(Over Due) Huge Book Haul!

Top Ten Tuesday (26)

Honestly I should have been doing book hauls every time I got a decent amount of books but here I am piling them all together into one! These are books I collected over the summer and part of fall here and there definitely are a ton to share!

I did actually order another small haul from Book Outlet here as well as a few other books I just picked up but I decided instead of waiting to include them I’d just maybe do another book haul here shortly.

So without further ado let’s get into this book haul!

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling 20th Anniversary Edition

This was something I was super pumped to get for my birthday because I didn’t think anyone would actually get it for me! This is the UK hardback Ravenclaw edition (because I am a Ravenclaw, of course!) and it’s absolutely gorgeous it has blue edged pages with yellow stripes. There’s also just some fun little “facts” about Ravenclaw house as well as a beautiful map of Hogwarts inside as well.

I also received those gorgeous Harry Potter bookmarks with it!

The Wood by Chelsea Bobulski

Mostly I wanted this for the cover which is gorgeous and creepy all at once with a leaf dripping blood. It seems creepy but also not, if that makes sense? There’s portals and woods and it all sounds super interesting!

Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi

I literally waited forever for Book Outlet to get copies of this one in! I’ve been wanting to read something by Tahereh Mafi for a while but her Shatter Me series doesn’t seem up my alley and so I wanted to try this one. Plus the cover is really vibrant and colorful.

Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

Another Book Outlet purchase, I wasn’t originally going to buy this book but since everything is so cheap on Book Outlet I decided I might as well. I’m always a sucker for pirate books so hopefully this one lives up to some expectations.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon

Everyone was hyping this book up quite a bit and normally I’m not a huge contemporary reader but I thought it sounded interesting and I do want to broaden my bookish horizons a bit!

Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman

Norse Mythology plus Neil Gaiman? I was sold instantly! Of course I needed to buy it!

Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza

This one had pretty good reviews and I honestly need more great YA sci-fi books in my life, that’s all!

The Valiant by Lesley Livingston

A female gladiator? Once again, sold instantly.

Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios

The cover is gorgeous and this seems like a really unique contemporary since it focuses on a dysfunctional and abusive relationship.

A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

I haven’t read AGOS yet but I figured while Book Outlet still had copies of this that I would buy it that way I had the next book right away!

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

Of course I bought this because I adore Laini Taylor and need ALL her books in my life.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

So originally I wasn’t going to buy this book either since I’m iffy on whether I’d enjoy it or not but once again Book Outlet! I figured since it was cheap I’d just buy it and hopefully enjoy it, if not at least it’s pretty.

Little Monsters by Kara Thomas

I loved Thomas’s other book “The Darkest Corners” and so I had to buy her newest book, she really knows how to write some great twisted thrillers!

Because You Love To Hate Me stories selected by Amerie

A good amount of hype plus short stories told from the villains POV and some great YA authors collaborating with Booktubers? I definitely had to check this one out.

It by Stephen King

Yes, yes I did just buy this book after seeing the movie! The movie of course was excellent and I highly recommend seeing it! This is a pretty intimidating book but I do want to read it eventually because I also adore Stephen King.

The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima

More fantasy books, woohoo! I really need to start reading some of her books because now I have two from each of her series….

The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

I wasn’t going to buy this one but I’ve decided to start ignoring reviews on certain things and just try it myself especially since I really love fantasy books.

Sabriel by Garth Nix

Moooooore fantasy books….

The Devils You Know by M.C. Atwood

Horror book for Halloween, right? This was an ARC sent to me for review.

No Saints in Kansas by Amy Brashear

Another ARC sent to me for review, this one is based off of “In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote which sounds super interesting.

The Hollow Girl by Hillary Monahan

Another ARC that I have reviewed already, it was absolutely freaking fantastic.

(Review Here)

The Hanging Girl by Eileen Cook

An ARC once again. Very fast paced with some great twists, it’s perfect for non-horror readers for Halloween.

(Review Here)

Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan

I finally bought the entire box set from Book Outlet! Super excited to dive back into some Riordan books because of course they’re always fun, fast, and fantastic!

The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson

The year I started blogging this was a new release and it’s a fantasy about a girl going “undercover” in order to infiltrate the rulers who conquered her homeland, there’s also a F/F romance. Sounds super good and Book Outlet had this one on sale so of course I scooped it up!

Christmas Book Haul!

book haul

Hey everybody! Hope you all had a wonderful, book-filled holiday! I know I did, so I’m going to show off all the bookish goodies I received this Christmas!

