The Sims Book Tag

copy-of-top-ten-tuesday17

I was tagged to do this amazing book tag by my friend Michelle @ Book Adventures! Thank you Michelle and you guys be sure to head over and not only check out her answers for this but also her amazing blog! I mean it…..do it, do it now!

I’m actually really excited to do this tag finally because I freaking love The Sims!

This tag was originally created by Booktuber Hailey in Bookland.

The Original Sims – The best author debut.

Kingdom of Ash and Briars by Hannah West

This was an absolutely excellent debut and I cannot wait to read more by this author, she did such a wonderful job with her world building and weaving so many different fairy tale retellings into it! (highly recommend checking this out by the way!)

The Grim Reaper – Saddest character death.

*****WARNING: SPOILERS FOR HARRY POTTER BELOW!!!*****

(Even though I feel like everyone knows anyways….)

How about just all of the Harry Potter deaths, that about sums it up. These all DESTROYED ME!

*****END SPOILERS*****

Sims Getting Stuck – A character that just got in the way.

Image result for fate of flames

Maia from  “Fate of Flames” is one of the most worthless characters I’ve ever come across, she was the main character and I feel like she did nothing but get in the way and fuck everything up!

Simlish – A book with amazing writing.

Image result for daughter of smoke and boneImage result for lips touch three timesImage result for the forbidden wish

“Daughter of Smoke and Bone” & “Lips Touch: Three Times” by Laini Taylor, seriously has the most gorgeous writing ever! Also “The Forbidden Wish” by Jessica Khoury deserves an honorable mention as well!

Expansion Packs – A series where the books keep on getting better.

Image result for inkheart trilogy

I read this a long time ago when I was in middle school but I read “Inkheart” and it was good but nothing crazy amazing but when I read the sequel “Inkspell” it blew my mind! It was so much better! The finale “Inkdeath” is just as good as well. Definitely a series that got better as it went.

Sim Romance – The worst case of insta-love.

Image result for blackhearts book cover

Of course there are PLENTY of YA books that have insta-love but this book was one of the worst ones because of said insta-love but also because this book turned out to be more insta-lovey romance than anything that involved pirates. I was infuriated, I don’t think I’ve ever been more mad at a book….

Cheats – A book that was entirely unrealistic.

Image result for throne of glass book cover

I read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi so technically ALL the books I read are unrealistic….but I’ll go with “Throne of Glass” being unrealistic anyways since the main character is supposed to be the deadliest assassin in the kingdom and she spend the book 1.) not killing anyone 2.) talking about shoes and dresses 3.) being moony-eyed over TWO different boys and 4.) complaining.

So yeah I would say this was unrealistic…..

Needs Fulfillment – A character who made all the wrong decisions.

Image result for fate of flames

Maia from “Fate of Flames”. Again.

Error Code 12 – A series that started off great but went downhill from there.

Image result for the house of night series books marked through revealed

I actually haven’t really finished a ton of series, I’m good at starting them and never finish them but one that definitely got WORSE was the “House of Night” series by P.C. & Kirsten Cast. I read the first book and it was just okay but that series just kept going on and on and on and on needlessly. I don’ even know why I continued with it for as long as I did!

The Sims Vortex – A book/series that completely engrossed you.

Image result for gone book seriesImage result for jasper dent series

I’m going to go with both the “Gone” series by Michael Grant and the “Jasper Dent” series by Barry Lyga. Both are absolutely amazing and pretty dark,  and I was obsessed with both of them and could not stop reading until I finished both series!

Thanks for the tag. The only HP death I was upset about was Sirius. That one really hurt. And Dumbledore, at first.

While I was sad about all of the deaths I definitely agree that the one that truly upset me the most was Sirius! Dumbledore was more of a shock for me than anything super upsetting. 😁

Yea, it sure was the first time I read it, though my psychology teacher did spoil it for us back then.

Bookworm problems! I’m always torn between wanting to add more books and wanting to get my TBR under control, haha!
And no problem I’m happy to help you find new bloggers and also help them out with new Followers as well! I also like when people tag lots of other blogs because I like to click the links too! 😁

Great post, I agree, The Daughter of Bone and Smoke was written beautifully. It wasn’t my kind of thing but the writing was brilliant. 🙂

Thanks so much for the tag Heather, I haven’t played The Sims in ages but it used to be a game I was obsessed with when I was younger!
I really need to read Kingdom of Ash and Briars, it’s been on my to-read list since before it was released but for some reason I kind of forgot about it and never picked it up. I’ve heard great things though so I’d like to get around to it soon. Also I completely agree about the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, Laini Taylor has such an incredible writing style and I can’t wait for her latest release.
Great picks, and thanks again for the tag! 😀

I know, I used to play Sims soooo much! It’s such a fun game but also really pointless too if I think about it haha!
I’d love to hear what you think of Kingdom of Ash and Briars since I think it’s a book that deserves far more attention!
I will read anything and everything by Laini Taylor and I’m also super pumped for her new book!
      😁

Pointless but a fun way to waste an afternoon or two when you have nothing else to do on the weekend!
It’s on my to-read list, hopefully I’ll be able to get around to it soon. It sounds amazing so I’m not sure why I haven’t read it before.
Same here, we’re getting close to the release date and I am so excited! 😀

Thanks for the tag! 🙂 This looks like a lot of fun, I loved the Sims… I shouldn’t say loved, I still love it when I can find the time to play haha!
I may have to steal the House of Night answer for that question. Ugh I have no idea why I continued reading that series, but I read the whole thing, yay me!
I don’t know many people who have read the Gone series… that was a series that started off good for me, but got worse as I continued to read. As much as I loved the series, it felt like it took too long to get to the end.

Me too! Such an addictive game! I want them to come out with some more interesting expansion packs here soon for Sims 4 though.
I do not know how you did it finishing the house of Night series, I’m impressed haha I just couldn’t make myself do it!
I don’t know many people who have read the Gone series either so yay us! I liked the series but I agree the books did not get better as they went on, they just kind of got really weird, confusing, and muddled.
      😁

I haven’t played the Sims 4 yet, but I want to! The expansion packs are always so fun, I had a few for the original, and I had night life for the sims 2, so much fun!
I can’t tell you how I did it, but at least I can be one of the few to say I have made it through HoN haha!
I couldn’t agree more with you on the Gone series! 🙂

“Maia from ‘Fate of Flames’ is one of the most worthless characters I’ve ever come across, she was the main character and I feel like she did nothing but get in the way and fuck everything up!”

Note to self: do not read this book. I can handle (with some discontent mutterings) a useless side-character, but useless protagonists are guaranteed to be the eventual death of me. Thanks for the warning! (I’m also adding Black Hearts to that list.)

Heck yes to the beautiful writing of Daughter of Smoke and Bone! And I really need to bump The Forbidden Wish up on my TBR already, especially if its writing is as captivating as that of DoSaB. I Hunt Killers has also been on my TBR for ages, but I keep forgetting about it. Whoops?

You know I totally agree with your summation of Throne of Glass; no surprise there.

Love your answers, and thanks for the tag! =)

Haha no problem, I would definitely warn everyone away from Fate of Flames if I could. Maia just about killed me she was so….useless. I have never seen a more infuriating character!
I also definitely recommend The Forbidden Wish if you love Laini’s writing I think they’re very comparable!
I Hunt Killers is definitely a unique YA book I recommend as well!
Celaena from ToG is a close second to Maia for me……haha
Thanks and I hope you have fun with this tag! 😁
