Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Liked But Don’t Remember Much About

Top Ten Tuesday(9)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

It has now been moved over to That Artsy Reader Girl.

This happens to me more than I’d care to admit, I can remember the absolute bare minimum about a lot of books and nothing else. Even some of my absolute favorite books! So this topic is pretty easy for me to discuss since I have quite a few books that fit the description.

These are in no particular order and I will link up reviews if I have them.

10.) Glitter by Aprilynne Pike

This one didn’t blow me away or anything but it was an interesting book, very unique! It’s a dystopian book where people quite literally “party like it’s 18th century France” and a girl trying to escape Versailles before she’s married to the king agrees to start selling a drug called “glitter”. Like I said it’s pretty creative and an overall fun read.

You can read my full review here.

9.) Labyrinth Lost by Zoraida Cordova

I loved this book, it was such a fun read filled with magic and diverse characters. But, I really don’t remember it that well! The sequel is finally being released this year though so perhaps I’ll need to do a re-read!

You can read my full review here.

8.) The Darkest Corners by Kara Thomas

I recommend this book all the time because it’s fantastic but in all honesty I don’t remember details about it anymore. This may have to do with the fact that it’s been a while since I read it, I read it SUPER fast, and it’s a psychological mystery/thriller and the twists were great….and very twisty so I have a hard time remembering 100% what all went down!

You can read my full review here.

7.) The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

This was surprisingly awesome, I never would have thought I’d love a YA Fantasy novel with a girl in a ballroom gown on the cover. I actually went through this one very fast and I also read the sequel so all I have left is the third book, however, I may need to do a re-read because I don’t really remember what the heck happened!

You can read my full review here.

6.) The Impostor Queen by Sarah Fine

This is a very underrated book with a strong female protagonist and a very unique magic system. I do really want to continue with the series but I read this book 2 years ago so I think I might need to do a re-read of this one as well before I go on.

You can read my mini review here.

5.) Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

By this I mean the entire series because I read them sooooo long ago that I could only tell you the beginning stuffs and end stuffs and maybe a few things in between like character deaths. I really should do a series re-read because I did really like it but I’m also kind of scared to because I feel like it wouldn’t live up to my memories of it. But you never know!

4.) Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

I read this way back in middle school (or maybe even late elementary school? I really don’t remember) so I don’t remember anything other then there were “uglies” and “pretties”, basically the synopsis. Once again a series I’d like to maybe re-read but might not be as great as I remember.

3.) Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld

I actually bought the first book ONLY because it was a bargain book at a bookstore and looked neat. I had no idea I was in for such a treat, this is a steampunk, alternate history book. It’s set during WWI and both factions comprise their armies of either steampunk machines or mutated creatures (I don’t know how else to describe it). It’s awesome, the whole series was awesome, but I don’t remember much about it obviously.

2.) Gone by Michael Grant

Another book/series I read back in high school that I enjoyed while reading but really don’t remember much about. I know there were aliens and super powers but other than that I know nothing! And they just released a continuation of the series and I’m curious about it……

1.) Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

I did like “Inkheart” but I loved the two sequels a TON more, still they were all great books. I honestly could gush all day about this series and I really want to re-read it one day here just to feel the nostalgia!

While Uglies and Gone aren’t on my list, I don’t remember much about them either. I wonder why that is. Happy reading.

I’ve seen The Winner’s Curse and The Uglies on several lists? I wonder if our memory fades quicker if books aren’t as well-written?

Could be! Or if the plot itself wasn’t very memorable, not saying they weren’t fun at the time but just didn’t leave a lasting impression. 🙂

I completely understand about Leviathan! I remember really enjoying it and thinking I must read the sequel and now it’s been years and I cannot remember anything about it apart from the setting!

*blushes* I have quite many books I don’t remember much or books that are in dire need of a re-read. The Harry Potter series, for one. Like I do remember the main plotline for it but not many of the minor details. Ouch.

Same! It seems like everyone has re-read Harry Potter a dozen times and I only read through them once! I definitely need to give it a re-read though and the same goes for a lot of other books but trust me you’re not alone, haha! 🙂

Oh, Uglies and Pretties (and specials i think the last one was) was pretty good! But yea, don’t ask me specifics, haha 😀 I remember them eating dried spag bol, and possibly going around on sort of hover boards…

Glad I’m not alone, haha! You might remember more than me though, you’re right on the hover boards and apart from that I just remember people went through surgeries to make themselves “pretty” which is literally the synopsis, haha! They were really great books though! 🙂

I feel you on Gone, Vampire Academy, and The Darkest Corners! I barely remember anything about Gone, which is probably why I still haven’t read the rest of the series. The Darkest Corners is a fave of mine, but I also don’t remember much. I really should re-read it! 😂 Vampire Academy is a series I ditched, which is probably why I don’t remember much, tbh.

I read The Darkest Corners maybe two years ago and still remember almost nothing, and it was a favorite of mine as well! While I liked both the Gone and VA series, I don’t think you missed out on much, haha, especially since I read them both to completion and hardly remember anything! 🙂
