I saw Regan @ Peruse Project do this tag a little bit ago and thought it sounded like a great, fun spring tag to do! I did get the questions off of Amanda @ Literary Weaponry’s blog, so be sure to head over and check out her answers as well!
I was tagged by my blogging buddy Destiny @ Howling Libraries, please go check out her awesome blog guys she posts super consistently and is the sweetest person ever!
I saw this tag and knew I had to do it, “Why?” you might ask. Well because I am a cheese addict and you might laugh at that but I’m serious. Dead serious. I’ve had a problem with eating too much cheese since I was a toddler, and will I stop? Never! So I’m excited to do this because I love books AND cheese.
So I couldn’t seem to find any romance related book tags for Valentine’s Day besides the “Valentine’s Day Book Tag” (which I’ve done already), but I found this on Hardback Hoarder’s channel! The original creator is Novel Noise.
***** SPOILER ALERT! The following answers contain romantic relationship spoilers for the following books: The Winner’s Curse, The Diabolic, And I Darken, The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, My Lady Jane, and the Harry Potter series!******
1.) Three Book Boyfriends/Girlfriends
Don’t judge me! Apparently I like older men and short, odd ones!
2.) Three OTPs
I will go down with these ships!
3.) Favorite First Kiss
Probably Kestrel and Arin in “The Winner’s Curse”, just because it’s a forbidden romance and I had to wait the entire book for it to happen!
4.) What couple had the greatest sexual tension?
Lada and Mehmed in “And I Darken” for sure! This one about drove me nuts because they both loved each other but kept it secret thinking their love was unrequited! So when they finally got together it was a giant sigh of relief from me.
On Valentine’s Day, which couple would…..
5.)….Go to a fancy restaurant?
Maybe Kestrel and Arin from “The Winner’s Curse” because they’re more mild than some of the other couples I adore.
6.)…. Have a quiet picnic/walk on the beach?
Jane and Gifford from “My Lady Jane”, they’re adorable.
7.) …. Stay at home and watch Netflix?
Nemesis and Tyrus from “The Diabolic” because they never get enough alone time!
8.)…. Go dancing?
Monte and Percy from “The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue” because they love to party, well mostly Monte.
9.) What couple do you want to get together?
Well everyone in the books I read end up together for the most part but one of the couples I’d like to stay together would be Lada and Mehmed from “And I Darken”.
10.) What couple do you HATE that everyone else LOVES?
Ginny x Harry, because at least Hermione ending up with Ron made more sense! It’s like JK was thinking “Hm, who should end up with Harry?” *tosses dart* “Oh, Ginny!”. That’s how I feel, I think Ginny just came out of nowhere to be Harry’s love interest, yes, he already knew her but not in a romantic way! I will forever ship Harry x Hermione.
If you’d like to do this tag, give it a go! Just be sure to tag me and the original creator!
And Happy Valentine’s Day!
It’s time for another Christmas tag! I found the questions for this over on Stephanie’s blog at Adventures of a Bibliophile, so be sure to head over and check out her answers as well!
This one is more in a grey area than anything since he’s not just straight up a villain but I loved Victor Vale from “Vicious”! He just had those moments that made me love him, especially with how he treated Sydney and Mitch.
Well of course there are many but I would LOVE the 10th anniversary edition of “The Name of the Wind” by Patrick Rothfuss since it’s just so gorgeous! I NEED IT!
I think Starr Carter from “The Hate U Give” fits this bill perfectly, a powerful character to match a powerful novel.
I’m agreeing with Stephanie on the first one, Umbridge is definitely at the top of the naughty list eternally. As far as the nicest character I’m just going with Taylor from “Queens of Geek” because she is honestly such a pure person and I loved her.
Once again going with “Queens of Geek” which is very romance based and I loved every minute of it.
I absolutely loved the Scotland setting in this book!
I don’t read Christmas-y books…..at all…..because Christmas really isn’t my favorite holiday especially when it comes to books and movies and TV. I suppose if I could pick a non Christmas themed book though I’d go with “The Night Circus”.