First off I only have one picture of half of my haul, I received these from my parents and boyfriend. The OTHER half of my haul has yet to arrive….

My grandparents gave me the gift of money, knowing I would use it to buy whichever books I chose. So I went onto Book Outlet (seriously a great store, and no they aren’t paying me to say so) and ordered SEVEN books! I got all of them for a grand total of $30, I don’t know about you but getting that many books for $30 is a pretty solid deal. So hopefully those will be arriving soon, in which case I can do an unboxing post! Woohoo!

So without further ado let’s show off the haul!!!!!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

So these obviously aren’t ALL books but also bookish paraphernalia…

  • Cheshire Cat (Alice in Wonderland) pillow as well as a bookmark. For any of you who DON’T know this, I am HUGE Cheshire fan….a lot. So I’m pretty pumped about these little goodies.
  • A Song of Fire and Ice Grown-Up coloring book, once again I’m a big fan and an adult coloring book makes me pretty happy. Even though I can’t imagine coloring such detailed people will be all that easy for me……I also got another coloring book for grown ups but that’s mostly flowers and graphic designs, still cool though. Plus a shit ton of colored pencils to go with them.
  • “Girl of Nightmares” by Kendare Blake. The sequel to “Anna Dressed in Blood” so I really needed it obviously. I read, reviewed, and LOVED the first book so I needed the next one. Hopefully it’s just as good!
  • The ENTIRE Monstrumologist series in a box set!!!! I can thank my boyfriend for this one…..this is proof that he either A.) Listens occasionally or B.) Reads my blog to find out what I want…….hm. Anyways I’M SUPER PUMPED about this box set! I have started reading the first one already and IT IS AMAZING!!!

So now for the SECOND half of my Christmas book haul! Like I said earlier these are books I ordered with Christmas gift money that have yet to arrive into my awaiting embrace.
5 to 1

“5 to 1” by Holly Bodger

This is a book that I’ve briefly seen around the book blogging community and it has a SUPER interesting blurb. Plus look at how gorgeous the cover is! For the most part the reviews seem pretty positive so I’m hoping I love the inside of this book as much as the outside.

Antigoddess

“Antigoddess” by Kendare Blake

So I’ve had my eyes on this book for a while since I LOVED Blake’s other book “Anna Dressed in Blood”. There seems to be some mixed feelings on this book but since I really love both Kendare Blake AND anything that has to do with mythology I’m hoping I’ll end up loving this book/series.

Born of Illusion (Born of Illusion, #1)

“Born of Illusion” by Teri Brown

Ok so this book has pretty good reviews as well AND it’s set in the early 1920’s AND it’s about stage magic! I don’t know about you guys but I find books/movies centering around stage magic to be absolutely fascinating. I really loved Nolan’s film “The Prestige” and I keep picturing this book to be like that. Hopefully it lives up to my expectations, I won’t be comparing it to that movie…that’s setting the bar way to high.

Guardian of the Dead

“Guardian of the Dead” by Karen Healey

About 5-6 years ago I spotted this book in a bookstore and desperately wanted it. The blurb sounded pretty creepy and therefore very interesting to my 15 year old mind. Unfortunately I never did get my hands on a copy until now and hopefully it’s as entertaining as I thought it would be 6 years ago.

Perfect Ruin (Internment Chronicles, #1)

“Perfect Ruin” Lauren DeStefano

I’m actually not to sure about what I’ll think about this book when I read it. The blurb sounds OK and the reviews are pretty mixed but I’m a sucker for a pretty cover……besides when I can get a paperback copy for around $3.00 it’s worth the gamble.

Revolver

“Revolver” by Marcus Sedgwick

I read Sedgwick’s other book “Midwinterblood” and absolutely loved it, I’ve heard that this book is just as good too. So that’s pretty self explanatory. I had to buy it, plain and simple. Marcus Sedgwick is awesome.

The Bone Season (The Bone Season, #1)

“The Bone Season” by Samantha Shannon

There are SO many mixed reviews on this book, people seem to either love this book or loathe it. I’m hoping that I’ll love it since I’m a big fan of great world building and this seems to have some very intricate world building. Plus as I’ve said before I’m a sucker for a great cover and the cover under the dust jacket is pretty dang gorgeous. This was pretty much recommended to me by Alysyn over at Rein Reads, she told me about the beautiful hardcover copy you can get over at Book Outlet for $2.99!

That wraps up my Christmas book haul this year and hopefully my Book Outlet order comes in relatively soon so I can do an unboxing post!

I hope you all had a great Christmas as well, can’t wait to see your loot!
