April TBR (a.k.a Leftover March TBR That I Failed At)

Top Ten Tuesday (47)

So this is going to be one damn ambitious TBR but since I failed a bit with my other overly ambitious March TBR I’m going to need to crack down this month! I have a TON of ARCs to get through and a few library books as well, actually now that I look at these they are all ARCs except for the graphic novels! Yikes!

I will start with listing the “new” TBR books first and then list the ones I still need to read that were included last month! That way you don’t have to see any repeats right away.

From The Earth To The Shadows (Valkyrie #2) by Amanda Hocking

I mentioned this book in yesterday’s book haul post but this is book two of Hocking’s Valkyrie duology/series and I’m really looking forward to it. It is very fast paced and features tons of different mythologies!

Run, Hide, Fight Back by April Henry

A shooter breaks out in a shopping mall and several teens end up hiding in one of the stores and are left with the options to “run, hide, or fight back”. It’s a short little thriller but I’m excited to give it a read.

Furyborn by Claire Legrand

A YA fantasy with Sun Queens, Blood Queens, magic, assassins, and rebels. Yep sounds pretty exciting!

Royals by Rachel Hawkins

I’m a little nervous for this one now since I read a negative review for it but I enjoy contemporaries featuring royalty.

Onyx & Ivory by Mindee Arnett

There’s dragons and dragon hunting! Hopefully it isn’t a run of the mill/typical YA fantasy and brings something new to the table.

Fatal Throne by Various Authors

This is a an anthology about the wives of Henry VIII, and the stories are all told from different POVs. I think it’s sounds interesting and I’ve not heard much about it too so it’s very underrated.

The Oddling Prince by Nancy Springer

Secrets, curses, Fey and Scotland. Okay, this sounds so awesome and I’m very excited to read the ARC I got via Netgalley!

The Queen Underneath by Stacey Filak

I mentioned this in yesterday’s post but it’s a Sleeping Beauty retelling with a LGTBQ+ cast and it challenges traditional gender roles.

Saga Volume 8 by Brian K. Vaughan

I’m finally going to read this! After that cliffhanger in volume 7!

Descender Volumes 2-4 by Jeff Lemire

I was actually pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the first volume in this series, certain elements really reminded me of ‘Mass Effect’. Which is one of the most amazing video game series of all time, if you’ve played them please: fangirl with me in the comments section.

Sex Criminals 2-3 by Matt Fraction

I thought volume one was actually pretty hilarious and fun, so I have the next two volumes from the library to read!

I Hate Fairyland by Skottie Young

One of the fails of last month’s TBR, I need to read it before it goes back to the library!

Devils Unto Dust by Emma Berquist

My current read that carried over from March that’s a western with zombies! It’s actually SUPER good so far, very evenly paced and well written. Plus the “shakes” are terrifying.

Beyond A Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake

Another ARC that I need to hustle up and read here quickly! It’s got Norse and Celtic mythology, I’ve heard, so I’m hoping it’s amazing!

The Atrocities by Jeremy C. Shipp

A short Tor novella that’s a gothic horror that I also received an ARC of.

Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

YA vikings! I’m very excited to read my ARC of this one, I hope it’s as exciting as it sounds.

I loved Furyborn and gave it a perfect five stars but I’m seeing a lot of people didn’t like it. I think people are getting confused because it’s told out of order and I’ve noticed that some people don’t like the book if they have to think (I know that sounds bad-LOL) You do have to use some logic while reading. I hope you like it if you do decide to read it.

I read Furyborn and loved it but it’s a polarizing book. I also read Sky in the Deep and I am currently reading Devils Unto Dust. I hadn’t heard of Minde Arnett’s new book. I enjoyed book one of her first series so I might give that a go. I’m just now starting Saga as my coworker is making me read this and I’ve heard good things. Looks like you got a lot on your March plate-good luck.

Ahh I had an ARC for Sky in the Deep and it was really interesting. Can’t wait for you to read it and hear your thoughts, also have Furyborn which I need to pick up soon! x
