I really loved “Midwinterblood” it was the perfect kind of weird and I want to read more of Sedgwick’s books.

Book #141

Revolver by Marcus Sedgwick

Once again, Marcus Sedgwick. I heard good things about this one and it’s short.

The Judgement: Keep

Book #142

The Stars Never Rise by Rachel Vincent

Date Added: August 4th, 2015

Image result for the stars never rise

This one is a dystopian with soul-sucking demons, it sounds awesome and I got a copy really cheap from Book Outlet so I’m excited to read it. Eventually.

The Judgement: Keep

Book #143

The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma

Date Added: August 4th, 2015

Related image

A magical realism/paranormal story that I feel will be odd but in a good kind of way, I hear Nova Ren Suma’s writing is very unique!

The Judgement: Keep

Book #144

Menagerie by Rachel Vincent

Date Added: August 5th, 2015

Because who doesn’t love a good circus book? Plus I have heard a lot of good things.

The Judgement: Keep

Book #145

Under A Painted Sky by Stacey Lee

Date Added: August 6th, 2015

A YA western featuring a Chinese main character, of course I want to read it! Plus I’ve heard tons of good things about it.

The Judgement: Keep

Book #146

The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson

Date Added: August 7th, 2015

Image result for the way of kings

I basically HAVE to keep any and all Brandon Sanderson books on my TBR, there is no negotiating with myself on this.

The Judgement: Keep

Book #147

Archivist Wasp by Nicole Kornher-Stace

Date Added: August 12th, 2015

Image result for archivist wasp book cover

This seems like a wonderfully strange book, about a girl who hunts ghosts and ventures to the underworld to hunt one and to learn more about the pre-apocalyptic world. It really does sound fantastic!

The Judgement: Keep

Book #148

Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkins

Date Added: August 13th, 2015

Image result for rebel belle book cover

Honestly I didn’t think this would be a book I’d ever want to read but it sounds like so much fun with all of the gowns and tiaras but also the badassery. Hopefully it’s as light-hearted and fun as it sounds!

The Judgement: Keep

Book #149

The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons

Date Added: August 13th, 2015

Image result for the glass arrow book cover

This sounds like it would be an okay read especially since it’s compared to “The Handmaid’s Tale” but with the mixed reviews and my lost interest I think I’m going to have to get rid of it.

Top Ten Tuesday: Recently Added To The TBR

Top Ten Tuesday(9)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

It’s weird because I was JUST thinking about doing a TBR post……hm. These are also all going to be RELEASED books, although I could easily do an entire list of not yet released books. This way if you see something you might be interested in you can go out and read it right now if you want! I’ll also link each title to its Goodreads page so you can read the descriptions.

my page divider

10.) The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes

This is a story about a girl who lived in a cult for twelve years, so I don’t know about you but I think cults are creepy and also strangely interesting in a morbid sort of way. So I thought it would be an interesting enough to add to my TBR.

9.) We’ll Never Be Apart by Emiko Jean

I really love psychological thrillers, especially if they’re done right. A lot of people have seemed to like this one and since seeing it at my library I had to add it to my TBR.

8.) Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke

I just really want to read one of Tucholke’s books, especially before “Wink Poppy Midnight” comes out. That’s why I added this book to the TBR….seriously that’s it.

7.) Jackaby by William Ritter

Seems like everyone loves this book AND it was recommended to me by Ariana over at The Quirky Book Nerd. So since I’ve LOVED everything else she’s recommended to me I know I’ll probably love this one as well.

6.) Vampire Academy: The Graphic Novel by Richelle Mead

I loved Mead’s Vampire Academy series and I’ve had a recent interest in graphic novels so of course I had to add this one to the TBR. The only downside is that the art looks pretty horrid, hopefully I can look past that though.

5.) The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

So pretty much EVERYONE has read and loved this book so of course I had to check it out, especially since it’s a fantasy. I adore fantasy books, although this book doesn’t seem like something I’d normally like. Definitely willing to give it a shot though.

4.) The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough

I don’t normally go for any romance-heavy books, but I couldn’t resist adding this one. Love and Death pick their players and play a game to see who wins, it very much reminds me of the movie The Book of Life, so if you’ve seen that you understand! That’s pretty much why I want to at least check this book out.

3.) Black Iris by Leah Raeder

It feels like literally everyone has read and loved everything Leah Raeder writes. Now like I said I don’t like romance-heavy books, this seems to be a very twisted one but a romance-ish book nonetheless. “Black Iris” seems like my best bet to start with Raeder’s books so hopefully I’ll see what all the fuss is about.

2.) This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers

Lots of people loved this one and it has taken some time for me to consider this title. It’s a book with zombies in it but it’s not about zombies but rather more about humans and their survival instincts. Sounds pretty unique and I can’t resist anything with zombies in it….

1.) Rat Queens Vol. 1 by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Illustrated by Roc Upchurch

So it’s no secret, I think, that I’ve been trying to binge graphic novels since I read “Nimona” not too long ago. So I’m pretty pumped to try this one out, Lord of the Rings was used in the description so I’m most definitely in.

Top Ten Tuesday: 2015 Releases I Forgot To Read…

Top Ten Tuesday(9)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish.

