.) Favorite Villian

Because Voldemort isn’t the only crazy, homicidal, evil wizard/witch. I really just loved Bellatrix because of all of those things, she showed that men weren’t the only villains. I also really love Helena Bonham-Carter portraying her…..

9.) Favorite Male Character

Fred and George again?

Fine. Then Sirius Black!

I don’t really have a specific reason that he’s my favorite, he just is…..because he’s Sirius Black.

10.) Favorite Professor

Because Professor McGonagall is a badass, that is all.

11.) Would You Rather: A.) Wash Snape’s Hair or Spend a Day Listening to B.) Lockhart Rant About Himself?

Honestly I didn’t mind Lockhart that much and I love Kenneth Branagh. Besides I wouldn’t want to touch Snape’s greasy locks with a ten foot wand….nooo thank you.

12.) Would You Rather: A.) Duel an Elated Bellatrix or B.) An Angry Molly?

Bring on Bellatrix! I honestly think I would fair better in a duel against her crazy ass than against Molly protecting her babies! I would rather wash Snape’s hair in the previous question than go up against Molly.

13.) Would You Rather Travel To Hogwarts Via The Hogwarts Express or Flying Car?

Definitely the Hogwarts Express! I get to at least travel in comfort that way and why would I want to miss out on this?

Yeah that’s right, the trolley.

Besides remember what happened to Harry and Ron when THEY took a flying car to Hogwarts?

Flying cars? No thank you.

14.) Would You Rather: A.) Kiss Voldemort or B.) Give Umbridge A Bubble Bath?

I’m pretty sure drowning Umbridge in the bath tub is cheating so I’m going to go with kissing Voldemort, because he’s Ralph Fiennes so I’d just think about that.

15.) Would You Rather: A.) Ride a Hippogriff or B.) Ride a Broom?

Both have a good appeal to them but I’d definitely go for a Hippogriff. I also feel like that would be way easier to sit on than a broom……

16.) Is There Any Character You Felt Differently About In The Movies?

Fleur Delacour. In the books she was pretty badass, I mean she did get picked to be in the Triwizard Tournament right? And she rocked that shit in the books, but in the movie? No. She was pretty lame and came off as being kind of weak and annoying. Book Fleur is so much better.

17.) Is There Any Movie You Preferred To The Book?

Oh come on now, I’m a book lover of course I’m going to pick books over their movies! The books are ALWAYS better! Always. Get it? Sorry that was a bad joke.

18.) Richard Harris or Michael Gambon as Dumbledore?

I was very young when I went to watch the first two Harry Potter movies so I had Richard Harris imprinted into my mind as being Dumbledore at a young age. Michael Gambon was great too but  I will always view Richard Harris as my Dumbledore.

19.) Your Top Thing (Person or Event) That Wasn’t In The Movie That You Wanted There The Most?

The one thing I’m the most upset about was that the sphinx in the Triwizard maze wasn’t included. A sphinx was guarding one of the closest routes to the Triwizard cup and Harry happened to cross her path and was made to answer a riddle. I would have LOVED to see that in “The Goblet of Fire”.

20.) If You Could Remake Any of the Movies Which Would It Be?

I wouldn’t remake any of them, I think they did the greatest job they could do with the movies. Besides I’m lazy and re-making an entire movie would be exhausting.

21.) Which House Was Your First Gut Feeling You’d Be a Part Of?

I always knew I would be a Ravenclaw, for sure, all the way. Ravenclaw.

22.) What House Were You Actually Sorted Into On Pottermore?

Yep. Called it.

23.) Which Class Would Be Your Favorite?

Care Of Magical Creatures! Because the textbooks are cool, Hagrid is your teacher, and there’s magical creatures (obviously).

24.) Which Spell Do You Think Would Be The Most Useful To Learn?

Because then I’d never have to get back up for the remote again. Ever.

25.) Which Character Do You Think You’d Instantly Become Friends With?

We would definitely hit off, plus we’re both Ravenclaws.

26.) If You Could Own One of the Three Hallows, Which Would It Be?

The Elder Wand. Because ultimate power!!!!

27.) Is There Any Aspects of the Books you’d want to change?

Besides changing the deaths of all of my favorite characters? No I wouldn’t change a thing.

28.) Favorite Marauder?

You can probably already guess if you’ve read all the other answers in this tag.

Sirius Black.

29.) If You Could Bring One Character Back To Life, Who would It Be?

Can’t I pick all of them minus any villains?!! No? Fine, then I pick Fred Weasley because my heart aches the most for George.

30.) Hallows or Horcruxes?

harry potter pictures of the deathly hallows symbol - Google Search

Hallows, because Horcruxes get you killed….eventually….by people who have the Hallows.

Thanks for reading the long post, guys! Like I mentioned earlier if you read this consider yourself tagged!
