This is actually just The Cake Book Tag but I figured since today is my birthday it’d be the perfect tag to do so I just snuck birthday in with the cake!
Thank you to Lauren @ Comma Hangover for tagging me, be sure to head over and check out her answers as well!
CHOCOLATE CAKE
A dark book you absolutely love
“The Hollow Girl” was very dark and graphic but I loved it, the character overcame so much and was so strong. Lots of magic, revenge, and suspense!
VANILLA CAKE
A light read
This is a very light-hearted, adorable book and quick to finish plus it’s full of diversity! The romances and friendships are all very positive as well, and who doesn’t want to read a book full of geek culture?
RED VELVET
A book that gave you mixed emotions
I’m going to interpret this in a way of “feeling many different emotions” and not the sort of mixed emotions that means I both loved and hated it.
I honestly haven’t cried while reading a book in a long time but I full blown ugly cried when I read this book! I won’t tell you why but…it broke me! I also raged, laughed, and cried some more! Overall this book sent me on an emotional roller coaster ride. (I loved it though).
CHEESECAKE
A book you would recommend to anyone
So many! But….
I definitely recommend “Stormdancer” I ton though just because it compiled so many awesome elements into one book: mythology, world-building, steampunk, talking mythological creatures, badass protagonist, no central romance, and so on! Plus I think Jay Kristoff really has a beautiful way of writing, I adore it.
COFFEE CAKE
A book you started but never finished
I only bought this because a lot of my friends recommended it and were all in love with it. I read maybe 2 chapters? Wasn’t feeling it and set it aside and have yet to pick it back up again. I don’t know if I ever will either, I feel like paranormal romances aren’t my thing.
CARROT CAKE
A book with great writing
I just have to say Laini Taylor is also a fantastically, gorgeous writer but I have to say Jessica Khoury’s in “The Forbidden Wish” as well. Such lyrical, beautiful writing it had me swooning practically!
TIRAMISU
A book that left you wanting more
I NEED this book to have a sequel or spin off, I know it won’t happen but I still need it! I loved the way retellings were woven in with a separate plot line, I adored the characters, and the world building too!
CUPCAKES
A series with 4+ Book
Harry Potter? Can I use that? I don’t really read a lot of series since I’m terrible at finish them but great at starting them!
FRUIT CAKE
A book that wasn’t what you anticipated
I am not one for romance-y or contemporary books, they just aren’t my cup of tea. However, I was really surprised by how much I ended up loving this book the writing had an addictive quality to it and I could not stop reading! Is it the best book ever? No. But damn was it entertaining.
If you’d like to do this tag as well, please give it a go! Especially if you love cake….