So this week’s theme is 2015 releases I meant to read and then ran out of time, and I think I’ve got more than plenty to choose from. It’s even worse when they’re sitting on my shelves!

my page divider

10.) Nightfall by Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinski

This is one of those books I just kind of feel “meh” about, I want to read it because it has a really interesting blurb and seems like it has potential for creepiness. Alas though, I never got around to reading it in 2015. My library has it so when I have time I CAN read it if I want.

9.) A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston

Another 1,001 Nights retelling and since I LOVED “The Wrath and The Dawn” I figured I’d give this one a shot as well but it wasn’t a top priority last year. It’s just something I forgot about…….

8.) Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

I’ve heard so many good things about this book and I got it on sale on my Kindle for $1.99. So I was thinking I did a good job and then…..never read. Shame on me I know! Good news is since I bought it, I will eventually read it.

7.) Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman

A fantasy mixed with historical fiction, it sounded awesome and had mixed reviews though. However, I bought it on my Kindle for $1.99 and for that price, why not give it a try? Once again though I didn’t read it last year……

6.) Daughters Unto Devils by Amy Lukavics

I love horror so it’s no surprise I have a burning need to read this book! It has a decent amount of good reviews from reviewers I trust so I needed to get my hands on it. And then…..I never bought it. It’s definitely still on the TBR but I just never got around to reading it.

5.) Dreamstrider by Lindsay Smith

Look at that gorgeous cover! And it’s basically supposed to be a lot like Inception. How does any of that not seem awesome, right? That’s what I thought and bought a copy right away when it came out aaaannnnndddd haven’t read it yet.

4.) Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Graudin

This is an alternate history retelling, those are always awesome right? Well I’m not exactly sure anyways I wanted to read this a lot and had it in my Amazon cart multiple times but just never committed. Now I think it’ll have to be time to get a copy and read this awesome sounding book!

3.) The Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan

I bought a copy right away, right away when it came out! And I still haven’t read it! It’s been almost 3 months! I loved Percy Jackson and couldn’t wait for Riordan to write about NORSE mythology. I’m kicking myself every day because I haven’t read it yet.

2.) An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I’m very late to the game on this one, it seemed pretty dang popular last year and I really wanted to read it. I loved the cover as well but my library has a copy so I’ll just bide my time and read it eventually……

illuminae

1.) Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

There’s no excuse for me not reading this! I have a copy, everyone’s read it, and it’s hyped up like nobody’s business! I’ll get around to it one of these days, from what I’ve read I think I’ll breeze throughout. Regardless of the fact that it’s 600 pages.

Monthly TBR: January

lifetime(5)

This is my first time doing a monthly TBR plan so we’ll see how it goes! Since it’s a new year I think it’s a good idea for me to actually start planning the books I’ll be reading. Easier said than done I’m afraid, since I’m more of a mood reader….

I’m going to try and set the bar a little higher with 6 books this month, hopefully that will give me the proper motivation to read and review more.

If I don’t get around to all of them…oh well.

New year, new blog posts, and new reading lists! Yay!

Let’s get started.

my page divider

Da Vinci's Tiger

“Da Vinci’s Tiger” by L.M. Elliott

I’m pretty excited for this book actually, I really love the Renaissance period and I haven’t had the chance to read any YA fiction set during that time. Also I have this weird thing about Da Vinci, it probably has something to do with my obsession with Assassin’s Creed II and “Da Vinci’s Demons” (TV show).

The point is I wanna read this book and since it’s only 304 pages long it should be a quick read.

Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)

“Six of Crows” by Leigh Bardugo

I’m really ashamed of myself for not having read this yet. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and it came out on my birthday and everything! And I still haven’t read it!

I’m actually currently reading it now and I’m done with about half of it. It’s getting pretty good, the action is really intense. I read half of it in one sitting and didn’t want to go to sleep, I wanted to stay up and finish!

Blackhearts

“Blackhearts” by Nicole Castroman

I really love pirates.

So of course I’m excited to read a YA book about pirates! I received an ARC of this book via Edelweiss, so since the book is going to be published February 9th I really need to get this ARC read this month.

5 to 1

“5 to 1” by Holly Bodger

I’m currently STILL anxiously awaiting this book’s arrival to my doorstep but I’m planning on reading it this month. It’s only 244 pages so once again a very quick read.

Plus I love the cover…..

The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1)

“The Bone Season” by Samantha Shannon

I can’t believe I haven’t read this one yet, lots of people either love it or hate it I feel. I like great world building and I think I can expect that from this book. Plus the hardcover is beautiful!

Hopefully it won’t take me that long to read it…..

Ice Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes, #2)

“Ice Like Fire” by Sara Raasch

I’ve had this book on hold for at least TWO MONTHS.

I’m finally next in line for it at the library though so I expect I’ll be reading it in January. I haven’t heard very good things about this sequel though so I’m not exactly excited to read it, but since I liked the first book I feel obligated to read this as well.

page divider

So that wraps up my January TBR post, hopefully I read MORE books than are on this list. If I read more I’ll be pretty proud of my self actually….good motivation for me.

What are you guys planning on reading this month? Any books on this list? Let me know in the comments!