Hands down, Fred and George Weasley.
Forever “Blackhearts” because I am never going to forgive that synopsis. Don’t promise me pirates and a Blackbeard origin story and then give me a glorified hist-fic romance instead!
“The Hate U Give”! I could sit and chant this one all day. Read it!
I tag anyone who wants to give this one a go!
This tag was created by Ariel Bissett.
I saw this tag and thought it looked like a TON of fun because you know….I love books and I’d also love to be the ruler of all books. So let’s just get right into the tag!
1.) What book would you make everyone read?
There are literally too many to pick from! I’m going to go with “Nevernight” by Jay Kristoff just because I love the writing style and the plot twists are INSANE, I would love to fangirl with all of my new subjects about it.
2.) What would you abolish in book construction?
Sorry but I’d have to get rid of mass market paperbacks! They’re just too small, the font is too small, and it’s hard as hell to open and bend them in order to read them. I don’t like cracking my book spines.
3.) What author would you commission to write you any book?
Definitely Jay Kristoff, I love his writing style and his books are always 100% entertaining! I would be PUMPED if I had a slew of new Kristoff books in my hands!
4.) What book would you demote to the library basement to make room for new books?
There are also quite a few of these for me as well but I’ll just go with one I happened to read this year. “The Roanoke Girls” would definitely be going down to the basement for me, I just thought it was a mess.
5.) What cover artist would you commission to make a mural?
This is a tough question but I’m going with Sana Takeda who is the artist for the Monstress series of graphic novels! Is that cheating? Her artwork is simply gorgeous.
6.) What characters face would you put on a coin?
Let’s just go with Harry Potter and be done with this question, those books were very important to me growing up (and still now) so I’d definitely put him on a coin.
7.) What book would you award the “Ruler of Books” 2017 Prize to?
I’ve read plenty of amazing books this year but I’m going to have to go with “Red Rising” on this one! Everything about that book was awesome from the writing to the characters to the plot, I could gush forever.
I tag any of you who would like to do this tag!
I found this tag over on Hardback Hoarder’s channel so be sure to head over and check out her video of this tag as well! This is probably going to be my last Halloween themed book tag but maybe I’ll squeeze in another, you never know.
This tag was created by The Bookish Porcupine.
1.) Creepy house on the corner of the street: Book with a creepy cover
It’s definitely one of the creepier covers I have seen! Also my current read and so far it’s not disappointing!
2.) Lights out (party poopers): A book you want to read when you want to escape
Fantasy is always good to me for this and so I’ll pick a fantasy book on my TBR that I’m hoping will be completely immersive! I adore Laini’s writing style so I sure I’ll adore this book as well.
3.) The house that gives out the cheap candy: Guilty pleasure book
Definitely “Paper Princess”. While I do mention that I loved it a bit it’s still a bit of a guilty pleasure for me because I NEVER like books like that but for some reason that one was just so addictive!
4.) The house with the best decorations on the block: Best haunting/Halloween themed cover
It’s a perfect combination of witches and Halloween colors so I think it fits very well!
5.) The house that gives out the best candy: #1 Halloween recommendation
Slasher Girls & Monster Boys is a great read for Halloween and since it’s an anthology of short horror stories there should be a couple stories in there for everyone, though I thought pretty much all of them were fantastic.
1.) Corn Maze or Haunted House?
Haunted House! (I think they’re scarier and just more fun)
2.) Classic or Unique Costume?
Definitely unique since that’s what I try and do for all of my costumes every year!
3.) Sexy or Scary Costume?
4.) Comedy or Horror Halloween Film?
5.) Chocolate or Sour Candy?
Both? I supposed Chocolate wins out though….
I’m going to tag a few of my newest followers!
Tag You’re It!
****Don’t feel obligated to do this tag though!****
I found this little tag over on Hardback Hoarder’s channel and thought it would be a super fun tag to do for October. There really aren’t a ton of horror type book tags out there that I haven’t done yet, which is sad! However, I have found a few so keep an eye out for them!
Clever Fox is the original creator of this tag!
1.) What goes bump in the night? Name a book that has legitimately scared you while reading it.
I know a lot of people didn’t find this book all that scary but it terrified me because I am deathly afraid of disjointed walking, any kind of crawling, and ghosts that even slightly resemble Samara from The Ring or the ghost from The Grudge. They terrify me. So of course all of those things are present in this book and while reading it I couldn’t even walk past a room that had its life off!
2.) Jack O’ Lanterns and Classic Costumes: A book you always reach for during Halloween time.
I don’t usually have time to do re-reads but I always attempt re-reading “Slasher Girls & Monster Boys” just because it’s made up of a bunch of fantastically scary short stories which makes it perfect for Halloween reading.
3.) Black Cats and Magic Mirrors: A book you love that is laced with superstition and/or magic.
How about both? “Labyrinth Lost” has a bit of superstition since the main character and her family are brujas (witches) who also happen to perform magic! It’s a wonderful story full of diversity as well.
4.) Witch’s Brew: Favorite witch character in any book/series.
(Besides everyone in the Harry Potter series….)
I really liked Tea from “The Bone Witch” I thought she was pretty likable and her power of necromancy is definitely neat.
5.) Ghouls and Ghosts: A book that still haunts you to this day (good or bad).
I’m still salty about so many things that happened in this book and I know it will continue to haunt me as well!
6.) Haunted Graveyard: You’re all alone in a haunted graveyard, you get ONE book to give you comfort, which is it?
I would want to bring a book that would keep me so distracted I wouldn’t notice all the creepies around me so “Night Film” is perfect for that. This book definitely held my attention in that way!
7.) The Undead: Favorite supernatural creatures to read about (i.e. vampires, zombies, werewolves, etc).
Do witches kind of count? If they do I definitely pick witches but if they don’t I like werewolves the best but I don’t come across too many books that include them.
8.) In the dead of night: Pick a book with a black cover.
The Night Circus! Fabulous book, gorgeous cover that also happens to be black.
Tag! You’re It!
Feel free to do this tag even if I didn’t tag you below!
Hello fellow book lovers!
I figured it was about time for another book tag and what better, random book tag to do than one about Leonardo DiCaprio?! Because we all love Leo, right? I know I do!
This tag was created by gingerreadslainey; video.
1.) Growing Pains – A book you read before it was popular (or hyped-up)
This book was one that I read way back before I started blogging and it was also before the entire trilogy was out too. So I mean “technically” I read it before it was super popular, especially since I didn’t really know if it was popular or not anyways…..still counts! I didn’t love it as much as everyone else anyways though!
2.) Tobey Maguire – Your favorite book best friends
I’ve got a few but the ones freshest in my mind would be Jamie, Taylor, and Charlie in “Queens of Geek”. They were all so geeky and adorable and they treated each other all so well too, positive friendships for the win!
3.) Kate Winslet – Your OTP
Of course I have many, many, many OTPs but the most recent one that I adore to bits and pieces would have to be Monty and Percy from “A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue”. They were both so clueless to the other’s feelings when they were clearly in love with each other, I loved that they finally got together!
4.) Titanic – A book that made you cry or emotionally distressed
I usually don’t cry while reading books, they have to be pretty darn sad to get me to shed actual tears. I haven’t cried while reading a book in years until I read “Red Rising” in which the first few chapters had me bawling, I had to put the book down and have a good cry about it.
5.) Martin Scorsese – An author you will always buy their books no matter what
I have a few other authors I’d auto-buy but V.E. Schwab is the Queen! Her books are always so unique, well-written, and full of action!
6.) Victoria’s Secret Models – A genre you will always go back to
Fantasy is my most loved genre so of course I will always go back to it, there’s nothing like getting immersed and lost in a creative, unique, and new world!
7.) Happy Meme Leo – A character that makes you smile
Mark Watney from “The Martian” is honestly one of the funniest characters I’ve come across in a book. Seriously, I laughed my way through a lot of that book…..you know when my brain wasn’t overloading from all of the science and math bits!
8.) Every Leo Character – Your favorite complex characters
The best, most complex, and morally ambiguous characters can be found in “Vicious”! Seriously some of the best characters I’ve ever come across in a book, hands down!
9.) Leonardo NoOSCARo (but now he does!) – A book that doesn’t get the recognition it deserves!
I know I sound like a broken record but this is one of the most underrated books I’ve read and it’s just plain fantastic! A great magical realm that also combines four retellings: Sleeping Beauty, Hua Mulan, Cinderella, and Jane Austen’s Emma!
If you love Leo and would like to give this tag I try then go right ahead and enjoy!
I was tagged A SUPER long time ago to do this by the wonderful Jessica @ The Awkward Book Blogger! Be sure to head over and not only check out her answers for this as well but to just check out her amazing blog! Thanks for tagging me Jessica (it only took me a year haha!)
What book is on your nightstand right now?
I’m currently reading my ARC of this book which is about an alien invasion told from the POV of both one of the invading aliens as well as a surviving teenage girl. So far it’s interesting but not really anything special.
What was the last truly great book you read?
It’s a tie since I finished both of these recently and honestly can’t choose between them! “Gentleman’s Guide” was the the funnest book I’ve read in a while full of adventure, good humor, fantastic writing, and the most adorable of romances (which is also M/M!). While “Queens of Geek” was also a ton of fun I mostly really enjoyed how diverse and relatable the characters all were, the geek culture, and how positively many issues were handled!
If you could meet one author (living or dead), who would it be? What would you ask?
I’m sure almost everyone says this but I’ll have to go with J.K. Rowling because while I could hold a good conversation with many of my favorite authors I just feel I’d have so much more to ask her! I’d love to know how she came up with so many different aspects of the Harry Potter universe but mostly I’d have to ask why she chose Harry to end up with Ginny. My inquiring, nosy, Harry x Hermione loving mind would like to know!
What books might we be surprised to see on your shelf?
The Vampire Academy series probably! I’m not really one for any urban fantasy books anymore and I really don’t like a lot of trope-filled YA romances so I think it’s at least slightly surprising to see I have the entire Vampire Academy series. I really loved this series though!
How do you organize your personal library?
I kind of….don’t really. I of course keep series together and books with the same authors together but other than that it’s pretty much a free for all. I keep the books I’m going to read soon along with books I read and loved on the top to middle shelves and the books I’m not going to read for a while or didn’t enjoy as much on the bottom shelves.
What book have you always meant to read but haven’t gotten around to yet?
I’m actually really ashamed of myself for this because while I did read “The Hobbit” and absolutely worship all of the movies I just haven’t read this one yet. The writing is a little harder to click with but I keep telling myself I’m going to read it eventually!
Disappointing, overrated, just not good: what book did you feel you were supposed to like but didn’t?
I usually like YA mystery/thrillers and I thought I’d love this one especially since it drew some inspiration from The Breakfast Club (which I love) but it was not for me at all. I thought it was pretty cliched and didn’t spend enough time building up suspense or thrills either.
What kind of stories are you drawn to?
Fantasy stories for sure, there’s just something about being transported to a completely new and imaginative world! I find that for the most part Fantasy is a genre that is more complex and immersive and the biggest part of why I read is to be immersed in new worlds and stories.
If you could require the president to read one book, what would it be?
Harry Potter is just kind of my for fun answer because…it’s Harry Potter but honestly out of the books I have read I feel “The Hate U Give” is a very powerful, moving, and important read and I feel someone in such a position of power could benefit from reading it.
What do you plan to read next?
I have an ARC of this book as well which is being released at the end of the month so I’m planning on reading it next!
If you’d like to give this tag a try then go right ahead, I tag you!
